intelligent wear leveling software, and incredible flash density that supports 384TB raw capacity (or
610TBe) in a 2 RackU space using high capacity 15.36TB 3D NAND Flash drives (2x
improvement). Unity All-Flash configurations can start under $18K, deliver low TCO, and can scale
up to 10PB of raw system capacity or 16PBe.

CLOUD MANAGEMENT
Unity provides an integrated cloud management platform with capabilities for IT to stay connected
and resolve problems faster than before. This platform utilizes Unity Proactive Assist that includes
a self-service portal with a robust on-line set of community activities (live chat with Dell EMC,
videos, documentation, and more), direct parts ordering, system views, and dial home assistance.
Unity also implements Dell EMC CloudIQ, a no cost software-as-a-service cloud management
platform that implements real time intelligence and predictive analytics to provide an overall Unity
system Health Score based on performance, capacity, protection, system, and configuration data
with recommended remediation for faster resolution.
ALL-INCLUSIVE SOFTWARE
Unity All Flash configurations include all the software you need to easily consolidate and manage
virtualized application workloads. Unity’s all inclusive software includes a new HTML5 Unisphere
Management Suite, inline compression, and intelligent wear leveling, unified Protocols (File, Block,
vVols), unified Snapshots with Dell EMC AppSync integration, encryption, native replication,
AppSync and RecoverPoint Basic, RecoverPoint for VMs, and 180 day free VPLEX migration
license. Optional Dell EMC software including VPLEX, PowerPath, Data Protection platforms, and
Advanced Appsync and RecoverPoint solutions is also available.

2. TIERING TO THE CLOUD
IT can improve business efficiency by seamlessly tiering inactive File and Block data off Unity to
the cloud and reclaim primary storage capacity reducing capex and opex. Unity’s built-in file
tiering/archiving software allows customers to economically tier inactive files to either a
VirtuStream, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon S3 public cloud; or you can tier inactive block data to the
cloud with Dell EMC VPLEX™ and CloudArray™ combination
SCALABLE FILE SYSTEM
Unity All Flash supports enterprise and transactional NAS use cases with a new 64-bit scalable file
system. The Unity file system includes up to 256 independent VMDK clones, space efficient
snapshots with a simple space reclaim and low IO impact, file system shrink that can reclaim free
blocks, simplified Quotas for User, Tree and Group Quotas, and faster failovers with in-memory log
replay for faster and non-disruptive failovers.
SOFTWARE DEFINED STORAGE
Dell EMC Unity Virtual Software Appliance (UnityVSA™) software provides the advanced unified
storage and data management features of the Unity family, including software functionality, while
easily deployed on a VMware ESXi server. Users can create shared storage with NAS and iSCSI
SAN storage protocols and data services compatible with Unity hardware platforms, and deploy on
industry-standard server hardware. With the flexibility of software-defined storage, users can
quickly and easily deploy UnityVSA for a variety of uses including ROBO, test and development
and embedded applications, while maintaining full compatibility with their Unity hardware platforms.
DEPLOYMENT FLEXIBILITY AND SCALABILITY
Unity’s deployment flexibility recognizes that customers have different budget and operational
requirements. Unity is offered as a software-defined virtual storage appliance or as a purpose-built
all-flash or hybrid configuration that scales to 16TB effective capacity with inline compression and
mixed workloads. Unity is also delivered as part of a converged infrastructure with Dell EMC
