Sports Safety Essay
Through the years, people have looked many things in sports such as success, victories, effort, teamwork, persistence, but also losses, resignation,
distress, pain and fractures. During the games, some players can be accidently affected. However; some players and athletes do not realize, the
harmful and possible consequences that game accidents can cause. Many people think the rules of the games will need to change and be adapted to
make sure the athletes are safe, besides in the other hand there are people who are disagree about change and modify the rules in other to make the
games safe for the athletes, because they think the game can change and it will not be the same. I think rules should be made in an important extent to

In daily life can be a blow to trip over the leg of a chair, for example, a fall on the floor where you hit your head and blood spill on the cheekbone is
the result. The head trauma is a subject of concern among young people of both sexes. Since it is caused by an outside force, usually a violent blow
to the head. A head trauma can change the life of an individual instantly; insomuch it affects how you think, how you feel, how you behaves, how you
move and your memory. Moreover; females are also at a high rate of suffering from concussion or head traumas because our bodies and brain are
totally different from males. A model we can see is Emily Oliver who played soccer as a goalkeeper. She won Stanford's Arthur F. Dauer Memorial

commitment to strength and conditioning. But after playing for several years she suffered multiple concussions. And this happen because the
symptoms can be hidden in a female because we have changes in our attitudes and behaviors and it can be interpreted as something normal on

Safety on College Campuses Essay examples
Safety is a tremendous issue on college campuses, and additional procedures need to be taken to prevent crimes from happening. When walking onto
a college campus as a young adult, people get a rush of the unknown. The unknown could be going to college parties and late night study groups.
College should be like any high school or elementary school and have better security measures to protect their students. The reasons we need these
extra steps are to prevent violence, give students a sense of security, and monitor visitors on campus.
First of all, violence can be prevented on campuses among the students once safety issues are put in place. There are several ways to prevent the
violence including security cameras and metal detectors....show more content...
In another incident at Western KentuckyUniversity, a young woman was raped, stabbed, and burned to death in her dorm. Everyone that entered the
building was supposed to sign in and show identification in this case the one involved walked in without being questioned, he proceeded to her room
where she was brutally murdered. When visitors are seen by security and made to sign in and show identification, it would help monitor the visitors in
each building. Therefore, guards stationed outside of dorms at night would prevent unauthorized visitors in the building and the guards could
personally identify who enters and leaves each building. Thirdly, visitors on a campus is not a bad thing, but they must be monitored for student safety.
There have been other crimes on campuses like purse snatching in the middle of the day, car break–ins, and shoplifting at the school stores. In addition,
the most up–to–date statistics show there were more than 35,000 reported crimes on U.S. college campuses in just one year. Furthermore, if a crime
occurs the person involved can be identified easier by checking the log book and talking to security. Having more than one safety measure in place
allows further evidence if something was to happen. The experience that occurs at college must reflect to younger generations that college is not a
scary place, and that it is a safe and secure place as if they were at

Safety Improvement Research Paper
I decided to do safety improvements because people are becoming more reliant on technology. They go out on the road thinking they can do what they
want and technology will just correct what they did. Technology can malfunction and will not always work so they could end up causing a crash. One
example of a new safety improvement is Lane–Keep Assist. What this does is if you start to go into a different lane without a blinker it will correct
you and put you back in the right lane. There is a few issues with this you can turn on and off but you have to find it when you are trying to drive.
Also, the camera is in the back of the rear view mirror and if something is blocking it it will not be able to work right. The second safety improvement is

When thinking about school, what is the first thing that pops into peoples minds? Academics? School appearances? The answer is safety. Safety is
the most important aspect of school because if students do not feel safe, they will not learn. Safety is "the state of being safe; freedom from the
occurrence or risk of injury, danger, or loss" (Dictionary.com). This research paper will talk about why safety is theschool's number one, what teachers
and schools are doing to ensure students feel safe in school and the pros and cons of these solutions First off school's number one priority is safety
because in some cases school provides a release or get away for students and it is a place to learn. "You know, our primary concern is child safety,
and then the protection of our property." (Lang, 3). In this example it states clearly the main focus of schools is to make sure the children attending
public school are safe and then the schools will worry about other things, such as vandalism or destruction of property. "We want to make sure that
schools are providing an environment where teachers can teach and young people can learn" (Graham, 3). This example says schools need to provide
an environment in which students can learn. If students are scared or feeling unsafe in the school they are attending, the students will not learn. "'I
want to feel safe in school,' said Will Hendricks, a 13–year–old eighth grader in Kings Mountain, N.C." (Celis III, 2). This student was involved with

