Walking is something that you learn at a young age and you don t remember anything about it. You also take it for granted. I on the other hand have learned it three times now and can tell you every detail about the entire process. I am one of the very few people that don t overlook it like it s something that isn t a big deal. Learning to walk is a blessing, but a difficult task. At the age of twelve is was granted the opportunity to play basketball all summer. I was playing at the SIU arena. Walking into the gym and looking at how high the ceiling was and how open the floor was made me feel even smaller than I was. The start of my second week we were working on just pointing my toes with the slight moving of my ankle. The pain that this caused I would cry, scream and get frustrated because I couldn t do something that simple either. I eventually got to where I could do it the middle of week four so then we worked on pulling my foot towards me which was again painful and a week and a half long process. Finally I could do all the little tasks without a problem! My therapist told me to stand, I told him I couldn t so he eased my mind and told me he d help me.
