This document discusses plans to scale up fair trade by connecting Asian small producers with international buyers through online marketing initiatives. It will present opportunities for businesses to source products from over 17 countries in seven market segments without needing to travel. Producers will be brought online through a virtual interface to interact directly with buyers. The initiative aims to lower costs and barriers for businesses to source fairly traded goods from marginalized producers in Asia. A series of online sessions will be held to promote producer organizations and their products to international buyers. In-person networking and product displays are also planned during the Asia Fair Trade Summit in Bangkok.

1. Scaling Up Fair Trade
On line marketing interface
October 2016
There are thousands of Asian small producers who need help from the trade, and there are
hundreds of businesses around the world, who want to help. But the problem, often, is the place
for the intersection of such great hearts to meet and interact. The cost and time for businesses
involved in traveling to the remote villages to source from marginalized producers are often too
high or too long. At the Asia Fair Trade Summit, through ‘The Scaling Up Fair Trade’ initiative, we
are trying to do the best for both the businesses and the producers.
Presenting an opportunity for the business to reach out to Asian Fair Trade producers from 17
countries producing products from seven different market segments.
No, you don’t need to book your air tickets to tap this opportunity. All you need is a computer or
mobile phone with an internet connection. We are bringing Asia’s producers straight from their
farms and places of production to your office. All you need to do is log in, hear, and interact
directly with the producers. Through this, through technology, we are planning to bring all change
agents into a single room—well, without a “Room.”