Reflection On Health And Safety
Reflective questions for Module 4: Workplace Health and Safety
1)Before you studied this module, what did you think would be involved in managing workplace health and safety?
Before this module, I thought that to manage workplace health and safety (WH&S) effectively, involved rigorous preventative measures. With this, I
acknowledged the idea of analysis of workplace processes, and an understanding of various job roles to be important to managing WH&S. Hence, I had
a superficial expectation that prevention and not treatment, was the primary mechanism for addressing WH&S issues; which may not always be the
case. Recognisably, I didn't expect organisational culture that incorporated WH&S, to be a valuable preventative and treatment tool for managing
WH&S.
2)During this module you learned about various forms of risks in workplace health and safety. What happened when you tried to conduct arisk
assessment and develop a hazard management plan for a hazard which could be encountered by a Happy Dogs dog walker? What did you find
challenging?
When completing this task, I found the obvious hazard of being bitten; however, I found it challenging to identify a hazard of being hit by a car. I think
this may due to subconsciously identifying direct hazards, more prominently than indirect. I found that the level of risk to be subjective. Referring to
the hazard of being bitten, I assumed it to be a moderate to high risk. However, if I had been bitten previously, I subconsciously may have increased this
risk to extreme. In managing this hazard, I thought it was difficult to prevent, without offending the customer (muffling). Therefore, a major challenge
for me was to not impact customer perception through a management–plan.
3)Interpret your experience. Why do you think you experienced the challenges that you did? If it was because you did not have something you
needed, explain what you needed and how you would have benefited/ what you would have been able to do differently if you did have it.
I believe that there is one main reason I experienced challenges; that I am not a dog owner. Hence. I needed the experience of being around dogs, and
understanding their nature. With this experience, I think I

Essay On Health And Safety
Good afternoon,
I wish to express my concerns concerning Children Safeguarding and General Health & Safety within St Anselm's Church, 170 Kennington Lane,
Lambeth, London SE11 5DU and the North Parish's Centenary Hall, Cottington Street, Kennington, South London SE11 4RZ.
St Anselm's Church is in partnership with Bouquets and Beans, who runs a fresh cut flower and coffee stand in front of the Church, and Dilek Taptik
School of Dance (DTSD), who offers dance classes for children inside St Anselm's Church and the Centenary Hall.
St Anselm's Church does not provide a separate area for Bouquets and Beans' staff to wash their hands, wash their flower pots, wash their cutting tools
and wash their coffee machine parts. They are using St...show more content...
However, there is no changing room and children are changed into their ballet outfits and back into their daily clothes in the nave of the "barn–like"
church foyer. Anyone from the street can come in and observe little children running half naked, being stripped bare and changed. It should not be
permitted! There is no safeguarding implementation plan. Once the sole instructor is in the studio, teaching, curtains closed and doors shut, there is no
other School Dance's employee or Church's employee around to monitor the coming and going of children and strangers.
Dilek Tapik School of Dance also runs children ballet classes withing St Anselm's Church's Century Hall, where, once again, there is no changing room.
Nor is there a waiting room! So, the dancers and their parents/carers wait outside, unsheltered, whatever the weather conditions. To worsen matters, the
switchover between the sessions lasts only 5 minutes, so parents walk their children down the street in their ballet outfit all year round exposing them
to the weather conditions and onlookers.
Children in skimpy outfits should not be paraded in the street, to onlookers, and in any weather conditions. In my opinion, this constitutes neglect from
Dilek Tapik School of Dance who has the duty of care obligations for its students.
However, despite directly expressing my concern to Dilek Tapik. She too refuted my concerns and

