(ooh and I’m a Daddy!)
Write a few words about yourself was the request, erm, OK, but I’d far
rather show you what I can do! That’s why I love my job so much
I’ve been a Dj, mainly mobile, for over 25 years, yet I’m proud to admit
that I’m still only 30 something! Having gained a passionfor music,
microphones and lighting from a very young age, most of my happiest
times have been stood behind the decks,on a stage or at a mixing desk.
From your youngest child’s Birthday Party, playing games such as
Musical Statues or dressing up as Santa, through to a wedding,Young
Farmers Roadshowor local pub quiz night, my portfolio of work is pretty
extensive. I’ve beena hospital radio DJ, studied media studies and
worked in many venues of all shapes and sizes.
Some of my career highlights include being an MC at a half marathon for
the British Heart Foundation, setting up successfulchildren’s parties and
giving them the ‘holiday camp’ effectthrough my family run childcare
business, securing the Disco provision at the University of Worcester,
supporting and announcing for Thriller UK and being the resident DJ for
many young farmers clubs.
As well as this, I have managed family entertainment centres where I
had up to 10 party hosts at any one time working for me, provided PA for
carnival floats, helped at internet radio stations and worked in many
hotels, social clubs, pubs, bars and many a private house party.
Having taken a short break from DJing, when I was faced with
unemployment, a friend of mine said to me, why don’t you just do what
you are good at? Not knowing the real answer, I respondedwith a blank
face, 7 days later I had a new disco rig. To this day I haven’t looked
2. back. With FBT, Hills Audio and American Audio PA systems,Chauvet
and American DJ lighting, Dennon and Numark mixers and sure radio
mics, the quality of equipmentI use is of a very high standard. As well as
my Dj and presentation skills, my ear for sound quality and standard for
lighting is set very high.
I have managed the Karaoke and Disco contract at the University of
Worcester, helped to manage WorcesterCounty Cricket Clubs contract
for entertainment and hold residencies at various wedding venues. I
have also been on a DJ on P and O cruises with Carnival UK
I feel the skills I offer, along with both the professionalattitude and
friendly face, offers any event the opportunity to be both fun, creative
and a success.I’m happy with providing music from all genres, decades
and can adapt to many situations.
I own a large transit van, capable of moving a range of equipmentand
can support both indoors and outdoor events.
Proudly I can say, I love my job, it keeps me going and ticking over, my
three young children are slowly following in my footstepsand enjoy
helping Daddy at his discos…and even Daddy has to Dj at their parties
too!
So 450 words later, when tasked with the job of writing about myself,I
think I’ve covered it, that said, the only way to see if you like what you
read is to take a risk, give it a go and book me. Hopefully, you will,
thanks so much for getting this far and I look forward to hearing from you
soon!
Best Wishes
Alex Kear
