The AIDS Assistance Program (AAP) held a successful Independence Day celebration in July and received grants totaling $55,000 from local foundations to help those suffering from chronic illnesses over the summer months. Upcoming events include the Jeannette Rockefeller Angel Program kickoff in October featuring Mary Wilson and a holiday party in November with singer Keisha D. Support is still needed to provide $50,000 in monthly food vouchers for AAP clients.

1. AUGUST NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone!
Summer is definitely in full swing, and to help you stay cool over the next few months I
hope you have a vacation planned or other fun activities scheduled.
A big THANK YOU to everyone attended our Independence Day Celebration at the
historic O’Donnell House. The annual July 4th party included refreshing drinks and
fabulous food by Lulu California Bistro, and there’s no place better to watch the City’s
spectacular fireworks display than up on the mountain above the Palm Springs Art
Museum. We appreciate those who braved the heat to join us for a delightful evening!
Great news! AAP is the recent recipient of grants from two local philanthropic
organizations. The Grace Helen Spearman Charitable Foundation of Palm Springs
awarded a $40,000 grant, and the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation awarded a
$15,000 grant. These funds will go a long way towards helping the less fortunate in our
community who are suffering with chronic serious illness, and we can’t thank these
foundations enough for the additional funds to help sustain us during the summer
months, which tend to be a challenge for our cash flow.
Our Jeannette Rockefeller Angel Program Kickoff Party will take place on Sunday,
October 11, 2015, and I’m excited to announce that it will feature a very special
performance by our dear friend Mary Wilson of the Supremes. This exciting annual event
officially kicks off our season of giving, and the entertainment for Evening Under the
Stars 2016 will also be announced that night. Please mark your calendar! More
information about the party and the amazing venue we’ve secured may be found below.
I’d also like to remind you that AIDS Assistance Program has been invited to benefit
from Barry Manilow’s 2015 A Gift of Love Christmas Charity Concerts at the McCallum
Theatre. Scheduled to take place on December 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13, Manilow’s A Gift of
Love III concerts will feature his hit songs and holiday favorites. You can support AAP by
purchasing VIP Premium tickets, which range from $350 to $3,125 each and are not
available at the McCallum box office. Please select AIDS Assistance Program as your
designated charity when making your purchase. To learn more and to order these
exclusive tickets for yourself or as a gift, please visit www.agiftoflove3.com or call 310-
957-5788.
Here’s another holiday surprise I’d like to share: AAP is serving up an evening of comfort
and joy this holiday season, mixed in with a little smooth jazz and blues. Our ‘Eat, Drink
& Be Merry’ Holiday Party on Saturday, November 28 will feature local singing sensation
Keisha D, winner of the prestigious Best Vocalist title in McCallum Theater's 2008 Open
Call competition. All the details may be found below, including a link to purchase tickets.
Your continued support during the summer means so much to us. Even though it
appears as though things are slow, we must still raise $50,000 each month to provide
food vouchers to our clients. If you would like to participate in this rewarding work,
please contact me to learn how you can help AAP and our new Food Samaritans
venture. To our donors, volunteers, community partners, and other supporters, I hope
you know how much you are appreciated. Thank you for all that you do!