Essay on Safety Culture
Safety culture is a complex structure in an organization that includes values and attitudes most of which are potentially changeable and related to actual
accident behavior. The components of safety culture included organizational commitment, management involvement, employee empowerment,
reporting system, and rewarding system.
After giving brief introduction about safety culture let me divide my essay into* Introduction part * explanation about safety culture * Summary &

*Safety Culture: A safety culture exists within an organization where each individual employee, regardless of their position, accepts and assumes an
active role in error prevention and that role is supported by the organization. In fact, safety culture is a set of guidelines' beliefs that by which group of
individuals guided in their behavior by their joint belief in the importance of safety, and their shared understanding that every member willingly upholds
the group's safety norms and will support other members to that common end. The safety culture as an important phrase and concept came to
prominence following a number of major accidents in the late 1990s. The current interest in the term safety culture can be traced directly back to the
Bhopal disaster in 1984. They mentioned that conceptualizations and definitions of safety culture have been derived mainly from the more general
notion of organizational culture. safety culture is defined as a set of beliefs, norms, attitudes, roles, and social and technical practices that are concerned
with minimizing the exposure of employees, managers, and members of the public to conditions considered dangerous or injurious. by considering
commonalties among the various definitions of safety culture; a global definition can be formulated. The safety culture is the enduring value and

Water Safety
Definition, Prevalence, & Incidence
Water safety is taught to people of all ages in hope to prevent submission and skin injuries such as drowning and burns. Drowning is a worldwide
problem with profound economic and health impact. The World Health Organization estimates that each year, about 388,000 people die fromdrowning.
An additional 100,000 people suffer severe injuries from near drowning and secondary drowning (Forjuoh 2013). Drowning can happen at any moment
and at any time, regardless of age and the amount of water. In the United States, drowning is the second leading cause of death of unintentional injuries
in children aged 1–14 years old. Males have an overall mortality rate than females due to their riskier behavior. Incidences tend to happen more in the
summer, when children are out of school and when most go swimming. Chil dren with access to water, such as nearby pools and lakes tend to also have
higher incidences of drowning; however, it's important to understand that the only water needed to drown is enough to cover the nose and mouth.
Therefore, it is important to teach others in our community the importance of water safety.
Water Safety in the Home
"Toddlers are top heavy and they can fall headfirst into buckets and drown." ("In Home Danger" 2016.) Water safety in the home consists of keeping
open items of water attended to at all times. Examples of open items

It's a dark rainy night. You and your family are coming home from a late night family party. As a car is coming through an intersection another car
cut in front of it. The driver decides to hit the brakes so you can avoid the car, but as he presses the brakes, the car loses control on the slick wet
road. He is not able to gain control and at that point he has endangered the lives of himself and many others on the road. This is just one example of
the many types of things that occur in our streets everyday. All that would have been needed to avoid this situation would have been a traction control

Along with accidents not only comes a little headache or a broken bone, but injuries that stay with you forever such as whiplash and brain damage.
Most brain damage incidents occur when you are involved in a side impact collision and the side of your head hits the glass (brain injury). Side
impact airbags are just one of the many ways in which this type of life threatening injury can be avoided (whiplash). There is also whiplash, which
hurls your head violently, and usually results in long term disability. Since whiplash is so hard to avoid, it can only be avoided by reducing the
number of accidents on the streets. Also one of the most painful and most traumatizing injuries that we encounter in accidents are bone fractures, which
occur in 65% of all accidents (Bush 11). So in turn by making these cars safer we can all avoid these painful, traumatizing, life–threatening injuries.
Seat belts although they are the most effective safety device on cars must be made safer. Out of all people who died in car accidents, 63% of those
were not wearing seat belts (seatbelts). This goes to show you the effectiveness of seat belt. Therefore automotive manufactures must mandate the
installation of 5–point seatbelt on all cars. In all major race car organization such as NASCAR (National Association Stock Car Automotive Racing)
they require these 5–point seat belt. Which is nothing more than a seatbelt that is buckled in 5 spots rather that the conventional 3.

