Satire
Humor serves as a universal medicine. A good laugh is surely to cure any case of sadness. In literature, even though many times authors incorporate
satire just for humor, other authors like Jane Austen include satire to comment on specific practices of society. So called "good" satire consists of dry
humor with weaved in criticism that addresses social norms and common practices of a specific era. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
successfully satirizes society's view of marriage and the pressures society puts upon women to marry a man not for love but for a "business" relation.
In Pride and Prejudice, pressures of society force women to marry just for money and wealth, but some of the women see marriage as more than just a
"business." For...show more content...
The norm of society was to marry for wealth because more money meant a higher social status. However, Austen is not fond of marriage being just
a relation between two families and therefore uses Jane's character to show there must be some chemistry among the spouses in order for marriage
to be successful. Jane questions Elizabeth's engagement to Mr. Darcy because she thought Elizabeth disliked him: "And do you really love him
quite enough? Oh, Lizzy! do any thing rather than marry without affection" (353). Even though Jane does not want her sister to end up in a
relationship that she regrets her whole life, the social norms did not care about the conditions of a marriage as long as it was a marriage. Hence,
Austen satirizes the commonly lead notions because Jane tells her sister to make sure her relationship with Mr. Darcy has "affection" in it.
Furthermore, in the following Mr. Collins's character represents society's picture of a regular man who sees marriage as a "business": "but if she is
really headstrong and foolish, I know not whether she would altogether be a very desirable wife to a man in my situation, who naturally looks for

Stupidity or Satire?
Laughter can be an instinctive expression of lively amusement although we don't usually realise the offence of the joke we are laughing at. Tamara
discusses modern satire and its position in humanity. Sometimes the world we live in can be too blinded or careless to really discover the reasons
why we laugh at satirical comedy. Satire can be like a dream. When were in the dream we remember bits of details and when we wake up we don't
realise what our dream was about in the first place. Satire can relate to this because as were watching satirical things were able to laugh at the
subject of mockery even when it can be so stupid, yet when we walk away from it we forget what we watch and keep living our lives. TV shows such
as Summer Heights is well–known and prominent to a lot of people including myself and close family and friends. There are probably many different
reasons why we watch this stupid yet...show more content...

an outraged viewer.
Now, let us take a closer look at one of Lilley's mockumentaries, 'Jonah from Tonga' (see picture below). 'Jonah from Tonga' is an Australian television
series written by and starring Lilley. A satirical technique such as reversal is used throughout this whole mockumentary. It's TV series that follows the
life of Jonah Takalua, a rebellious 14 year old Australian boy of Tongan background who had been introduced in Lilley's 2007 series, Summer Heights

Satire In Satire
Satire: The Art of Exposing Foolishness Position is the incentive for society to innovate and perform. Those in high positions may think
themselves above society and they are fools for that thinking. As William Shakespeare wrote in his play As You Like It a, "fool doth think he is
wise, but as wise man knows he is a fool" (). One of the greatest pitfalls of society is the ignorance of its own foolishness, it is up to the wise to
recognize this and expose it for the benefit of the public. The wise use a literary technique known as satire, to perform this service for society. Within
satire there are the why's – the purpose, and the how's – the method, both of which contribute to the question: what is satire? Well, what is satire? A
basic definition would be the mode which combines humor, irony, and ridicule to bring about a recognition or change in society (). The types of satire
fall into two main categories: Juvenalian and Horatian. They derive from the...show more content...
Common techniques include: exaggeration, incongruity, reversal, and parody. Splitting exaggeration into two subcategories, defined by the
International Reading Association as, caricature and burlesque. It defines caricature as a physical exaggeration and burlesque as an exaggeration of
language or intelligence (). Incongruity includes the use of oxymora, metaphors, and irony, it also displays events that are improper to the setting ().
Parody imitates the style of some person, place, or thing; however, it is important for the reader to know the original to know what the author is
satirizing (). The last, reversal, simply means to present things out of order. An example that the IRA gives is, "when a young child makes all the
decisions for a family." An accomplished satirist can use all these techniques to fully convey the foolishness of the

