Christopher Hughes is a clinical psychology PhD candidate at Rutgers University. He has a BA in psychology from James Madison University and an MA in psychology from American University. His research focuses on borderline personality disorder and dialectical behavior therapy. He has published and presented work on identity disturbance, emotion regulation, and using mobile apps to enhance DBT treatment. Hughes has clinical experience providing crisis counseling and tutoring. He is currently researching DBT for BPD at Rutgers under Dr. Shireen Rizvi.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Clinical Researcher, DBT Clinic, Rutgers University, August 2014 to Present
Under the supervision of Dr. Shireen Rizvi, conducted research on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Dialectical
Behavior Therapy (DBT). Specifically investigating the effectiveness of DBT as a treatment for individuals suffering
from BPD provided in a university training/research clinic, and the benefit of incorporating mobile application skills
coaching into DBT treatment.
Graduate Researcher,Stress and Emotion Lab, American University, August 2012 to May 2014
Under the supervision of Dr. Kathleen Gunthert, conduct research for master’s thesis on the relation between negative
affectivity, spending motivation and purchase inefficiencies. Also assisted on additional projects with literature review,
data analysis, manuscript writing and editing, as well as research design and data collection. Was trained in HLM and
multilevel modeling data entry, analyses, and interpretation.

After completing 60 hours of training, volunteered 3 hours per week as a listener on the CrisisLink suicide prevention and