Essay on Traffic Safety
Traffic Safety
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines aggressive driving as "the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that
endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property"–a traffic and not a criminal offense like road rage. Examples include speeding or driving too fast
for conditions, improper lane changing, tailgating and improper passing. Approximately 6,800,000 crashes occur in the United States each year; a
substantial number are estimated to be caused by aggressive driving. 1997 statistics compiled by NHTSA and the American Automobile Association
show that almost 13,000 people have been injured or killed since 1990 in crashes caused by aggressive driving. According to a NHTSA survey, more

NHTSA research shows that compliance with, and support for, traffic laws can be increased through aggressive, targeted enforcement combined with a
vigorous public information and education program. When Maryland launched its "Aggressive Driver Campaign" in 1995, with an emphasis on public
information, education and enforcement, the media and the public praised the state police for their efforts. The public's perception was that the police
were "out there to catch the other guy." Related fatalities have declined dramatically. According to State Farm Insurance, the number of drivers on the
road is increasing. In 1990, an estimated 91 percent of people drove to work, and commuters in one–third of the largest cities spent well over 40 hours
a year in traffic jams. The Traffic Law Enforcement Division anticipates and responds to the needs, and develops innovative products that law
enforcement will seek and use to reduce traffic crashes, deaths, and injuries. Collaborating with law enforcement, prioritizing program delivery,
marketing, expanding partnerships, and establishing new partnerships, technology, and research accomplish this. They now have a Pursuit Seminar for
Law Enforcement Driver Trainers program. The focus of the seminar is to address legal and operational vehicular pursuit training issues that include

Decking is the planking you actually walk. Decking runs perpendicular to the joists and is nailed or screwed at each joist intersection, attaching
the decking to the framing below. Railings, staircases, and banisters are the final components of a deck, allowing access and preventing people
from falling off. Stair stringers are the large, notched pieces under the stair treads. Common sense can often give you a good feeling of how well
your deck is aging. If the deck sways or shakes while you walk on it, obviously, this is a bad sign. However, some signs of aging are harder to detect,
and a closer look at the structure may reveal problems in the making. Helpful Tools for Inspecting Your Deck The only two tools you really need
for inspecting your deck are a strong flashlight and an awl. If you don't have an awl, an icepick or slender screwdriver will do the same job. Other

Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students
School Safety: Protecting the Students
For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the
classroom or out.
Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been
investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in
school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken
to aid today's students.

And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe
families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a
student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's
drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying
around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends.
However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it
comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an
education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced
harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when
it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to

Reflective Essay On Safety
Prior and contemporary tragedies do not have to shape our future; safeness can be better maintained through consistency, promoting our militia, and
respect for security including our policemen. "Our strength as a nation comes within our unity. We are the United States of America, not the divided
states. Those that do not want us to divide try to divide us, and we should not let them do it." Our country is a substantial one, but if we walk through
more safety procedures, I feel our nation will be the strongest. Listen to my reflection on our country and its current situation to understand how we
could better ourselves for the future.
Events where safety has been an issue is something I feel needs to be addressed. Security of our citizens is essential to development in our nation.
When 9/11 took place, I was too young to even ponder what was going on; to this very day, it affected so many masses, I had to learn about thetragedy
in class. The tragic event of 9/11 took place in New York where two aircrafts struck the Twin Towers, and they destroyed most of the people inside.
This event made me wonder how the hijackers on the plane were even able to do this. This event made me realize that back then, our safety and
precautions were not taken seriously. Also, the Orlando shooting in the homoerotic bar was just as terrible. It involved a man entitled Omar who
started a massacre at a homoeroctic nightclub and killed 49 people just because of who they were and what

