The Behavior Inhibition System
Not much is known about where shyness comes from. It is known though, that shyness occurs when there is fear or discomfort around others. Most
research states that shyness comes from a combination of genetics and the environment. Based on twin and adoption studies there seems to be a
significant heritable component for shyness (Fordham & Stevenson–Hinde, 1999). Xu, Farver, & Shin (2014) believe that the behavior inhibition
system may have an effect on shyness. A physiological sign of shyness is increased cortisol levels (Doey, Coplan, & Kingsbury, 2014). Cortisol levels
are associated with stress and people who are shy experience stress in social situations. Eggum–Wilkens, Lemery–Chalfant, Aksan, & Goldsmith,
(2015) state that even though shyness

Reflection On My Writing
In the beginning of the semester my attitude towards writing was that I didn't like it because I was never good at it in high school. I always made
many mistakes, and didn't put enough detail. I also wasn't good with adding the right punctuation in my writing I was always missing commas or I
had a couple run ons, or fragment sentences. My ability in critical analytical thinking was terribly bad I didn't know what to underline or write in the
margins. I was used to summarizing the little chunks with words that were already in the paragraph, but we had to write it in our own words and that
was kind of hard for me. The analysis worksheet was also certainly tough for me I didn't know what to write for any of the questions. I always messed

My attitude and ability towards writing and critical analytical thinking have changed a little now that the semester is over. With my writing, I still
make mistakes but I feel like I add more details and my intro paragraphs are getting better I add detail but not too much and my hooks to get people's
attention is also better. When I did my research paper on little rock nine for my intro I had to give a background story about what it was like when
everything was segregated and then go into detail about little rock nine and what they went through. In another paper I had to write a character
analysis about Richmond flowers Sr. I tried to give as much detail about what he did, what his life was like, and what he went through I still had
punctuation mistakes but I still put as much detail as I could I just need to work on putting commas where they should go and make compound and
complex sentences also fix the run–on sentences. For the article analysis, I think I got better at writing marginal notes, but I still underline too many
words, I think that every word in the paragraph is important when really only a couple words

Persuasive Writing Assignment
What it is:
This certain site says that the intro. is first impression that a reader has when reading an essay.
What it should do:
Although the author doesn't delve further into what it should do she does say that it should lead into the topic that will spoken about in the essay. It
should also engage the audience into reading more of the essay.
Ways to help with introduction:
The author of this site emphasizes the need to have a good first sentence that should lead into the three to four sentences that will speak about the
essay's topic and will then state the thesis. The site also emphasizes different styles of "hooking" the reader into the essay. Some of the styles are
giving a surprising fact, allure with curiosity, giving a definition,

The Tang Dynasty had a very well structured government system. Their society was split into four classes: 士,农,工,商。士 was the
highest of all classes, they were the ones with the luxuries including having the power to have control over different battles which was a very

Example of a Well Structured Essay
Example of a well structured essay. The content isn't that exiting and the conclusion is quite weak, but there are many good points to make on the
way the essay is structured and the way the information is put across. All my comments are highlighted thus. A good introduction. Does the job of

Researchers Henderson and Zimbardo argue that one explanation of the cultural difference between Japanese and Israelis lies in the way each culture
deals with attributing credit for success and blame for failure. (2005, p. 20). "In Japan, an individual's performance success is credited externally to
parents, grandparents, teachers and others, while failure is entirely blamed on the person. Therefore the Japanese learn not to take risks in public and
rely instead on group–shared decisions." (Henderson and Zimbardo, 2005, p.22). In Israel, the situation is entirely reversed according to Henderson
and Zimbardo. "Failure is externally attributed to parents, teachers, friends and other sources, while all performance success is credited to the
individual's enterprise" (2005, p.22). The consequence is that Israelis are free to take risks since there is nothing to lose by trying and everything to
gain.(2005). Paragraph 5 Covers 3rd environmental cause In addition to family and culture, technology may play a role as well. In the United States,
the number of young people who report being shy, has risen from 40 percent to 50 percent in recent years (Payne, 2005). The rising number of shy
young people may be "due in part to the growing dependence on non–human forms of communication, coming about as a result of our huge advances in
technology" (Payne, 2005, p.6). Watching television, playing video games and surfing the web have displaced recreational activities that

Strong Thesis Statement Analysis
The four–step in essay writing: beginning with a strong thesis statement; gathering supporting evidence; organizing the evidence into complete
thoughts, and writing error free sentences provides a small window of opportunity to capture my reader's attention (Bethel University 2014). When I
choose to read a book, I will read the synopsis or first few lines. If the writer does not catch my attention, I will often opt for another choice because the
writer failed to capture the essence of their literary work. The thesis statement or first opening sentence of a paragraph serves the same importance of
capturing the reader's attention. This is similar to putting a blinking yellow light at an intersection. It gets the driver's attention.

