6. Let’s remember a few things ...
• Orkut was a social networking website owned and
operated by Google. The service was designed to
help users meet new and old friends and maintain
existing relationships. The website was named after
its creator, Google employee Orkut Büyükkökten.

7. • MSN (originally The Microsoft Network; stylized as msn)
is a collection of Internet websites and services provided
by Microsoft. The Microsoft Network debuted as an online
service and internet service provider on August 24, 1995,
to coincide with the release of the Windows 95 operating
system.

8. • ICQ is an instant messaging computer program that was
first developed and popularized by the Israeli company
Mirabilis. Since 2010 it has been owned by Mail.Ru
Group.
• The ICQ client application and service were initially
released in November 1996 and the client was freely
available to download. Users could register an account
and would be assigned a number, like a phone number,
for others to be able to contact them

9. • Facebook (formerly Thefacebook) is an online social
networking service headquartered in Menlo Par,
California. Its website was launched on February 4, 2004,
by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and
fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin,
Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
The founders had initially limited the website's
membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to
colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford
University.
