Aircrew Survival Equipment-man
Supervisor: Terrence Mejos (+816160523914)
Okay to contact this Supervisor: Yes
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing parachutes, seat pans, survival
equipment, and flight and protective clothing and equipment; packs and rigs parachutes;
packs and equips life rafts; troubleshoots oxygen systems, repairs and tests oxygen
regulators and liquid oxygen converters removed from aircraft; fits and maintains
oxygen masks, flight clothing, anti-exposure suits and anti G suits; operates and
maintains carbon dioxide transfer and recharge equipment; operates and repairs sewing
machines; conduct special calendar/periodic inspections of survival equipment;
supervises operation of parachute lofts and survival equipment work centers.
- Personnel Supervision/Management: The bulk of my experience in a managerial
position has come from my time spent in the Navy. As a work center supervisor in the
Navy I organized three effective work shifts to include Days/Nights/Mid-shifts to ensure
a level of proficiency and continuity was maintained so that each shift could effectively
pick up where the last one ended. Coordinated training and staff development to
2. include but not limited to sexual harassment, equal opportunity, explosive ordnance
handling, 3M maintenance training, HazMat (Hazardous Materials). Coordinated
collateral duties in the work center making sure that work-center personnel maintained
continuous knowledge of the various programs which were essential to conduct and
maintain good business.
- Detailed Oriented: In the position of work-center supervisor while I was in the Navy
"attention to detail" is the only way by which we conduct business. It was my job to
monitor several programs which were maintained by my subordinates to keep our
work-center at the peak of performance. My duties included random audits and "spot
checks" to verify that the programs were being carried out via Naval instruction and also
safety was being observed where and when needed. This job also included the
necessary training and lecturing if and when a program was not followed correctly, in
order to ensure that the junior person who was maintaining the program could
effectively resume his or her responsibilities.
- Preparation and overview of administrative budget: Monitored administrative budget
practices by performing routine inspections and continuous maintenance of aircraft
equipment that determined if it was necessary to condemn an item; when the cost of
repair was greater than the cost to condemn. Provided recommendations for the
command to consider as a direct impact on the budgeting and procurement of new
aircraft equipment.
- Order fulfillment/Shipping: Managed the ordering and tracking of supplies and work
related requisitions to maximize mission capability, readiness, and effectiveness of three
Navy aviation life support work centers.
