Students from Liverpool’s universities staying at Liberty Living’s Atlantic Point student accommodation, have
received a fresh new look this summer as part of an extensive refurbishment project being carried out.
Principle contractor Create Construction sub-contracted Bagnalls to complete the painting and decorating works
of the refurbishment, which included 928 en-suite bedrooms, communal kitchens, living areas, hallways,
stairways and entrances using 6775 litres of Johnstone’s paint.
The team of 10-16 decorators worked intense 12 hour shifts to complete each block of accommodation in a 5
day turnaround to accommodate the tight schedule of the programme. It was pivotal works were completed on
time to allow for the students to move in to the accommodation.
The complexity of the project programme meant that Bagnalls had to work alongside other trades such as
electricians, plumbers and carpet fitters. At the beginning of the project the programme was faced with a few
unforeseen issues, as is typical with a project of this size, but by working closely with Create Construction
Bagnalls was able to integrate with the other trades on site to resolve these issues.
Mutual flexibility and a good working relationship with Create Construction and the other trades on site was
imperative to ensuring the project was run to schedule and budget.
