3. Pre-KSD
Actively a part
of the hearing
culture.
Ignorant of the
Deaf culture.
Taken by a photographer for Ohio County
Times-News during my interview in 2005 which
showed up in newspapers.
All six photos above are personal photos of mine circa 2005-2008.

7. Behavioral Rules
What is considered a polite way to get
attentions?
What is considered rude?
8. Signing
O Facial expressions are complementary to
American Sign Language.

9. ASL was developed as a language of its
own, it was not based on any previous
language.
SEE was based on English.
10. ASL
Distinct order of words.
Very different from English.
It can only be roughly translated to English.
11. ASL users are typically, but not all, poor in
English.
Incorrect order of words but yet so similar in
fashion.
They usually had problems with helping
verbs.
12. Why?
Most of the KSD students I have came across had
problems with English but why were they so similar
in the way they wrote English?
Any ideas?
13. Incorporation of ASL syntax and
grammatical rules into English as it is
written.
It does not work that way because they
are completely different languages.
