FOTE strives to build families through
promoting, instructing, directing and referring
families using the following programs:
Elderly Assistance…… Outreach Services to help
assist with housing materials, renovations/repairs
(donated services from various providers), clothing, food,
holiday food baskets, and gifts. Referrals for Doctor’s
Care, Prescription Assistance, & Eye Care/Glasses. For
Grandparents with the responsibilities as Parents we
offer referrals & guidance.
Parenting, Counseling & Budgeting….
Focused on parenting skills, communication skills, family
workshops, child abuse prevention, infant care, food
preparation, and household maintenance & care on site
or through referral agencies. Counseling services are
FOTE sponsored one-on-one counseling, group
counseling, guest speakers provided by FOTE or through
referrals. Budgeting on personal home budget,
budgeting household income, and expenses, & planning
for future securities by FOTE or through referral.
Housing…. We offer referrals to local area shelters,
when necessary. FOTE operates an Outreach/Aftercare
Program; which allows families who have secured
housing, to utilize available resources from FOTE to help
continue the success of a stable family environment.
FOTE apartments, when available, on subsidized rental
expense.
Education/Career Development & Job
Placement Assistance… Building resumes,
interview skills, working with temporary agencies, to
apply for educational funding and referrals to agencies
for job opportunities sponsored by FOTE.
Drug Rehabilitation Referral… Referrals to Norfolk,
Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk,
Hampton and Newport News Community Services Board
and referral to local agencies; sponsored by FOTE.
Kids First Programs…. Tutorial programs, safety
awareness, children clean up program, bible study upon
request