A Movie A Word Rhetorical Analysis
The essay, "A Movie, a Word, and My Family's Battle", by Patricia E. Bauer former reporter for the Washington post, effectively argues that the use of
the term retard has become desensitized within American society. Bauer maintains an overall strong individual bias, a unique voice, and a powerful
family story that intends to fully capture the attention of the reader and invites them to view her perspective. By utilizing both a personal narrative and
movie example Bauer primarily targets a supportive audience, by appealing to emotion.
Bauer begins the essay by introducing her daughter who has down syndrome and the destruction the word retard inflicts upon those with disabilities.
She then criticizes the political incorrectness of the film Tropic Thunder and the movie industry's negative effects nationwide. Stating that since the

Though excelling in means of pathos and ethos, the argument has a shortage of strong logical evidence such as statistics to convince wavering readers.
The paper also lacks a strong thesis and structural argument, which is necessary when writing to both a wavering and hostile audience. Bauer's unique
position as the mother of a daughter who has down syndrome would potentially allow her to exploit the emotion of readers specifically those in a
wavering audience, though her stories are deficient of an in depth description of the pain and hardships contributed directly to the term retard. The
argument contains factors that would allow it to be fully effective such as a touching personal experience and connection to both the media and the
United States dilemma of discrimination and derogatory language. Despite including these positive aspects for a strong argument the author fails to
seek a solution, take a fighting stand, and deliver a passionate

A Well-Structured Framework
The health care system in the United States constitutes of a network that delivers health services to persons in need of health related assistance. It is
also a well–structured framework that is systematic thus making me believe that having access to health care is more of a right than a privilege. The
United States is also by far one of the most advanced countries in the world economically and healthcare should be made available and affordable to
those clinically in need. mention that as humans, various life experiences put us at risk of being a part of a vulnerable population and persistent
exposure to poverty, minimal access to high quality health organizations and dealing with major stressors impede our daily life activities making us most

Reflection About My Writing Process
My writing processes nowadays have changed thank you to my English 100 level class at Arizona Western College, I feel more confident with my
writing style. At the beginning of the class I was very confused with the writing process and the steps to make an essay. I had a difficult time
developing an outline and putting together my ideas, so I was not able to write an essay with a good structure. In addition, my grammar was not the
best, and some of my sentences were incomplete. During the class period I learned about grammar, how to write complete sentences, how to
brainstorm and the importance of an outline. It has become easier for me to organize my ideas in order to develop a well–structured essay. An essay
should contain a topic, one thesis, body paragraphs that support the thesis, and a conclusion. The thesis will tell the reader what is the writer
purpose of the essay, the body paragraphs support the thesis and the topic sentences of each one. Least but not last, I learned the importance of a
peer review, this process was very helpful in the class because I was able to receive constructive feedback from my classmates, and I was able to
improve my papers with the suggestions that my classmates gave me on my drafts. In this class I learned about three type of essays; narrative,
process, and persuasive essay. The narrative essay is used to tell a story, it is chronological, and usually involves the writerВґs point of view, and
feelings. The narrative essay has a lot of details to get the reader involve in the story, and make it more interesting. The process essay is used to
describe how to do something or how something occurs. For example; how to accomplish an activity, task, operation, etc. The process essay uses
body paragraphs to describe the steps needed to complete or finish the activity. The persuasive essay is used to convince the reader to believe or
adopt certain type of view. The persuasive essay uses arguments and facts to make the reader believe an idea by using logic and critical thinking. I
believe the persuasive essay is the most difficult one to write compared to the narrative and process essay because it is very difficult to focus on one
belief and change peopleВґs opinions regarding

Claudia has made a well–structured and fluently written essay. She is also making excellent use of citation with good paraphrasing, to support her
argument that critical thinking is important and should be encouraged in education. There is a tendency to spend too much time in references when
you could do more for elaborating and advancing your argument, for instance, how critical thinking may help in the evaluation of policies or solving
social problems.
I would like to address the use of English in your essay, particularly for several incorrect spelling and grammar, which I already marked and inserted
comments on your paper.
Another suggestion is about the Harvard style referencing. We need to put surname (not middle name and surname) and