Satire : Satire And Satire
If there is a universal aspect of developed societies it most likely expresses itself in satire. Satire, as defined by Google is the use of humor, irony,
exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people 's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical
issues. It seems to be especially prevalent in the current climate of America, from South Park to the Onion one never has to go far to get entertaining
commentary on the social or political happenings of the day. Satire is not a new literary device and satirical works have been documented in societies
as ancient as the early Egyptian empire. It has made regular appearances in works of literature ever since. Despite the widespread and longstanding
presence of satire on the earth, there are many who would say that satire is a largely American practice. This observation is likely due to the fact that
one of the world 's most famous satirists was born in America and oftentimes made America the subject of his works. This man 's name wasMark Twain
and he used his intimate knowledge of life in the South to write several satirical works commenting on the more disagreeable practices of Southern
society. His most famous satirical work, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is rife with satirical commentary on topics such as racism, religion, and
romanticism. In this novel, Twain uses his satirical skills to criticize what he views as negative aspects of Southern society, aspects such as

Satire On Drugs
The drug abuse is the most serious issue not only in United States but other parts of the world too. The statistic has shown that 24.4million of
American including teens from age of 12, had used an illegal drugs. The primary purpose of drug is a medicine which is to cure diseases, but people
in United States nowadays, have misused the usage of drugs by consuming them without recommendation or supervision from the expert. People use
drugs as a solution to reduce stress, to relieve the boredom, for enjoyment and also to forget all the dilemmas they have. Besides, drug also can act as an
energy booster. For example, when students take drugs, they able to stay up all night to study and complete all of their assignments while for athletes
they able to perform well during the competition and at the same time to stay fit. Sometimes, people use drugs as they are curious how the taste of
drugs is and want to experiment the feeling of drugs. They think by taking drug only once will not give any bad consequence to them. It is true for

for the community to live in and it can disrupt people's routine lives. Moreover, it can give negative perceptions to the investors from other countries

Satire Project
For my satire project, I chose the topic of the struggle of customer service and how it can influence you psychologically. The reason I chose this
topic was because I am in fact a part time worker at a fairly busy ice cream/ fine chocolate shop in which our primary goal is to keep the customer
happy and satisfied. But sometimes, the process of doing that can be challenging and draining for the employee, such as myself. Therefore I chose a
topic that I felt passionate about and that I could physically relate to, which helps to make my writing more effective.
I'm not much of an actor, nor an artist, leading me to use my strong suit which is writing, to present my idea. I decided to make it in a short story
form because that is the form that I like the best and the one that comes the most naturally to me, because I do indeed love telling stories. I included
two characters, one of them being an exaggerated version of myself, and the other one being my life coach...show more content...
I used a moderate amount of exaggeration as the life coach, who was exaggerating the situation that I was in and the solutions/ tips that iI could
use to solve my conflict. I also use a fair bit of mockery/ parody as I was describing the different types of customers that there are while making fun
of them and their values. Another example of mockery/parody that I used was making fun of life coaches/ motivational speakers/ inspirational
bloggers, etc. by using examples of activities that everyone suggests these days such as yoga, drinking smoothies, and doing all kinds of spiritual
activities. Last but not least, I also included a few small jokes here and there such as the reference to the quote by Hannah Montana, or the ben and
Jerry's ice cream scenario and a lot more that are not as noticeable as the rest of the techniques, but are certainly there to spice up the writing

As Charles Dixon walked in his office he was thinking about what other fun things he should do to punish the students at good ole Merced High.
As you could see Mr. Dixon is the commander, leader, or just as we call it today, a principal. After the war that happen between the students and the
staff there as been a lot more strictness to the school rules. Ever since I left this school its basically been more like a public military school. Your

When I showed up to school they had snipers all over me, unbelievable. I showed up to my first class and all the students were seated in there desk. I
heard Mr. Dixon put out a new rule out on the tardy policy, that if you weren't in your seat you were toasted. They still had the snipers up on the roofs
but they didn't only have that they had lasers installed in each class room that would just burn your skin off.
Through out the day I reunited with my old buddies. They were glad to see me back they knew I was going to get my revenge. I didn't want Dixon
running the program here at the Merced High so I was going to do something about it . I got the boys together and most of our senior class we
discuss about what kind of riot should we break out and though about what our consequences we could get by doing this. We all came up with an
idea we're going to all be late to class, you figure that there are only so many snipers that they cant get us all. Our main idea was to blow up the main
office, the attendance office, and one big part of the school's class rooms, by doing that there basically

