1. Mary Lynn Gaydosh - Marriage Blessing Officiant
Hello,
and welcome to a world of wedding possibilities on our beloved island of
Mallorca!
You have chosen a perfect destination for your day of celebration, and my role
in this very special day is to lead your marriage blessing ceremony just as you
might have dreamed it could be. My part is also to help you with all the
text/words/readings you would like to experience throughout your ceremony.
Please understand that in order to be legally or "officially married" , in most
countries this is the signing before a registry/registrar in your place of
residence. I cannot provide documents which will legally declare you are
married.
The ceremonies I offer are, as I like to say, "Your Heart's Promise" wedding
ceremony, and I share dozens of these celebrations every year with wonderful
couples from all around the world. This is a ceremony in which YOU can
choose, declare and promise as you like; these ceremonies usually include rings
and bridesmaids and best men, the whole traditional 3 part vow ceremony of:
VOWS - Declaration of Intent // Marriage Promise// Ring Exchange.
Of course, I am completely open to co-creating your ceremony as you've always
dreamed it would be, whether or not we do the 3 part vows.
I have been sharing these ceremonies in Mallorca with couples since 2005,
beginning with my first ceremony in the valley of Soller. It was a bi-lingual
ceremony, English-Spanish. I was called with 2 day's notice to cover for a
celebrant who had lost his voice.
2. At that time, I was already very active publicly in Majorcan environmental
causes; I was also one of few native English teachers in the Soller valley, and I
was fortunate to have a very good reputation as "The modern voice teacher" on
the island. Also at the time I was at a musical peak as a performer, a singer and
collaborator in numerous musical projects on the island. My fluency in Catalan
and Spanish made me a bit of a rarity at the time, now it's much more common!
I was also known, unbeknownst to me at the time, as someone who had a "knack"
for sincere public speaking, and more than that I've been told, was the
"empathy" which was felt.
Hence that first call out of the blue 10 years ago, and since then I feel very,
very fortunate and blessed to be a part of the personal ceremonies I have
shared with couples, many of whom are still in touch with baby and new house
photos!
I come from a small town in Northeast Ohio, USA, and was raised in an very
open Christian family, so I always felt encouraged to "extend my belief
borders". Which was a very good idea, because beginning with my university
studies at the internationally known Berklee College of Music in Boston
Massachussetts, I most certainly have extended some borders in my life, and
have enjoyed "border crossings" since then!
I'm most often called upon for non-religious ceremonies, so feel free to make any
requests regarding other wedding ceremony rites if there is something that
particularly strikes a chord with you!
Well, I hope that's enough about me.
Now. What about YOU?
This is YOUR DAY, and it is very important that your ceremony flows just
3. as you wish it to. That's my part, and I am available via email, Skype, phone
(Voipwise/Whatsapp…) and personal meeting in Mallorca at your venue (when
possible), to go over any details, questions, suggestions, etc that we need to
cover for your ceremony.
The usual procedure is that I send you a few texts, so that you have an idea of
how a ceremony might proceed, and then we begin to exchange ideas.
Once you've received a few texts….
…You may decide that you prefer that I take care of the whole spoken
ceremony, all the way through. No problem, with pleasure! I have a few simple
questions for you, and then I take it from there.
…Or, for example, you might like a a basic text, and also have some ideas,
and/or you choose to mention a few things to me, wishes, desires, comments,
wording, personal vows, etc…. once we've established a few "guideline wishes",
and a few emails or Skype calls, I know how best to proceed.
….Or, you might even choose to be co-creators of your ceremony. This is when
I ask for some more background on the two of you, and we really keep a good
flow of contact via email and a couple Skype video and/or personal meetings
whenever possible.
I choose not to say "It's my job" , I prefer to say "it's my pleasure" to make your
marriage ceremony all that you wish for it to be.
From a "Hand fasting ceremony" to "Spanish Tokens", Japanese rituals and
Hindi rites, from an "Apache blessing" to a "Plato pondering from
'Symposium'"…the ways we can create your ceremony are joyously, humorously,
harmoniously, lyrically, poetically and literally so many!
4. Finally, perhaps your desire is an intimate, simple, down to earth ceremony, as a
symbolic promise to share with your most beloved on your wedding day…the day
which brings you most joy.
Of course. Whether we make a big effort with meetings and ideas, or simply
exchange a few emails, this is your day. And I'm here to help make it most
beautiful.
Let it be known that children and elders, special friends or any significant
others, are VERY WELCOME to share in your day, in any way that feels
right for you.
Also, I very much welcome same gender ceremonies, I have had the pleasure of
sharing a few with lovely fun couples.
All is possible….just say so, and I will do my best to make your ceremony "just
right" for You.
Very warm regards,
Mary Lynn Gaydosh
P.S. I speak fluent Catalan and Spanish for bi-lingual ceremonies.