Example Of A Lay Person Essay
A typical "lay person" is not expected to participate in the development of science or technology while they may have influence in what should be
studied through their need. Epstein argues that a "lay person" should not only be activists for a research but also participate in arguing the
credibility of research. He uses the example of AIDs research and how it evolved into a highly publicized and politicized area due to an increase
participation of AIDs activist. Another interesting idea presented is the move to emphasis the "victim" status of some who suffers from a disease as
well as increased empowerment of sufferers. The general role that Epstein proposes hopes to equalize the doctor–patient relationship and give people a
larger role in the regulation and research that may relate to them....show more content...
This is especially true with the drugs that will have a permanent effect on the body and everyone wants know what they are putting in their bodies.
Similarly to the idea of trust but verify, people expect to know if the experts that are helping them have realistic research and applications. The AIDs
example reminds me of the movie "Dallas Buyers Club" ,based on a true story, where the main character is a straight, formerly homophobic, AIDS
patient that was using an experimental treatment which was working for him. Due to the regulation in Texas he was unable to legally use it after the
study was over. Although the study was successful and thedrug worked it had to go through years of regulation before he could use it and instead had
to smuggle the drugs from mexico. He would then sell the drugs to both homo and hetero sexuals through what was called the "Dallas Buyers

Reflection Surrounding The Writing Process
The class discussions surrounding the writing process and your feedback concerning adding personality to my writing will be the subject of this
week's entry. First, I'd like to address the feedback concerning the personality (or lack thereof) that you've experienced in the writings I have submit
thus far. Throughout my academic career, including my experiences in the "ENG 111" course the emphasis as to what constituted excellentwriting has
always been placed on syntactics, correct adherence to conventions of American English grammar, and putting forth great effort to elevate diction
throughout the writing process (even if such diction might detract from the overall voice or tone of the final product). These precepts of writing being
ingrained...show more content...
Being that I've developed my own writing process that feels comfortable and to the best of my recollection works to achieve all necessary purposes
and scenarios I've thus far encountered, I have to say I'm rather averse to adapting my writing to better reflect this process or really any process that
involves the "overhead" I mentioned to in an earlier class. This aversion does not stem merely from the efficiency in writing time, but also from the
clear qualitative differences between writing I've done following a rigid process that is not my own versus following my own flexible and dynamic
process. Specifically, the initial suggestion the Pre–writing and drafting phases be compartmented from each other in my experience has resulted in a
sloppier final product unable to compete with others pieces of writing crafted purely from my own dynamic process of writing. However, in my
experience an "extended Pre–writing" as you termed it has indeed been helpful to organize my thoughts in a combined pre–writing and draft phase,
especially when dealing with more complex writing

This class has made an immense contribution in my writing journey. Taking this course has brought me out of my comfort zone and made me
immerse myself in a variety of essay topics I was not familiar with. This was all new territory for me, but I've managed to get through it and along the
way I learned new techniques and writing styles. With the help of the Writing Hub, instructors and my peers I managed to grasp a great deal of
information on ways to improve on my writing. They all helped me along the process of writing all three of the writing assignments. The very first
assignment was writing the analysis paper on the article of "Making Climate Change Understandable". I started off very confused especially because
a new word was introduced to me, warrant. I was not confident with my analysis skills and now I had to include a warrant. In class worksheets and
explanations by the instructor really helped me understand the prompt and structure of the paper. When I got to class one morning, most of the students
had annotated the article when reading. I, on the other hand, had never even thought of annotating the text. I know it seems like such an obvious and
essential task to do, however, the idea had never been suggested to me in my previous writing classes and unfortunately had not crossed my mind.
Thus, that was one major tip I learned here. From there on out I began to annotate all assigned texts, which was major help during my writing process.