Sports Safety Essay

  • 1. Sports Safety Essay Through the years, people have looked many things in sports such as success, victories, effort, teamwork, persistence, but also losses, resignation, distress, pain and fractures. During the games, some players can be accidently affected. However; some players and athletes do not realize, the harmful and possible consequences that game accidents can cause. Many people think the rules of the games will need to change and be adapted to make sure the athletes are safe, besides in the other hand there are people who are disagree about change and modify the rules in other to make the games safe for the athletes, because they think the game can change and it will not be the same. I think rules should be made in an important extent to make sports as...show more content... A head trauma can change the life of an individual instantly; insomuch it affects how you think, how you feel, how you behaves, how you move and your memory. Moreover; females are also at a high rate of suffering from concussion or head traumas because our bodies and brain are totally different from males. A model we can see is Emily Oliver who played soccer as a goalkeeper. She won Stanford's Arthur F. But after playing for several years she suffered multiple concussions. • 2. Safety on College Campuses Essay examples Safety is a tremendous issue on college campuses, and additional procedures need to be taken to prevent crimes from happening. When walking onto a college campus as a young adult, people get a rush of the unknown. The unknown could be going to college parties and late night study groups. College should be like any high school or elementary school and have better security measures to protect their students. The reasons we need these extra steps are to prevent violence, give students a sense of security, and monitor visitors on campus. First of all, violence can be prevented on campuses among the students once safety issues are put in place. There are several ways to prevent the violence including security cameras and metal detectors....show more content... In another incident at Western KentuckyUniversity, a young woman was raped, stabbed, and burned to death in her dorm. Everyone that entered the building was supposed to sign in and show identification in this case the one involved walked in without being questioned, he proceeded to her room where she was brutally murdered. When visitors are seen by security and made to sign in and show identification, it would help monitor the visitors in each building. Therefore, guards stationed outside of dorms at night would prevent unauthorized visitors in the building and the guards could personally identify who enters and leaves each building. Thirdly, visitors on a campus is not a bad thing, but they must be monitored for student safety. There have been other crimes on campuses like purse snatching in the middle of the day, car break–ins, and shoplifting at the school stores. In addition, the most up–to–date statistics show there were more than 35,000 reported crimes on U.S. college campuses in just one year. Furthermore, if a crime occurs the person involved can be identified easier by checking the log book and talking to security. Having more than one safety measure in place allows further evidence if something was to happen. The experience that occurs at college must reflect to younger generations that college is not a scary place, and that it is a safe and secure place as if they were at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Safety Improvement Research Paper I decided to do safety improvements because people are becoming more reliant on technology. They go out on the road thinking they can do what they want and technology will just correct what they did. Technology can malfunction and will not always work so they could end up causing a crash. One example of a new safety improvement is Lane–Keep Assist. What this does is if you start to go into a different lane without a blinker it will correct you and put you back in the right lane. There is a few issues with this you can turn on and off but you have to find it when you are trying to drive. Also, the camera is in the back of the rear view mirror and if something is blocking it it will not be able to work right. The second safety improvement is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. When thinking about school, what is the first thing that pops into peoples minds? Academics? School appearances? The answer is safety. Safety is the most important aspect of school because if students do not feel safe, they will not learn. Safety is "the state of being safe; freedom from the occurrence or risk of injury, danger, or loss" (Dictionary.com). This research paper will talk about why safety is theschool's number one, what teachers and schools are doing to ensure students feel safe in school and the pros and cons of these solutions First off school's number one priority is safety because in some cases school provides a release or get away for students and it is a place to learn. "You know, our primary concern is child safety, and then the protection of our property." (Lang, 3). In this example it states clearly the main focus of schools is to make sure the children attending public school are safe and then the schools will worry about other things, such as vandalism or destruction of property. "We want to make sure that schools are providing an environment where teachers can teach and young people can learn" (Graham, 3). This example says schools need to provide an environment in which students can learn. If students are scared or feeling unsafe in the school they are attending, the students will not learn. "'I want to feel safe in school,' said Will Hendricks, a 13–year–old eighth grader in Kings Mountain, N.C." (Celis III, 2). This student was involved with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflection On Health And Safety Reflective questions for Module 4: Workplace Health and Safety 1)Before you studied this module, what did you think would be involved in managing workplace health and safety? Before this module, I thought that to manage workplace health and safety (WH&S) effectively, involved rigorous preventative measures. With this, I acknowledged the idea of analysis of workplace processes, and an understanding of various job roles to be important to managing WH&S. Hence, I had a superficial expectation that prevention and not treatment, was the primary mechanism for addressing WH&S issues; which may not always be the case. Recognisably, I didn't expect organisational culture that incorporated WH&S, to be a valuable preventative and treatment tool for managing WH&S. 2)During this module you learned about various forms of risks in workplace health and safety. What happened when you tried to conduct arisk assessment and develop a hazard management plan for a hazard which could be encountered by a Happy Dogs dog walker? What did you find challenging? When completing this task, I found the obvious hazard of being bitten; however, I found it challenging to identify a hazard of being hit by a car. I think this may due to subconsciously identifying direct hazards, more prominently than indirect. I found that the level of risk to be subjective. Referring to the hazard of being bitten, I assumed it to be a moderate to high risk. However, if I had been bitten previously, I subconsciously may have increased this risk to extreme. In managing this hazard, I thought it was difficult to prevent, without offending the customer (muffling). Therefore, a major challenge for me was to not impact customer perception through a management–plan. 3)Interpret your experience. Why do you think you experienced the challenges that you did? If it was because you did not have something you needed, explain what you needed and how you would have benefited/ what you would have been able to do differently if you did have it. I believe that there is one main reason I experienced challenges; that I am not a dog owner. Hence. I needed the experience of being around dogs, and understanding their nature. With this experience, I think I

