Editor's Notes
Need to help explain how technical writing is not only for how to’s and instructions.
Brad Manzo says, “Technical writing is a broad term covering everything from product-user guides to highly technical manuals for engineers.”
Technical writing heavily relies on communication with other people that you are working with.
Also need to explain how part of the job is to know the general audience and tailor the information to that group.
Talk about how important it is to get your website to correctly portray your message, as it is likely the first way a consumer/user will interact with your business.
Talk about how you need to tailor the information differently depending on the desired audience. As a magazine for a child might insult the intelligence of a grown adult.
These environmental writers need to work will law makers to help create successful changes in our environment.
They can help slow irreversible damage to the planet if they can explain the risks of human caused changes.
Should describe how important it is to create an accurate vision, as bad wording could destroy the image you are trying to create. You could then lose the customer before you even finish your proposal.
These types of writers are very important to businesses, because if you don’t promote your products/ideas people will never get their hands on them.
They also need to accurately describe the products to prevent lawsuits and other legal troubles.
Deborah Grimstead says, “objective is the same as always: to convey scientific and technical information concisely,
accurately, and clearly.”
So as long as you can clearly convey a message, there should always be an opportunity in the technical writing field.
