3. Introduction
Personal Misconduct Fouls
A player must not:
• Conduct herself in a rough, dangerous, or unsporting manner
• Persistently or flagrantly violate the rules
• Deliberately endanger the safety of an opponent
• Use abusive language or excessively disagree with the umpires’
decisions
• Use language or exhibit behavior that is intended to embarrass,
ridicule, or demean others, i.e. tormenting or taunting
• Exhibit any type of behaviour which in the umpire’s opinion
amounts to misconduct

4. Introduction
Mandatory yellow cards
There are four major fouls that mandate an obligatory yellow card:
• Check to the head: checking (even not on purpose) an opponent’s
head or neck
• Dangerous propelling: propelling of the ball in a dangerous or
uncontrolled manner, which can be a pass or a shot, without
regard to the positions of any field player
• Dangerous Follow Through: following through with the stick in a
dangerous or oncontrolled manner after a shot
• Swipe: a dangerous or uncontrolled swing of the crosse that has
potential for serious injury. A swipe can be called regardless of
whether or not contact is made with an opponant(‘s stick)

5. Introduction
Coach, manager or other bench personnel
A coach, manager or other bench personnel must not:
• Leave their coach walk or team bench area during play / injury
time-outs
• Use abusive language or exhibit behavior that is intended to
embarrass, ridicule or demean others, i.e. tormenting or taunting
• Exhibit any type of behavior which in the umpire’s opinion,
amounts to misconduct

6. Introduction
Penalties for personal misconduct (cards)
• Penalties for personal misconduct may be awarded with a warning
card (yellow, yellow/red or straight red)
• Free position and re-start for misconduct will be administered as a
major foul

7. Introduction
Penalties for Warning cards
• Carded players will serve time in their team bench area
• Time served is 2 min (yellow), 5 min (yellow/red) and 10 min
(straight red)
• When a player receives a card with less then 2 minutes remaining
in the quarter, the suspension will carry over into the next quarter

8. Introduction
Penalties for Warning cards (players)
• When a field player receives a warning card they must leave the
field and serve the appropriate time
• If the player receives her second yellow or a straight red card, she
must leve the field, serve their penalty time and is suspended
from the remainder of the game
• Their team must play with one less player in their attacking /
defending area

9. Introduction
Penalties for Warning cards (goalkeepers)
• When a goalkeeper receives a warning card and her team has a
second dressed goalkeeper
• she must leave the field and serve the time penalty
• The second goalkeeper may replace another field player
• Their team must play with one less player in their attacking /
defending area
• When a goalkeeper receives a warning card and her team does not
have a second dressed goalkeeper
• She may remain in the game and a field player closest to the
substitution area will sit out her penalty time
• If it is her second yellow or straight red a 2-minute time-out
will be taken to enable a teammate to put on protective gear

11. Introduction
Delay of Game
• Players must not intentionally delay the game
• When selfstart is not permitted players must not move before the
whistle or simulate a movement that causes her opponent to
move before the whistle before a draw or throw
• Players must be ready to start the game after 30 seconds after a
goal has been scored, following breaks or team time-outs
• For start and re-start of play, players must be ready at the
instruction of the umpire

12. Introduction
Persistent minor fouls
• Repeated delay of game or persistent minor fouls (19.B.7)
• Repeated restraining line violations (Rule 18)
• Teams that repeatedly waste time returning to the center draw
following a goal (Rule 13.A.2)
• Any other minor fouls that in an umpire’s opinion occur repeatedly
due to lack of skill or to gain an unfair advantage

13. Introduction
Penalties for delay of game and other persistent minor fouls
• The umpire shall first give a verbal warning and on the next
repetition, stop the time and call 'delay of game' and give the
correct minor foul penalty
• For the second delay of game or repeated minor, the umpire will
penalize or set up this minor as a major violation. Subsequent
violations that are "scaled up" will continue to count as major
fouls and may even be carded