  • 7. Essay On Health And Safety Good afternoon, I wish to express my concerns concerning Children Safeguarding and General Health & Safety within St Anselm's Church, 170 Kennington Lane, Lambeth, London SE11 5DU and the North Parish's Centenary Hall, Cottington Street, Kennington, South London SE11 4RZ. St Anselm's Church is in partnership with Bouquets and Beans, who runs a fresh cut flower and coffee stand in front of the Church, and Dilek Taptik School of Dance (DTSD), who offers dance classes for children inside St Anselm's Church and the Centenary Hall. St Anselm's Church does not provide a separate area for Bouquets and Beans' staff to wash their hands, wash their flower pots, wash their cutting tools and wash their coffee machine parts. They are using St...show more content... However, there is no changing room and children are changed into their ballet outfits and back into their daily clothes in the nave of the "barn–like" church foyer. Anyone from the street can come in and observe little children running half naked, being stripped bare and changed. It should not be permitted! There is no safeguarding implementation plan. Once the sole instructor is in the studio, teaching, curtains closed and doors shut, there is no other School Dance's employee or Church's employee around to monitor the coming and going of children and strangers. Dilek Tapik School of Dance also runs children ballet classes withing St Anselm's Church's Century Hall, where, once again, there is no changing room. Nor is there a waiting room! So, the dancers and their parents/carers wait outside, unsheltered, whatever the weather conditions. To worsen matters, the switchover between the sessions lasts only 5 minutes, so parents walk their children down the street in their ballet outfit all year round exposing them to the weather conditions and onlookers. Children in skimpy outfits should not be paraded in the street, to onlookers, and in any weather conditions. In my opinion, this constitutes neglect from Dilek Tapik School of Dance who has the duty of care obligations for its students. However, despite directly expressing my concern to Dilek Tapik. She too refuted my concerns and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Safety Culture Essay on Safety Culture Safety culture is a complex structure in an organization that includes values and attitudes most of which are potentially changeable and related to actual accident behavior. The components of safety culture included organizational commitment, management involvement, employee empowerment, reporting system, and rewarding system. After giving brief introduction about safety culture let me divide my essay into* Introduction part * explanation about safety culture * Summary & conclusion. * Introduction: Effective safety management in the twenty–first century involves paying attention to human factors as system components with as much potential to cause, or save, dangerous system states as technical components. In fact, safety culture is a set of guidelines' beliefs that by which group of individuals guided in their behavior by their joint belief in the importance of safety, and their shared understanding that every member willingly upholds the group's safety norms and will support other members to that common end. The safety culture as an important phrase and concept came to prominence following a number of major accidents in the late 1990s. The current interest in the term safety culture can be traced directly back to the Bhopal disaster in 1984. They mentioned that conceptualizations and definitions of safety culture have been derived mainly from the more general notion of organizational culture. safety culture is defined as a set of beliefs, norms, attitudes, roles, and social and technical practices that are concerned with minimizing the exposure of employees, managers, and members of the public to conditions considered dangerous or injurious. by considering commonalties among the various definitions of safety culture; a global definition can be formulated. • 9. The Importance Of Water Safety Water Safety Nieshma Herbert Tarrant County College August 4, 2017 Water Safety Definition, Prevalence, & Incidence Water safety is taught to people of all ages in hope to prevent submission and skin injuries such as drowning and burns. Drowning is a worldwide problem with profound economic and health impact. The World Health Organization estimates that each year, about 388,000 people die fromdrowning. An additional 100,000 people suffer severe injuries from near drowning and secondary drowning (Forjuoh 2013). Drowning can happen at any moment and at any time, regardless of age and the amount of water. In the United States, drowning is the second leading cause of death of unintentional injuries in children aged 1–14 years old. Males have an overall mortality rate than females due to their riskier behavior. Incidences tend to happen more in the