Satire Essay
What is all around us? What is used every day? What makes some laugh? What is the answer to these questions? The answer is satire. Satire is a form
of criticism that can be used in many ways and in many different situations. Sometimes satire is easy to spot, other times it may be incognito. Satire is
commonly found in literary works, movies, cartoons, and even some news casts. The formal definition of satire is the use of humor to expose human
follies. (Dictionary.com). Satire is mostly written because a certain issue bothered the author. Through satire, these issues are brought into the sight of
others so that issues could possibly be improved. There are four techniques that are used to create a satire. There is exaggeration,...show more content...
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, satire can be found in the actions of one character named Piggy. Piggy is the boy that is the
nerd or intellectual of the group. Piggy represents the intellectuals that created that atomic bomb in WWII. Golding was strongly opposed to the
atomic bomb hence the satire in his novel. The first example of satire is found in chapter two .The boys are trying to start a fire and they are all
gathering wood except for Piggy. Instead of helping Piggy, ". . . just sat." (Golding 39) and watched everyone else do the work. This is an
example of Horatian satire. Golding doesn't outright say that he is making fun of the intellects, it is subtle. The next piece of satire is in chapter
eight. An assembly has been called and the decision of moving the fire onto the beach has been made. Piggy was the one who suggested this, and
because he was so proud of himself, he helped fetch wood (118). Even though he helped, the wood was close at hand so he didn't have to exert
himself too much. This is also an example of Horatian satire because Golding is implying that the intellects don't actually do that much work, they
tend to just boss people around unless they want to do a good deed every once in awhile. The one technique that is used here in both examples is
parody. Piggy is imitating the actions, or lack thereof, of the intellects who invented the atomic bomb. The next book that has satire in it is Harper

After the hellos and how you are small talk, my sister ventured out on her rhetoric. Supply and demand regulate nothing but the temporary
fluctuations of market prices. That there's no justice in this world. Few have them all and the rest of the world in poverty, she sighed in between

Abortion Satire Essay
"To Be or Not to Be"
What is this world coming to? Some people truly believe it is right to kill an innocent fetus. Mothers' who are old enough to conceive are old enough
to support a baby, whether they are barely a teenager or coming to the end of their "golden years." Regardless of the circumstance, a baby should
never be aborted. When women conceive a baby, immediately, thousands of responsibilities are placed in her hands. Whether you want to have a
human being to take care of or not, you will, with no other choice. Say, a women becomes pregnant and truthfully cannot afford a child, that situation
does not matter. If living on the streets is necessary, then she should take the initiative and do so. If drugs are merely...show more content...
A baby deserves to experience and witness life's beauties. If the mother tragically loses her life during childbirth, it is well worth it. Women should not
be able to make decisions about how to live their lives. Clearly, by the looks of the statistics, with approximately 42 million abortions a year, women
are foolish. Women should not have the option of deciding when or whether to have children. They do this by making choices regarding when to have
sexual intercourse and what contraceptive methods to use. The government should have all the power to make these decisions. Abortion reflects a
women's value, her family, and her career. All in all, abortion should never be justified under any circumstance. Everywoman should have at least one
baby in her lifetime because that is what life is all about. Reproduction, not deduction is a way of life. To ensure that every woman has a child,
women should be ordered to have sexual relations with their husbands, boyfriends, or male friends, or go to sperm banks to guarantee fertilization of
their next egg to be released. A fine up to $100,000 or years in prison should result in failure to do so. "So many eggs that have the potential to
become human beings, are being flushed down the toilet or soaked up in napkins every month," said a wise older man from New Haven, Connecticut,

Satires About Racism
Racism is something that has messed up our country for years. We've fought over it, there has been times where we thought it was over, but it
always lingers around and comes back somehow. I believe that it's the old generations that are bringing into the new ones. Racism is something we
learn, not something we're born with. When we're born, everyone's the same to us. We don't think that someone's not as good as us or that they're
going to do something we wouldn't. Just everyone is exactly alike in our eyes. However as we learn more, and pay attention, we create stereotypes.
At two years old we'll sit by anyone, no matter their color. But when we grow older we seem to only sit with the people that look us and are the same
as us. Why

dealing with thousands of homeless people blocking doorsteps and sidewalks disturbing us with their begging hands. While most claim to use the

themselves but us as well. First, this will get everyone off the streets and allow them to become a part of something that is profitable and
rewarding. There will no longer be an issue of homeless people. Second, think of all the improvements in medicine and surgery we could
accomplish. Or the advancements in technology we could reach. Think of the loved ones we could save through finding cures. Third, think of all the
millions and billions of dollars we could save and use towards something productive instead of throwing it away to charities or food banks. We need
to stop thinking of others and think of ourselves. We need to put ourselves first and do what is best for us. Now, don't talk to me about affordable