My Years As A Writer
Throughout my years as a writer, I have learned many different types of writing styles that have benefited me and also confused me at some points. I
started writing longer essays when I went into the sixth grade; writing essay after essay. My teacher was a tough grader, so I would have a lot of
trouble trying to pass each essay. By getting those terrible grades as a new writer, I never thought of myself as a confident writer. As time went on, I
had more and more teachers that tried helping me with my writing, but nothing was working. All the different methods that I was taught, never helped.
It was not until I entered my junior and senior year of high school where I found two teachers that taught me how to make my essay structure better,

Reflection Paper About English Composition
English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout
the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the
information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not
one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to organize my essays,
examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and revising skills. In writing my personal, review, analytical, and cultural

I then described my life and who I was. After describing this, I explained my experiences in confronting racism. The point of the essay was to state
that racism is still alive and can be present anywhere. After writing this essay, I learned that my mechanics and style was not where it should be. Even
with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several
spelling mistakes. I looked to improve my mechanics after writing this essay.
With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay took some time to write because of the research I
needed to gather. In this essay I used more citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay in which
we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it. Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in
citations and quotations.
Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A
Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were needed
to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who created the source and decide if it was credible. This essay

The Behavior Inhibition System

  • 1. The Behavior Inhibition System Not much is known about where shyness comes from. It is known though, that shyness occurs when there is fear or discomfort around others. Most research states that shyness comes from a combination of genetics and the environment. Based on twin and adoption studies there seems to be a significant heritable component for shyness (Fordham & Stevenson–Hinde, 1999). Xu, Farver, & Shin (2014) believe that the behavior inhibition system may have an effect on shyness. A physiological sign of shyness is increased cortisol levels (Doey, Coplan, & Kingsbury, 2014). Cortisol levels are associated with stress and people who are shy experience stress in social situations. Eggum–Wilkens, Lemery–Chalfant, Aksan, & Goldsmith, (2015) state that even though shyness Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Reflection On My Writing In the beginning of the semester my attitude towards writing was that I didn't like it because I was never good at it in high school. I always made many mistakes, and didn't put enough detail. I also wasn't good with adding the right punctuation in my writing I was always missing commas or I had a couple run ons, or fragment sentences. My ability in critical analytical thinking was terribly bad I didn't know what to underline or write in the margins. I was used to summarizing the little chunks with words that were already in the paragraph, but we had to write it in our own words and that was kind of hard for me. The analysis worksheet was also certainly tough for me I didn't know what to write for any of the questions. I always messed up with...show more content... My attitude and ability towards writing and critical analytical thinking have changed a little now that the semester is over. With my writing, I still make mistakes but I feel like I add more details and my intro paragraphs are getting better I add detail but not too much and my hooks to get people's attention is also better. When I did my research paper on little rock nine for my intro I had to give a background story about what it was like when everything was segregated and then go into detail about little rock nine and what they went through. In another paper I had to write a character analysis about Richmond flowers Sr. I tried to give as much detail about what he did, what his life was like, and what he went through I still had punctuation mistakes but I still put as much detail as I could I just need to work on putting commas where they should go and make compound and complex sentences also fix the run–on sentences. For the article analysis, I think I got better at writing marginal notes, but I still underline too many words, I think that every word in the paragraph is important when really only a couple words Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Writing Assignment What it is: This certain site says that the intro. is first impression that a reader has when reading an essay. What it should do: Although the author doesn't delve further into what it should do she does say that it should lead into the topic that will spoken about in the essay. It should also engage the audience into reading more of the essay. Ways to help with introduction: The author of this site emphasizes the need to have a good first sentence that should lead into the three to four sentences that will speak about the essay's topic and will then state the thesis. The site also emphasizes different styles of "hooking" the reader into the essay. Some of the styles are giving a surprising fact, allure with curiosity, giving a definition, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The content isn't that exiting and the conclusion is quite weak, but there are many good points to make on the way the essay is structured and the way the information is put across. All my comments are highlighted thus. A good introduction. Does the job of clearly defining the topic covered in the essay and the specific aspects which will be discussed. Researchers Henderson and Zimbardo argue that one explanation of the cultural difference between Japanese and Israelis lies in the way each culture deals with attributing credit for success and blame for failure. (2005, p. 20). "In Japan, an individual's performance success is credited externally to parents, grandparents, teachers and others, while failure is entirely blamed on the person. Therefore the Japanese learn not to take risks in public and rely instead on group–shared decisions." (Henderson and Zimbardo, 2005, p.22). In Israel, the situation is entirely reversed according to Henderson and Zimbardo. "Failure is externally attributed to parents, teachers, friends and other sources, while all performance success is credited to the individual's enterprise" (2005, p.22). The consequence is that Israelis are free to take risks since there is nothing to lose by trying and everything to gain.