General rule: You need entitlements for any and all defined logon
credentials in your Domino environment!

ü All credentials (for any employee, contractor, similar users, special roles,
tasks, etc) permitting login to Domino mandates a unique entitlement!
ü Validate compliance by counting established credentials –
use DLAU* to produce an appropriate report

• Licensing by server capacity (Processor Value Units) is increasingly meaningless
and difficult as processor architectures change and Cloud/SaaS prevails –
many customers do not maintain PVU compliance!
• Traditional client side licensing is increasingly meaningless as there are no
longer any dependency on a rich client deployment for a laptop/desktop -
web clients prevails
• Very difficult to maintain a “compliant environment” across client/browser users
and on-prem server/cloud deployments, hence the model will be deprecated !
• Collaboration Express was an old model for doing a limited scale license for SMB.
Now, it is more advantageous to upgrade Collab.Express to CCB.
Think of CCB as a unified license supporting SaaS through on-prem Client/Server.
E.g. for SaaS, every robot, individual person, every function/role need to be provisioned, ie. be entitled.
A simple, manageable model.
Why not CAL/PVU, Express...

needed entitlements (Authorized User count)
within your HCL Domino CCB environment.
• Very simple to deploy and use non-intrusive tool:
ü Delivered as a Notes application file (.nsf) to be run
from a Notes client
ü Does NOT require any changes to the HCL Domino
servers, and does NOT modify any existing data
ü Runs in the background – will not “freeze” Notes

Preparing to getting a renewal/upgrade quote for CCB:
a) If only internal users:
ü At least 1 month prior to renew run DLAU to set
base line,
ü take any configuration updates suggested by DLAU,
ü rerun for CCB count
b) If also external users:
ü 3 months prior to renew, enable License Tracker on
all servers (prior to V12.0.2)
ü run DLAU every month and follow configuration
guidelines – designate external directory.
ü Rerun for CCB/CCX count.

No tracking tool data is automatically collected by HCL in any way nor is it used to control server access in any way.
You control sharing of the ”DLAU Reports" which contains the total number of needed entitlements by access level for CCB/CCX licensing (GDPR compliant).
HCL can ask you to substantiate your user counts on renewal of Support subscription, where the Administrator may use the DLAU.