Example Of A Satire Essay
Satire is a literary technique used by writers to expose and criticize foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society by using humor, irony,
exaggeration or ridicule. It intends to improve humanity by criticizing its follies and foibles. Often a satire uses fictional characters that represent real
people, to depict and denounce their corruption. A few examples of satires would be The Canterbury Tales, Animal Farm, and Gulliver Travels. This
would be considered juvenalian satire because it is caustic and acerbic. Satire is usually aimed at ethical reform. Jonathan Swift: he took "delight in
revolting ideas from which every other mind shrinks with digust". (12)Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor

recognize our efforts to create powerful industries and production plants that produce endless chemical compounds and new materials. The discovery

I think I speak for many people when I say that I can’t wait for the day when it finally warms up around here. While being an Oregon resident
has it’s advantages, it just seems to lack in the sunshine department, and what a better way to brighten up any day than with 200 degree
weather. No more wasting snow days at school, no more long sleeved shirts, and finally an end to all that SPF mumbo jumbo. You know that without
an O–zone layer there’s going to be nothing strong enough on the market to protect our delicate skin. They’ll probably have some
kind of pill I can take instead. Even if some of the polar ice caps do melt, that just means more beaches for us on our new glorious days of sunshine.
So what if a few million people drown? I suppose earthweek is just another form of the government keeping us down. We have become far too
brainwashed when we start to feel guilty for living the life of careless slobs. Though, one week out of the year isn’t too bad to have to plant a
tree or recycle your plastics. It is the ones who spend their time and money developing new, safer techniques to ensure the health of our planet that need
our help the most. They just don’t seem to understand the detrimental importance of self consciousness. We as citizens, as Americans, as
human beings must take it upon ourselves to clear up any confusion and set these poor wasteful droids into the right direction.

Social Media Satire
Social media is addictive. Tweet– #Addicted. Facebook – Like my selfie. Snapchat – Snap me. I found myself on a painful and destructible path that
consumed my life, without realising that I too was playing that game of seeking external validation through social media. I finally saw the light at the
end of the tunnel and realised – We should start living in the real world. We should banish living in virtual reality and become interactive with people
again.
Social media has become entwined into our lives. Are you, like me, do you check your phone when you first wake? Do you secretly check your

allowing ourselves to become disconnected from human interaction, which is crucial human nature. Does Facebook have a responsibility to ensure

Satire reflects in different ways on our society today. While satire was all over back then today we mainly see it in political cartoons and on
television. On television there are show such as the Colbert Report and John Oliver who relay "news reports" to viewers. They are poking fun at
the news going in the world today. One of the biggest shows of Satire is SNL. Most recently they have had "Trump" on and have been making fun
of presidential career thus far. In today's society the big butt and boobs are the goal for many up and coming stars. For television hosts this gives a
chance for them to make parody's of them. For example, Ellen DeGeneres has dressed up as a fictional cousin of the Kardashians. In this costume she

Satire Examples In Literature
Satire is a genre of literature that uses wit for the purpose of social criticism and mocks societal problems, such as in government, business and
individuals to bring attention to certain follies, vices, and abuses. ("Satire Examples and Definition." ) The use of such a literary form serves to bring
attention to issues in society that should be improved. Satire is diverse, complex and commonly characterized in 3 ways, Horatian, Juvenalian, and
Menippean. Tomorrow's Bird" and "We ate the Children Last" are more of the Menippean style as they attack the mental attitudes rather than specific
individuals or entities. (Mennipean Satire) Satire, when used correctly is not about what is written but what is implied. Illuminating things in human
nature that need to be improved, such as the pursuit of power and corruption as seen in "Tomorrow's Bird" and "We Ate the Children Last".
"We ate the Children Last", the author uses satire to bring to light how easy in human society it is to forget the ugly aspects of our society by ignoring
the issues and or hiding the problem away instead of dealing with the root cause.
"Les Bons Samaritans, a lobby group for the poor, thought to apply this wondrous medical solution to a social problem. They suggested that the
operation be made available to those receiving social assistance." (Martel 103)
Irony is a popular tool used when writing satire, and it is ironic that the group charges with helping the less fortunate is named Les Bons