(2005). Paragraph 5 Covers 3rd environmental cause In addition to family and culture, technology may play a role as well. In the United States, the number of young people who report being shy, has risen from 40 percent to 50 percent in recent years (Payne, 2005). The rising number of shy young people may be "due in part to the growing dependence on non–human forms of communication, coming about as a result of our huge advances in technology" (Payne, 2005, p.6). Watching television, playing video games and surfing the web have displaced recreational activities that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Strong Thesis Statement Analysis The four–step in essay writing: beginning with a strong thesis statement; gathering supporting evidence; organizing the evidence into complete thoughts, and writing error free sentences provides a small window of opportunity to capture my reader's attention (Bethel University 2014). When I choose to read a book, I will read the synopsis or first few lines. If the writer does not catch my attention, I will often opt for another choice because the writer failed to capture the essence of their literary work. The thesis statement or first opening sentence of a paragraph serves the same importance of capturing the reader's attention. This is similar to putting a blinking yellow light at an intersection. It gets the driver's attention. To make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. A Movie A Word Rhetorical Analysis The essay, "A Movie, a Word, and My Family's Battle", by Patricia E. Bauer former reporter for the Washington post, effectively argues that the use of the term retard has become desensitized within American society. Bauer maintains an overall strong individual bias, a unique voice, and a powerful family story that intends to fully capture the attention of the reader and invites them to view her perspective. By utilizing both a personal narrative and movie example Bauer primarily targets a supportive audience, by appealing to emotion. Bauer begins the essay by introducing her daughter who has down syndrome and the destruction the word retard inflicts upon those with disabilities. She then criticizes the political incorrectness of the film Tropic Thunder and the movie industry's negative effects nationwide. Stating that since the film's...show more content... Though excelling in means of pathos and ethos, the argument has a shortage of strong logical evidence such as statistics to convince wavering readers. The paper also lacks a strong thesis and structural argument, which is necessary when writing to both a wavering and hostile audience. Bauer's unique position as the mother of a daughter who has down syndrome would potentially allow her to exploit the emotion of readers specifically those in a wavering audience, though her stories are deficient of an in depth description of the pain and hardships contributed directly to the term retard. The argument contains factors that would allow it to be fully effective such as a touching personal experience and connection to both the media and the United States dilemma of discrimination and derogatory language. Despite including these positive aspects for a strong argument the author fails to seek a solution, take a fighting stand, and deliver a passionate Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Reflection About My Writing Process My writing processes nowadays have changed thank you to my English 100 level class at Arizona Western College, I feel more confident with my writing style. At the beginning of the class I was very confused with the writing process and the steps to make an essay. I had a difficult time developing an outline and putting together my ideas, so I was not able to write an essay with a good structure. In addition, my grammar was not the best, and some of my sentences were incomplete. During the class period I learned about grammar, how to write complete sentences, how to brainstorm and the importance of an outline. It has become easier for me to organize my ideas in order to develop a well–structured essay. An essay should contain a topic, one thesis, body paragraphs that support the thesis, and a conclusion. The thesis will tell the reader what is the writer purpose of the essay, the body paragraphs support the thesis and the topic sentences of each one. Least but not last, I learned the importance of a peer review, this process was very helpful in the class because I was able to receive constructive feedback from my classmates, and I was able to improve my papers with the suggestions that my classmates gave me on my drafts. In this class I learned about three type of essays; narrative, process, and persuasive essay. The narrative essay is used to tell a story, it is chronological, and usually involves the writerВґs point of view, and feelings. The narrative essay has a lot of details to get the reader involve in the story, and make it more interesting. The process essay is used to describe how to do something or how something occurs. For example; how to accomplish an activity, task, operation, etc. The process essay uses body paragraphs to describe the steps needed to complete or finish the activity. The persuasive essay is used to convince the reader to believe or adopt certain type of view. The persuasive essay uses arguments and facts to make the reader believe an idea by using logic and critical thinking. I believe the persuasive essay is the most difficult one to write compared to the narrative and process essay because it is very difficult to focus on one belief and change peopleВґs opinions regarding Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Claudia has made a well–structured and fluently written essay. She is also making excellent use of citation with good paraphrasing, to support her argument that critical thinking is important and should be encouraged in education. There is a tendency to spend too much time in references when you could do more for elaborating and advancing your argument, for instance, how critical thinking may help in the evaluation of policies or solving social problems. I would like to address the use of English in your essay, particularly for several incorrect spelling and grammar, which I already marked and inserted comments on your paper. Another suggestion is about the Harvard style referencing. We need to put surname (not middle name and surname) and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Example Of A Lay Person Essay A typical "lay person" is not expected to participate in