1. Today’s Rehearsal: 10th June 2010
Today’s rehearsal that we had was about sorting out the lighting and technical things for
the show and did various run through’s just to block the scenes.
Pair Meeting
In our pairs, we discussed ways to improve our little scenes by adding sound effects and
getting the lighting sorted. We decided on having a spotlight that just focuses on us
throughout the whole scene. Since our scene is supposed to have an eerie feel to it, we
decided to have ghostly music of like wind and howling playing whilst we are digging.
We thought that we could put that together ourselves by using different clips and editing
it into a continuous sound or even recording it ourselves.
After we had decided on all the sounds that we needed, we just blocked how we were
going to exit and get into the next scene.
Group meeting
We then went into our larger groups and discussed the lighting and sound effects for our
bigger scenes as they are the most complicated. Again we directed the lighting designers
on how we wanted the lights on each little scene and the main two lighting styles that we
chose was spotlights and a fully-lit stage. The sound effects we plan to use are:
- A crowd cheering for Victoria Beckham = which we will be recording ourselves
- Football match crowd noise = we will be finding that
- Cartoon tiptoeing sound = we will be finding that
- Somebody shouting “security” and sirens = we will be recording the security
shouting and might be recording the sirens.
Initial Rehearsal
I went through our pair scene, group scenes and did a run through of the actual play. With
the help of my classmates, we came to decisions on the lighting and sound effects. We
also made changes to the ending of the show, as we didn’t feel that it went well with the
rest of the show. So we had to put our creativity together to create a new ending.
I think that the rehearsal went both well and not so well. This is because we did manage
to complete the lighting and sound effects and that was the lessons main aim but I think
that the concentration and listening levels could have been improved.
For the next time, my group performance needs to be improved in terms of cutting a
couple of things out of it and tightening it up. Then once all of the sound effects have
been added in, I think that my performance will be officially complete and ready to
perform.