Satire

  • 1. Satire Humor serves as a universal medicine. A good laugh is surely to cure any case of sadness. In literature, even though many times authors incorporate satire just for humor, other authors like Jane Austen include satire to comment on specific practices of society. So called "good" satire consists of dry humor with weaved in criticism that addresses social norms and common practices of a specific era. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen successfully satirizes society's view of marriage and the pressures society puts upon women to marry a man not for love but for a "business" relation. In Pride and Prejudice, pressures of society force women to marry just for money and wealth, but some of the women see marriage as more than just a "business." For...show more content... The norm of society was to marry for wealth because more money meant a higher social status. However, Austen is not fond of marriage being just a relation between two families and therefore uses Jane's character to show there must be some chemistry among the spouses in order for marriage to be successful. Jane questions Elizabeth's engagement to Mr. Darcy because she thought Elizabeth disliked him: "And do you really love him quite enough? Oh, Lizzy! do any thing rather than marry without affection" (353). Even though Jane does not want her sister to end up in a relationship that she regrets her whole life, the social norms did not care about the conditions of a marriage as long as it was a marriage. Hence, Austen satirizes the commonly lead notions because Jane tells her sister to make sure her relationship with Mr. Darcy has "affection" in it. Furthermore, in the following Mr. Collins's character represents society's picture of a regular man who sees marriage as a "business": "but if she is really headstrong and foolish, I know not whether she would altogether be a very desirable wife to a man in my situation, who naturally looks for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Examples Of Satire Essay Stupidity or Satire? Laughter can be an instinctive expression of lively amusement although we don't usually realise the offence of the joke we are laughing at. Tamara discusses modern satire and its position in humanity. Sometimes the world we live in can be too blinded or careless to really discover the reasons why we laugh at satirical comedy. Satire can be like a dream. When were in the dream we remember bits of details and when we wake up we don't realise what our dream was about in the first place. Satire can relate to this because as were watching satirical things were able to laugh at the subject of mockery even when it can be so stupid, yet when we walk away from it we forget what we watch and keep living our lives. TV shows such as Summer Heights is well–known and prominent to a lot of people including myself and close family and friends. There are probably many different reasons why we watch this stupid yet...show more content... Lilley mocks several diverse subjects including Asians, private school girls, Polynesian teenagers, housewives, police officers, deaf people and juvenile detention facilities, just to name a few. "White men insulting other white men can be funny yet still amusing. Just as Chinese people mocking other Chines people can be amusing. What isn't funny is people like Lilley, a white male mocking ethnic minorities at their expense to gets some laughs" said an outraged viewer. Now, let us take a closer look at one of Lilley's mockumentaries, 'Jonah from Tonga' (see picture below). 'Jonah from Tonga' is an Australian television series written by and starring Lilley. A satirical technique such as reversal is used throughout this whole mockumentary. It's TV series that follows the life of Jonah Takalua, a rebellious 14 year old Australian boy of Tongan background who had been introduced in Lilley's 2007 series, Summer Heights Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Satire In Satire Satire: The Art of Exposing Foolishness Position is the incentive for society to innovate and perform. Those in high positions may think themselves above society and they are fools for that thinking. As William Shakespeare wrote in his play As You Like It a, "fool doth think he is wise, but as wise man knows he is a fool" (). One of the greatest pitfalls of society is the ignorance of its own foolishness, it is up to the wise to recognize this and expose it for the benefit of the public. The wise use a literary technique known as satire, to perform this service for society. Within satire there are the why's – the purpose, and the how's – the method, both of which contribute to the question: what is satire? Well, what is satire? A basic definition would be the mode which combines humor, irony, and ridicule to bring about a recognition or change in society (). The types of satire fall into two main categories: Juvenalian and Horatian. They derive from the...show more content... Common techniques include: exaggeration, incongruity, reversal, and parody. Splitting exaggeration into two subcategories, defined by the International Reading Association as, caricature and burlesque. It defines caricature as a physical exaggeration and burlesque as an exaggeration of language or intelligence (). Incongruity includes the use of oxymora, metaphors, and irony, it also displays events that are improper to the setting (). Parody imitates the style of some person, place, or thing; however, it is important for the reader to know the original to know what the author is satirizing (). The last, reversal, simply means to present things out of order. An example that the IRA gives is, "when a young child makes all the decisions for a family." An accomplished satirist can use all these techniques to fully convey the foolishness of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Satire : Satire And Satire If there is a universal aspect of developed societies it most likely expresses itself in satire. Satire, as defined by Google