Sadie Kane
Sadie is a spunky 12 year old girl. She has
blue eyes, caramel colored hair with red
streaks, and a developed British accent from
living in London too long. She usually wears
combat boots, jeans, and a T-shirt. She went
to a school and had two friends, Liz and
Emma. Sadie has and older brother, Carter,
who she rarely saw. Her mother died when
she was six. Her grandparents won the right
to take care of Sadie. The father, Julius Kane,
gave Sadie a cat ,muffin, as a going away
present. She hosts the goddess Isis till the end
of the book.
Carter Kane
Carter is a African American, 14 year old
boy who travels the world with his dad. His
dad, Julius Kane, took Carter around the
world for his work. The dad was an Egyptian
archeologist. Carter knows a lot about
Egypt. He helps Sadie and himself get out of
sticky situations with his knowledge of
Egypt. Carter hosts the annoying god,
Horus. He separates with Carter at the end
of the book.
Note: these two are the most powerful children to be born in centuries.
5. Characters(Kane's
)Julius Kane
Julius is a magician who traveled around the
world. He wanted to set free of all the
gods(accept Apophis and Set). He was banned
by the house of life for attempting to unleash
gods.
After Ruby died, Julius dedicated his time trying
to bring her back. Julius’s is from a very magical
bloodline(the Kane's). Julius ends up being the
host of the underworld god, Osiris.
Amos Kane
Amos is Julius’s brother and Sadie and Carter’s
uncle. He is also a magician and the owner of the
21 Nome of the house of life. Unfortunately, he
hosts Set and gets very ill.
Ruby Kane
Ruby is the Kane
children’s mother
who died closing
an obelisk. Julius
risked his life
trying to bring
her back from
the dead. Her
families bloodline
is also very
powerful.
Mr. and Mrs. Faust
The Fausts are the grandparents of Sadie
and Carter. After Ruby’s death, the Fausts
won the legal battle of owning Sadie. Mrs.
Faust is your typical London grandmother.
She makes tea, burn cookies, and (this is
not what a typical grandmother would do)
she does not let Carter or Julius in the
house. Mr. Faust has a stern look, but he is
sweet on the inside. He is usually on the
couch watching Rugby. The Faust's made a
shrine for ruby (their daughter), which is a
little creepy.
6. Characters(magician)
Zia Rashid
Zia is a young magician. Her village was
destroyed by the god Set. She was the only
survivor, thanks to her parents. Iskandar
took her in and cared for her. He was her
only family. She plans to help Carter and
Sadie stop Set, but Desjardin stops her.
Iskandar
Iskandar is the head of the house of life. He
is very old, as old as the walls of ages. He is
a very gentle man. He was the one who
established the rule(along with Thoth): do
not release gods.
Desjardin
Desjardin is a French magician and the new
head of the house of life. He plans to stop
Sadie and Carter from unleashing the gods
like their father. He proclaims that the
house will be able to stop Set.
Mel
Mel is a magician that was paired up
with Zia. They are hunting Carter and
Sadie. The pair is trying stop the Kane's
from unleashing more gods and
battling Set.
7. Characters(magical creatures)
Philip of Macedonia
Philip is a albino crocodile shabti(a magical
creature made of clay). He swims in the
swimming pool of the 21st Nome. He is very
sensitive. He really likes bacon.
Serpopards
Serpopards are serpent leopards.
They are a sign of chaos. They
attempt to kidnap the Kane children.
Khufu
Khufu is a yellow baboon. He wears a
Lakers basketball jersey. He only eats
foods that end with O’s.
Dough Boy
Dough boy is Julius’s shabti(a magical creature made of
clay). He only is activated when given a command by
their master or masters family. His legs were cut off at
the knees. If he somehow activates, he will want to kill
his master in order to gain freedom.the Set animal(Leroy)
This animal is like Sets minion. He follows Sets orders. If it
had a name, you wouldn’t want to speak it. It was ad least
bigger than a horse. It had shiny reddish gray fur, long legs,
a forked reptilian tail(the forks acted like tentacles), cone
shaped oversized ears, and a snout like an ant eaters.