summer, when children are out of school and when most go swimming. Chil dren with access to water, such as nearby pools and lakes tend to also have higher incidences of drowning; however, it's important to understand that the only water needed to drown is enough to cover the nose and mouth. Therefore, it is important to teach others in our community the importance of water safety. Water Safety in the Home "Toddlers are top heavy and they can fall headfirst into buckets and drown." ("In Home Danger" 2016.) Water safety in the home consists of keeping open items of water attended to at all times. Examples of open items Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay on Car Safety Car Safety Automobile Safety It's a dark rainy night. You and your family are coming home from a late night family party. As a car is coming through an intersection another car cut in front of it. The driver decides to hit the brakes so you can avoid the car, but as he presses the brakes, the car loses control on the slick wet road. He is not able to gain control and at that point he has endangered the lives of himself and many others on the road. This is just one example of the many types of things that occur in our streets everyday. All that would have been needed to avoid this situation would have been a traction control system in his car, which would have detected that the car was skidding and would have applied the brakes to...show more content... Along with accidents not only comes a little headache or a broken bone, but injuries that stay with you forever such as whiplash and brain damage. Most brain damage incidents occur when you are involved in a side impact collision and the side of your head hits the glass (brain injury). Side impact airbags are just one of the many ways in which this type of life threatening injury can be avoided (whiplash). There is also whiplash, which hurls your head violently, and usually results in long term disability. Since whiplash is so hard to avoid, it can only be avoided by reducing the number of accidents on the streets. Also one of the most painful and most traumatizing injuries that we encounter in accidents are bone fractures, which occur in 65% of all accidents (Bush 11). So in turn by making these cars safer we can all avoid these painful, traumatizing, life–threatening injuries. Seat belts although they are the most effective safety device on cars must be made safer. Out of all people who died in car accidents, 63% of those were not wearing seat belts (seatbelts). This goes to show you the effectiveness of seat belt. Therefore automotive manufactures must mandate the installation of 5–point seatbelt on all cars. In all major race car organization such as NASCAR (National Association Stock Car Automotive Racing) they require these 5–point seat belt. Which is nothing more than a seatbelt that is buckled in 5 spots rather that the conventional 3. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay on Traffic Safety Traffic Safety The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines aggressive driving as "the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property"–a traffic and not a criminal offense like road rage. Examples include speeding or driving too fast for conditions, improper lane changing, tailgating and improper passing. Approximately 6,800,000 crashes occur in the United States each year; a substantial number are estimated to be caused by aggressive driving. 1997 statistics compiled by NHTSA and the American Automobile Association show that almost 13,000 people have been injured or killed since 1990 in crashes caused by aggressive driving. According to a NHTSA survey, more ...show more content... NHTSA research shows that compliance with, and support for, traffic laws can be increased through aggressive, targeted enforcement combined with a vigorous public information and education program. When Maryland launched its "Aggressive Driver Campaign" in 1995, with an emphasis on public information, education and enforcement, the media and the public praised the state police for their efforts. The public's perception was that the police were "out there to catch the other guy." Related fatalities have declined dramatically. According to State Farm Insurance, the number of drivers on the road is increasing. In 1990, an estimated 91 percent of people drove to work, and commuters in one–third of the largest cities spent well over 40 hours a year in traffic jams. The Traffic Law Enforcement Division anticipates and responds to the needs, and develops innovative products that law enforcement will seek and use to reduce traffic crashes, deaths, and injuries. Collaborating with law enforcement, prioritizing program delivery, marketing, expanding partnerships, and establishing new partnerships, technology, and research accomplish this. They now have a Pursuit Seminar for Law Enforcement Driver Trainers program. Decks with rotting framing