is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people 's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. It seems to be especially prevalent in the current climate of America, from South Park to the Onion one never has to go far to get entertaining commentary on the social or political happenings of the day. Satire is not a new literary device and satirical works have been documented in societies as ancient as the early Egyptian empire. It has made regular appearances in works of literature ever since. Despite the widespread and longstanding presence of satire on the earth, there are many who would say that satire is a largely American practice. This observation is likely due to the fact that one of the world 's most famous satirists was born in America and oftentimes made America the subject of his works. This man 's name wasMark Twain and he used his intimate knowledge of life in the South to write several satirical works commenting on the more disagreeable practices of Southern society. His most famous satirical work, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is rife with satirical commentary on topics such as racism, religion, and romanticism. In this novel, Twain uses his satirical skills to criticize what he views as negative aspects of Southern society, aspects such as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The statistic has shown that 24.4million of American including teens from age of 12, had used an illegal drugs. The primary purpose of drug is a medicine which is to cure diseases, but people in United States nowadays, have misused the usage of drugs by consuming them without recommendation or supervision from the expert. People use drugs as a solution to reduce stress, to relieve the boredom, for enjoyment and also to forget all the dilemmas they have. Besides, drug also can act as an energy booster. For example, when students take drugs, they able to stay up all night to study and complete all of their assignments while for athletes they able to perform well during the competition and at the same time to stay fit. Sometimes, people use drugs as they are curious how the taste of drugs is and want to experiment the feeling of drugs. They think by taking drug only once will not give any bad consequence to them. People who are under influence of drugs can act aggressively which means they can commit violence without consciousness and intentions. They are also willing to do anything such as rob, steal or at a certain point kill innocent people as they want money to buy drugs. As a result, the rate of crime will increase, the environment is not safe enough for the community to live in and it can disrupt people's routine lives. • 6. Satire Project For my satire project, I chose the topic of the struggle of customer service and how it can influence you psychologically. The reason I chose this topic was because I am in fact a part time worker at a fairly busy ice cream/ fine chocolate shop in which our primary goal is to keep the customer happy and satisfied. But sometimes, the process of doing that can be challenging and draining for the employee, such as myself. Therefore I chose a topic that I felt passionate about and that I could physically relate to, which helps to make my writing more effective. I'm not much of an actor, nor an artist, leading me to use my strong suit which is writing, to present my idea. I decided to make it in a short story form because that is the form that I like the best and the one that comes the most naturally to me, because I do indeed love telling stories. I included two characters, one of them being an exaggerated version of myself, and the other one being my life coach...show more content... I used a moderate amount of exaggeration as the life coach, who was exaggerating the situation that I was in and the solutions/ tips that iI could use to solve my conflict. I also use a fair bit of mockery/ parody as I was describing the different types of customers that there are while making fun of them and their values. Another example of mockery/parody that I used was making fun of life coaches/ motivational speakers/ inspirational bloggers, etc. by using examples of activities that everyone suggests these days such as yoga, drinking smoothies, and doing all kinds of spiritual activities. Last but not least, I also included a few small jokes here and there such as the reference to the quote by Hannah Montana, or the ben and Jerry's ice cream scenario and a lot more that are not as noticeable as the rest of the techniques, but are certainly there to spice up the writing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. satire Essay example Satire As Charles Dixon walked in his office he was thinking about what other fun things he should do to punish the students at good ole Merced High. As you could see Mr. Dixon is the commander, leader, or just as we call it today, a principal. After the war that happen between the students and the staff there as been a lot more strictness to the school rules. Ever since I left this school its basically been more like a public military school. Your probably wondering why I'm not at Merced High School well, I got kicked out. When I showed up to school they had snipers all over me, unbelievable. I showed up to my first class and all the students were seated in there desk. I heard Mr. Dixon put out a new rule out on the tardy policy, that if you weren't in your seat you were toasted. They still had the snipers up on the roofs but they didn't only have that they had lasers installed in each class room that would just burn your skin off. Through out the day I reunited with my old buddies. They were glad to see me back they knew I was going to get my revenge. I didn't want Dixon running the program here at the Merced High so I was going to do something about it . I got the boys together and most of our senior class we discuss about what kind of riot should we break out and though about what our consequences we could get by doing this. We all came up with an idea