Zia, Iskandar, Desjardin, and other
magicians.
Desjardin’s house
Desjardin's house is in Paris on a road
called “rue des pyramids”. They stole
the book of set from his library. It
contains the key to stopping Set.
The university
The university is were the Kane's
find Thoth. They need Thoth for
help. They can’t read the book of
set, but Thoth can. He sends them
on a quest to prove they are
worthy(or something along those
lines).
Graceland
Graceland is
basically Elvis’s
house. This is
were Thoth
challenged the

This is were Carter
masters the duat
locker and battles
the set
animal(Leroy).

This is were Sadie and Carter take

convince Desjardin to join

This is were Sadie contacts Nephthys.
While she is communicating, carter,
Bast, and Philip of Macedonia are
battling Sobek(the god of crocodiles).
Sadie gets knocked out, but Amos
comes to the rescue. Bast “dies”
stopping Sobek.
The snow covered fields of the
national mall in Washington D.C.
This is were the end of the battle
happens. The Kane's win and are
able to control set with his secret
name(evil day).
*Obelisks*
An obelisk is a setting, but there are
many. They are portals that can be only
opened by magic. Once you open one,
you can not open it again for another 24
hours. Some important obelisks are:
The Washington monument, sets red
pyramid, and both of cleopatras needles.
15. Themes
Sacrifice
Many of the characters in The Red Pyramid face sacrifice.
Sometimes, if you believe enough in your cause, you have
to be willing to give up everything, including your life. And
because we are talking about ancient Egyptian beliefs,
there are more serious sacrifices. One wrong move, and
you might find yourself lost in the duat. Sacrifice is one of
the many challenges Sadie and Carter faced.
Family
Even for mortal siblings like Carter and Sadie in The Red
Pyramid, the family is not in a good state: their mom is
dead, their dad merged with a god and was put in a
tomb that sank into the floor, and Amos hosted Set, the
god of evil. Still, family is family and Sadie and Carter are
trying to fix it.
Home
Carter and Sadie have moved around and lived/ slept in
different places throughout the course of the book. It
doesn’t matter where you are, more of who you are
with. The Kane children have developed a healthy
relationship and living style with each other. Where ever
they are, as long as they are together, it will always feel
like home.
Chaos and order
In the book, the two major forces are chaos
and order. Its kind of like good and evil. One of
the forces is off balance and Carter and Sadie
are trying to make it right again.
17. The Climax
Set is almost finished his pyramid. The pyramid is were his power is coming
from. On the third demon day, he will be very powerful(since that’s his
birthday). His plan is to wipe out north America with a humongous sand storm.
Sadie and Carter have to stop set from building his pyramid. If he does, he
will be unstoppable. Apophis is also secretly trying to break out of his prison. If
he does, the world will be thrown off balance.
19. The plot
This book is about two siblings that go on a magical
journey to stop the god of evil (set) from destroying
north America. They met gods, unleash gods, host
gods, make deals with gods, and battle gods. They
learn to use their power and use it to keep a
balance on earth.
21. Protagonist
Sadie Kane/Isis
Sadie(along with Isis) is on a
journey to stop set. There
are many bumps and blocks
in the road, but she over
comes them. Because Sadie
is hosting Isis, they can hear
each others ideas. Sadie can
also use the power of
Isis(magic).
Carter Kane/Horus
Horus and Carter learn to
understand each other and
bind with each other. At
first, Horus and carter
didn’t get along. At the end
of the book they learn to
understand each other and
end up succeeding.
23. antagonist
Set, the god of evil
Set is trying to make a big
sandstorm that will engulf
north America. He uses a red
pyramid to stay on the
human side of the duat. After
he takes over north America,
he will take over the world.
He will be too powerful to
stop by the morning of the
third demon day(his
birthday).
Apophis, the god of
chaos
Apophis is trapped in a
prison, but the
confinement is breaking.
He has enough power to
posses a demon. He
gives set ideas, ideas
that will secretly allow
Apophis to escape.
25. Conflict
The pyramid is almost built by the time Sadie and
Carter get to their. Only the top is left to be put on.
Set comes out of Amos and attacks everyone. Zia and
Amos are close to dead. Sadie is trying to protect
them, Horus and Carter are having a fight, and Set is
trying to blast Carter to pieces. Sadie teleports
herself, Set, and Carter to the snow covered field of
the national mall in Washington D.C. When Sadie is in
the middle of an important spell, Apophis’s snake
appears. She doesn’t know if she should finish the
spell to stop Set, or direct it at Apophis’s snake.