the development of science or technology while they may have influence in what should be studied through their need. Epstein argues that a "lay person" should not only be activists for a research but also participate in arguing the credibility of research. He uses the example of AIDs research and how it evolved into a highly publicized and politicized area due to an increase participation of AIDs activist. Another interesting idea presented is the move to emphasis the "victim" status of some who suffers from a disease as well as increased empowerment of sufferers. The general role that Epstein proposes hopes to equalize the doctor–patient relationship and give people a larger role in the regulation and research that may relate to them....show more content... • 13. Reflection Surrounding The Writing Process The class discussions surrounding the writing process and your feedback concerning adding personality to my writing will be the subject of this week's entry. First, I'd like to address the feedback concerning the personality (or lack thereof) that you've experienced in the writings I have submit thus far. Throughout my academic career, including my experiences in the "ENG 111" course the emphasis as to what constituted excellentwriting has always been placed on syntactics, correct adherence to conventions of American English grammar, and putting forth great effort to elevate diction throughout the writing process (even if such diction might detract from the overall voice or tone of the final product). These precepts of writing being ingrained...show more content... Being that I've developed my own writing process that feels comfortable and to the best of my recollection works to achieve all necessary purposes and scenarios I've thus far encountered, I have to say I'm rather averse to adapting my writing to better reflect this process or really any process that involves the "overhead" I mentioned to in an earlier class. This aversion does not stem merely from the efficiency in writing time, but also from the clear qualitative differences between writing I've done following a rigid process that is not my own versus following my own flexible and dynamic process. Specifically, the initial suggestion the Pre–writing and drafting phases be compartmented from each other in my experience has resulted in a sloppier final product unable to compete with others pieces of writing crafted purely from my own dynamic process of writing. However, in my experience an "extended Pre–writing" as you termed it has indeed been helpful to organize my thoughts in a combined pre–writing and draft phase, especially when dealing with more complex writing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. This class has made an immense contribution in my writing journey. Taking this course has brought me out of my comfort zone and made me immerse myself in a variety of essay topics I was not familiar with. This was all new territory for me, but I've managed to get through it and along the way I learned new techniques and writing styles. With the help of the Writing Hub, instructors and my peers I managed to grasp a great deal of information on ways to improve on my writing. They all helped me along the process of writing all three of the writing assignments. The very first assignment was writing the analysis paper on the article of "Making Climate Change Understandable". I started off very confused especially because a new word was introduced to me, warrant. I was not confident with my analysis skills and now I had to include a warrant. In class worksheets and explanations by the instructor really helped me understand the prompt and structure of the paper. When I got to class one morning, most of the students had annotated the article when reading. I, on the other hand, had never even thought of annotating the text. I know it seems like such an obvious and essential task to do, however, the idea had never been suggested to me in my previous writing classes and unfortunately had not crossed my mind. Thus, that was one major tip I learned here. From there on out I began to annotate all assigned texts, which was major help during my writing process. Another Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Years As A Writer Throughout my years as a writer, I have learned many different types of writing styles that have benefited me and also confused me at some points. I started writing longer essays when I went into the sixth grade; writing essay after essay. My teacher was a tough grader, so I would have a lot of trouble trying to pass each essay. By getting those terrible grades as a new writer, I never thought of myself as a confident writer. As time went on, I had more and more teachers that tried helping me with my writing, but nothing was working. All the different methods that I was taught, never helped. It was not until I entered my junior and senior year of high school where I found two teachers that taught me how to make my essay structure better, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I believe the persuasive essay is the most difficult one to write compared to the narrative and process essay because it is very difficult to focus on one belief and change peopleВґs opinions regarding certain events. I found it difficult writing to convince others towards my beliefs. I addressed this difficulties by using the learning skills in this class; such as, brainstorming about the topic, making an outline, use evidence clear and precise, and look for facts that support my ideas. This semester I gained many writing skills. I learned how to use my critical thinking skills when writing a paper, how to analyze and evaluate a topic in order to develop an essay. Also, I learned about the outline, I never used this writing tool before, but it is such a helpful to brainstorm and organize my ideas. I improved my grammar and punctuation skills by using rules learned in the class; in addition, it was very helpful to receive the feedback from the professor, so I would take a look and try to not make the same mistakes again. My sentence structure is better, I used to put flip words around the sentence, and now I understand where to put verbs in the sentence, and how to make complete sentences. • 17. Reflection Paper About English Composition English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve my mechanics after writing this essay. With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay took some time to write because of the research I needed to gather. In this essay I used more citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay in which we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it. Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in citations and quotations. Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who created the source and decide if it was credible.
