1. My name is Crystal Dawn Linsey-Adkins. I am a former
Special Education Teacher, who worked with students who were on
the modified diploma track. I had always believed that educating
students with disabilities was my true calling. However, after
10 years in the profession, I decided that I wanted to do more.
I loved working with the kids, but because of issues with the
governmental policies that governed education, I decided that it
was time for me to leave the profession. I just wanted to help
children and not be told no that is not what we do in this
county. So, with a heavy heart I decided to look into different
career options. I was lead to the area of advocacy. Being an
advocate for a child is a rewarding way to help children get the
help that they need. In order to be a child advocate I need to
have an understanding of law, and that is what lead me to the
Paralegal Program at Pierpont Community and Technical College. I
possess many of the qualities that would make me an asset to the
Paralegal Profession and Advocacy of meeting deadlines,
organizational skills, the ability to continue to learn as I
progress in my career, and the desire to want to do a good job.
These are the skills that I possess that will aid me in my
career either as a Paralegal or a Child Advocate. I have
completed my Paralegal degree and now I am ready to begin a new
chapter in my life.
