landed the
fi
rst human on the moon in 1969. We have helped entrepreneurs
achieve their most audacious goals by shoo
ti
ng for the moon. The journey of
Digital Moonshot as a company began with a stay-at-home mom si
tti
ng on a
couch struggling with her biggest fear of being ordinary. That stay-at-home
mom was me. With no outlet for my crea
ti
ve expression, I was stuck on the
ground. The following is the story of how I launched Digital Moonshot.

thunderous cloud. An idea came to me with such force it seemed to shake the
fl
oor beneath my feet—I could be crea
ti
ve by publishing a magazine from
home. Before motherhood, I worked for a magazine for
fi
shing enthusiasts
called Western Angler. I wasn't excited about
fi
shing, but I was excited about
publishing. With new desktop publishing so
ft
ware available to home users, I
realized I could publish from home.
The idea ignited a passion in me that felt like the rockets of a spaceship

. It was picking up speed, breaking
through barriers of boredom, fear, apathy, and inac
ti
vity. It came to me as a
calling. I could accept the call or run away and let it
fi
nd another person to
inspire. I sprang from the couch, ran to the cupboard, looking for a paper and
pencil to capture the idea before it passed. When I reached the cupboard and
wrote it down, I felt my life had changed forever. I was no longer willing to be
ordinary and lifeless. Not only would l be crea
ti

woman who aimed for the moon in every part of my life. Then the real work
began.

4. I bought the Adobe Crea

learn InDesign and Photoshop.
In 2010, I designed my
fi

front cover, table of contents, feature ar

with pull quotes, full-color photos, and cap

images. Learning InDesign and Photoshop opened
the door for a new skill set. I realized then that this
was more than just a hobby.
Flight: Graphic Design Volunteer
In 2013, I created
fl
yers, posters, and ads for various
non-pro
fi
t groups. As a volunteer, I was able to hone
my skills as a graphic designer. I learned how to take
complex data and present it in a clear, diges

ble way
that is pleasing to the eye.
I tapped into my crea
ti
ve side by coming up with
new ideas and innova
ti
ve designs that
communicated a message to my audience.
In Orbit: Marke

In 2014, I volunteered to help RE/MAX Winners
develop a Facebook marke
ti

allow 25 real estate agents to generate tra

and revenue for their business. At this point, I
stopped volunteering, and I landed my
fi

marke

an adver

sement for a new product line called Poly
Wood Shu

ers, and I made marke
ti
ng material that
supported 150 stores across the United States. I
moved into copywri
ti
ng. I wrote blog ar
ti
cles.
I started work on a manuscript for a book. I worked
with a mentor to help me learn how to write for
book publishing companies.
Space Travel: Mul

In 2015, I started my own video edi
ti
ng business to
help subject ma
tt
er experts create and launch their
own online training systems. I edited over 500+ long-
form videos for clients like Nathan Dawson, Grant
Cardone, and Erica Peitler. I made marke

material for web, print, and video that supported a
sales team of over 6,500 a
ffi
liates. I
fi
lmed private
training events and turned that footage into sizzle
reels and video marke

wrote, produced, and co-hosted a podcast for Life-
Changing Services, a family counseling agency.

Digital Moonshot uses tried and true storytelling

I used several storytelling elements in my career
journey story. My story had a clear beginning,
middle, and end. I used many parts from the Hero's
Journey—ordinary world, call to adventure, refusal,
mee
ti
ng the mentor, crossing the threshold, tests,
approach, death, reward, the road back,
resurrec

on, and elixir. Each stage of my career
journey u
ti
lized a basic form of the Hero's Journey.
For example, in the second stage, li
ft

, I was taken
out of the ordinary world where I faced the test and
trials of learning a new skill. The hard work was
ti
resome and symbolized death. Mastering the new
talent was the reward. I returned with an Elixir that
changed my life and blessed others.