members, spongy deck planking, and inadequate lateral bracing can result in structural collapse and serious injuries. Decks over 10 years old need yearly inspection, and Custom Deck Creations offers free deck inspections in the entire Southeast Michigan and Greater Detroit area, helping you keep your deck safe and sound. Decking is the planking you actually walk. Decking runs perpendicular to the joists and is nailed or screwed at each joist intersection, attaching the decking to the framing below. Railings, staircases, and banisters are the final components of a deck, allowing access and preventing people from falling off. Stair stringers are the large, notched pieces under the stair treads. Common sense can often give you a good feeling of how well your deck is aging. If the deck sways or shakes while you walk on it, obviously, this is a bad sign. However, some signs of aging are harder to detect, and a closer look at the structure may reveal problems in the making. Helpful Tools for Inspecting Your Deck The only two tools you really need for inspecting your deck are a strong flashlight and an awl. • 15. Essay on School Safety: Protecting the Students School Safety: Protecting the Students For many students a positive academic environment is increasingly harder to obtain. This is mainly due to their lack of safety. Whether it be inside the classroom or out. Unfavorable situations at home, psychological stability, physical dangers and violence all contribute to this evident shortage. There have been investigations on how organizations, teachers and parents collaborate together in today's society to influence the students understanding of safety in school. The purpose of this paper is to display some examples of each aforementioned contribution and show some of the current measures being taken to aid today's students. Developments within the past decade have opened up new ways...show more content... And with not caring about safety, leads to not caring of academics. As stated in the NEA article, This positive academic environment begins with safe families and safe communities, statistically, schools continue to be one of the most secure places for our children. When that is taken away from a student, they have no drive anymore to follow through with their education. A lot of the time weaponry is involved. Children find guns in parent's drawers, or just while they are playing at their friend's house. Older brothers and sisters who might be involved in gangs might have weapons lying around or even feel its cool to show off to their younger siblings and their friends. However, some of the worst violence is not weaponry. It is the harassment from student to student. Psychological stability is a big issue today when it comes to safety. Peer pressure has left children feeling the need to concentrate more on the popular things to do, then what is best for the student; an education. In fact, Hazler, Hoover, and Oliver (1996) reported that three–fourths of the school students they surveyed indicated that they experienced harassment and bullying to such an extent that they suffered academic, personal, and social difficulties (Hernandez). Bullying can impact a child when it comes to learning. Having someone of the same age, belittle, embarrass, and put a child down, most of the time leads the child to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Reflective Essay On Safety Prior and contemporary tragedies do not have to shape our future; safeness can be better maintained through consistency, promoting our militia, and respect for security including our policemen. "Our strength as a nation comes within our unity. We are the United States of America, not the divided states. Those that do not want us to divide try to divide us, and we should not let them do it." Our country is a substantial one, but if we walk through more safety procedures, I feel our nation will be the strongest. Listen to my reflection on our country and its current situation to understand how we could better ourselves for the future. Events where safety has been an issue is something I feel needs to be addressed. Security of our citizens is essential to development in our nation. When 9/11 took place, I was too young to even ponder what was going on; to this very day, it affected so many masses, I had to learn about thetragedy in class. The tragic event of 9/11 took place in New York where two aircrafts struck the Twin Towers, and they destroyed most of the people inside. This event made me wonder how the hijackers on the plane were even able to do this. This event made me realize that back then, our safety and precautions were not taken seriously. Also, the Orlando shooting in the homoerotic bar was just as terrible. It involved a man entitled Omar who started a massacre at a homoeroctic nightclub and killed 49 people just because of who they were and what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