we're going to all be late to class, you figure that there are only so many snipers that they cant get us all. Our main idea was to blow up the main office, the attendance office, and one big part of the school's class rooms, by doing that there basically Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Satire Essay What is all around us? What is used every day? What makes some laugh? What is the answer to these questions? The answer is satire. Satire is a form of criticism that can be used in many ways and in many different situations. Sometimes satire is easy to spot, other times it may be incognito. Satire is commonly found in literary works, movies, cartoons, and even some news casts. The formal definition of satire is the use of humor to expose human follies. (Dictionary.com). Satire is mostly written because a certain issue bothered the author. Through satire, these issues are brought into the sight of others so that issues could possibly be improved. There are four techniques that are used to create a satire. There is exaggeration,...show more content... In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, satire can be found in the actions of one character named Piggy. Piggy is the boy that is the nerd or intellectual of the group. Piggy represents the intellectuals that created that atomic bomb in WWII. Golding was strongly opposed to the atomic bomb hence the satire in his novel. The first example of satire is found in chapter two .The boys are trying to start a fire and they are all gathering wood except for Piggy. Instead of helping Piggy, ". . . just sat." (Golding 39) and watched everyone else do the work. This is an example of Horatian satire. Golding doesn't outright say that he is making fun of the intellects, it is subtle. The next piece of satire is in chapter eight. An assembly has been called and the decision of moving the fire onto the beach has been made. Piggy was the one who suggested this, and because he was so proud of himself, he helped fetch wood (118). Even though he helped, the wood was close at hand so he didn't have to exert himself too much. This is also an example of Horatian satire because Golding is implying that the intellects don't actually do that much work, they tend to just boss people around unless they want to do a good deed every once in awhile. The one technique that is used here in both examples is parody. Piggy is imitating the actions, or lack thereof, of the intellects who invented the atomic bomb. The next book that has satire in it is Harper Lee's To kill a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Satire Essay About Life After the hellos and how you are small talk, my sister ventured out on her rhetoric. Supply and demand regulate nothing but the temporary fluctuations of market prices. That there's no justice in this world. Few have them all and the rest of the world in poverty, she sighed in between each theory. Life today is a great sea of bustle and activity with everyone on the move. That if we don't follow the trends, we're out of it. • 10. Abortion Satire Essay "To Be or Not to Be" What is this world coming to? Some people truly believe it is right to kill an innocent fetus. Mothers' who are old enough to conceive are old enough to support a baby, whether they are barely a teenager or coming to the end of their "golden years." Regardless of the circumstance, a baby should never be aborted. When women conceive a baby, immediately, thousands of responsibilities are placed in her hands. Whether you want to have a human being to take care of or not, you will, with no other choice. Say, a women becomes pregnant and truthfully cannot afford a child, that situation does not matter. If living on the streets is necessary, then she should take the initiative and do so. If drugs are merely...show more content... A baby deserves to experience and witness life's beauties. If the mother tragically loses her life during childbirth, it is well worth it. Women should not be able to make decisions about how to live their lives. Clearly, by the looks of the statistics, with approximately 42 million abortions a year, women are foolish. Women should not have the option of deciding when or whether to have children. They do this by making choices regarding when to have sexual intercourse and what contraceptive methods to use. The government should have all the power to make these decisions. Abortion reflects a women's value, her family, and her career. All in all, abortion should never be justified under any circumstance. Everywoman should have at least one baby in her lifetime because that is what life is all about. Reproduction, not deduction is a way of life. To ensure that every woman has a child, women should be ordered to have sexual relations with their husbands, boyfriends, or male friends, or go to sperm banks to guarantee fertilization of their next egg to be released. A fine up to $100,000 or years in prison should result in failure to do so. "So many eggs that have the potential to become human beings, are being flushed down the toilet or soaked up in napkins every month," said a wise older man from New Haven, Connecticut, "It disgusts me that so many babies are being killed every month. • 11. Satires About Racism Racism is something that has messed up our country for years. We've fought over it, there has been times where we thought it was over, but it always lingers around and comes back somehow. I believe that it's the old generations that are bringing into the new ones. Racism is something we learn, not something we're born with. When we're born, everyone's the same to us. We don't think that someone's not as good as us or that they're going to do something we wouldn't. Just everyone is exactly alike in our eyes. However as we learn more, and pay attention, we create stereotypes. At two years old we'll sit by anyone, no matter their color. But when we grow older we seem to only sit with the people that look us and are the same as us. Why Get more content on HelpWriting.net

