Community Leadership Nepal Foundation released the attached newsletter in December 2021, which features an update on its two initial projects and some background organization information.
1. CLNF Newsletter
December 2021
It is a pleasure to provide this newsletter to all of our Community Leadership Nepal Foundation friends and supporters.
The past 18 months of the global COVID pandemic has proved to be very challenging with the impact in Nepal quite severe at
times and in hindsight we are very proud of what we have been able to achieve.
Our teams in Nepal and Australia have been very positive in the face of such adversity and havent allowed the many issues
dampen our focus on building a strong organisation, as well as making an excellent start to our two foundation projects.
The patience and determination of our teams in Australia and Nepal, has meant that we are well positioned for making good
progress as we all move through 2022.
We would also like to invite all supporters to register for our big Celebration Evening and Fundraising Dinner to be held on
Friday 25th
March 2022. All details are set out in the attached flyer.

2. PROJECT UPDATE
Manechauka Sustainable
Agriculture Education Program
We were attracted to this project because it
involves working with up to 250 students on
Diploma in Agriculture courses in Food Science
and Animal Science.
Our involvement provides support for applied
education in the form of:
• community based practical agriculture
programs
• practical regenerative/organic agriculture
education
• more effective agribusiness
• reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers,
herbicides and pesticides.
This applied knowledge is taken back to the
students communities, and allowing transfer of
knowledge via community education modules.
The above photo shows a group of Dip Ag students working on
preparation of a school farm plot located within the campus of Shree
Tribhuvan Senior High School. The equipment has been part of the
funding to date provided by Community Leadership Nepal Foundation.
The school farm is a central part of our programme, aimed at
increasing the practical component of coursework. It is important that
students learn safe and sustainable agriculture methods, against the
backdrop of increased chemical use of fertilizers, weedicides and
pesticides in Nepal. They also get to learn alternative agriculture
methods and food types. Some of this experience is channelled into
modular courses which the students are trained on how to provide to
farmers in their home villages and communities.
EST 3 YEAR PROJECT BUDGET - $60,000 -
$75,000
FUNDS RAISED/SPENT TO DATE - $11,000
3. Ghyangphedi Community
Development Program
This program focuses initially on empowerment
of women and girls as a base for improving social
and economic conditions in the community.
The programme addresses a longstanding
problem of sex trafficking in the area, by
providing education for the girls and support for
their families.
This 3-4 year project has commenced with the
completion of a Girls Hostel and Empowerment
Center, which will be a key part of our initial focus
on Women and Girls Health and Education.
Further stages of the programme will focus on
economic and business projects in areas like
Agriculture and Tourism,
Other project components will focus on adult
education, social issues and community
leadership and governance.
The above photos show – 1) on the left a recent photo of an almost
completed building that will provide accommodation and support for up
to 33 girls, who previously lived too far away from the local school. It is
these girls that are vulnerable to widespread trafficking. The building is
called a Girls Empowerment Center which is funded by our USA
partner Global Orphan Prevention, with CLNF’s role primarily aimed at
setting up the operation of the Center and working with the girls and
their families, the local community and school to achieve the objective
of empowering families and girls themselves to avoid the trafficking
pathway, and 2) on the right a photo of the main village also called
Ghyangphedi which demonstrates the mountainous terrain endured by
the community. The main school building is prominent on the right with
an orange roof.
EST 3 YEAR PROJECT BUDGET - $90,000 to
$120,000
FUNDS RAISED/SPENT TO DATE – APPROX. $25,000