So we ask ourselves; why are people still without homes when new jobs are being created everyday or when unemployment still has not reached zero? This seems to be an ever haunting problem even though it would be so easy to erase it. I think we have reached our limits of dealing with thousands of homeless people blocking doorsteps and sidewalks disturbing us with their begging hands. While most claim to use the money we provide them to buy food or shelter, most will use it feed their addictions. Do you want your money being spent on cigarettes and alcohol? Why should we have to give...show more content... Think of all the advancements in technology we could arrive at through using these people for research. We'll be one step closer to a cure for cancer. We'll be one step closer to beauty products helping us look 10 years younger. Using the homeless experimentally will not only benefit themselves but us as well. First, this will get everyone off the streets and allow them to become a part of something that is profitable and rewarding. There will no longer be an issue of homeless people. Second, think of all the improvements in medicine and surgery we could accomplish. Or the advancements in technology we could reach. Think of the loved ones we could save through finding cures. Third, think of all the millions and billions of dollars we could save and use towards something productive instead of throwing it away to charities or food banks. We need to stop thinking of others and think of ourselves. We need to put ourselves first and do what is best for us. Now, don't talk to me about affordable housing or inclusive mental health services. Don't talk to me about tax–funded services such as shelters, food banks or health centers. Example Of A Satire Essay Satire is a literary technique used by writers to expose and criticize foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society by using humor, irony, exaggeration or ridicule. It intends to improve humanity by criticizing its follies and foibles. Often a satire uses fictional characters that represent real people, to depict and denounce their corruption. A few examples of satires would be The Canterbury Tales, Animal Farm, and Gulliver Travels. This would be considered juvenalian satire because it is caustic and acerbic. Satire is usually aimed at ethical reform. Jonathan Swift: he took "delight in revolting ideas from which every other mind shrinks with digust". • 14. Environmental Satire Essay Environment Satire It has come to my attention that our nation is in the middle of earthweek. At a time when we all stop, as Americans, and take a look at all of the great accomplishments we have made that we could have possibly overlooked while running around with our busy schedules. We recognize our efforts to create powerful industries and production plants that produce endless chemical compounds and new materials. The discovery and use of fossil fuels, of which has fed our automobiles and at times added a protective coating to our shores and beaches. The men and women who clear the land and provide the materials for our homes. And what about electricity? The greatest discovery of alltime. We must not forget about the men ...show more content... I think I speak for many people when I say that I can’t wait for the day when it finally warms up around here. While being an Oregon resident has it’s advantages, it just seems to lack in the sunshine department, and what a better way to brighten up any day than with 200 degree weather. No more wasting snow days at school, no more long sleeved shirts, and finally an end to all that SPF mumbo jumbo. You know that without an O–zone layer there’s going to be nothing strong enough on the market to protect our delicate skin. They’ll probably have some kind of pill I can take instead. Even if some of the polar ice caps do melt, that just means more beaches for us on our new glorious days of sunshine. So what if a few million people drown? I suppose earthweek is just another form of the government keeping us down. We have become far too brainwashed when we start to feel guilty for living the life of careless slobs. Though, one week out of the year isn’t too bad to have to plant a tree or recycle your plastics. It is the ones who spend their time and money developing new, safer techniques to ensure the health of our planet that need our help the most. They just don’t seem to understand the detrimental importance of self consciousness. We as citizens, as Americans, as human beings must take it upon ourselves to clear up any confusion and set these poor wasteful droids into the right direction. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Social Media Satire Social media is addictive. Tweet– #Addicted. Facebook – Like my selfie. Snapchat – Snap me. I found myself on a painful and destructible path that consumed my life, without realising that I too was playing that game of seeking external validation through social media. I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel and realised – We should start living in the real world. We should banish living in virtual reality and become interactive with people again. Social media has become entwined into our lives. Are you, like me, do you check your phone when you first wake? Do you secretly check your messages in class? Do you check who's liked your post? I'm guessing you've answered YES to these entire questions! We have all been there, it's like ...show more content... Social Anxiety is described as "the fear of interaction with other people that brings on self–consciousness, feelings of being negatively judged and evaluated, and, as a result leads to avoidance" suggesting the more we seek gratification from others the more disconnected we become. Consequently I believe we are all susceptible to Social Anxiety to a degree, as we have all at some point in life become addicted to social media, allowing ourselves to become disconnected from human interaction, which is crucial human nature. Does Facebook have a responsibility to ensure the safety of the mental health of its users? Should they raise the joining age from 13 to 18, to allow people to mentally develop properly? • 16. Example Of A Satire Research Paper Satire Essay Social Media is taking the life out of our youth's every day. More and more of our youths is turning into big couch potatoes because they are always on an electronic device. It seems like everything that have a colorful touch screen they are on it. What happen to the good old days when you can go outside and enjoy nature? What happen when you can easily communicate to them without texting them or spelling words right. We all are capable of communicating with words; we don't need emoji's. My plan is to put all the electronics in a rocket and shoot them to outer space. If we do that the youth can't be on social media and then they will learn how to communicate. This might be fun for them because then they will learn how Get more content on HelpWriting.net
