EXPERIENCE
Research on preparation of PBCO(Pr1Ba1Co2O5) and test of its stability, Boston University Fall 2014
§ Studied background of fuel cells and perovskite type oxides materials
§ Mixed precursors by ball milling and sintered the samples under high temperature to synthesis PBCO powder, tested the
characteristic and stability of PBCO in molten salt by using XRD
§ Made presentation to professor and students to introduce the process and results
Research Assistant·Chemical Lab at China University of Geosciences, Beijing, China
Research on organically modified montmorillonite (OMM) and characterization Spring 2013
§ Obtained Montmorillonite from the Clay Mineral Repositories
§ Mixed Montmorillonit with organic solution (C8H15ClN2 with water) by stirring in constant temperature water bath. Put
samples in centrifugal machine and get OMM from the drying oven.
§ Tested the surplus concentration of C8H15ClN2 in the solution by Ultraviolet Spectrometry and obtain the best conditions
(Water bath temperature, C8H15ClN2 concentration, stirring time) of making OMM
Research on super-hydrophobic materials making Spring-Fall 2012
§ Summarized literature about super-hydrophobic materials by utilizing international websites and school library
§ Polished and cleaned titanium sheet in ultrasonic cleaner, corroded sheet surface in electrolytic cell (HF solution, platinum as
cathode) under different time, temperature and concentration of HF solution
§ Soaked samples in stearic acid solution (ethanol) and put into constant temperature oven under 140°C
§ Measured the contact angle of water droplet on the super-hydrophobic titanium sheet made under different conditions
§ Participated in weekly group discussions and wrote reports about the process and results
PROJECTS
Preparation of Composite Materials with Mg-Al Hydrotalcite and Montmorillonite Spring-Summer 2013
and Investigation of Cu2+
Removal Absorption
§ Mixed solutions (Mg(NO3)2, Al(NO3)3 and NaOH, Na2CO3) in constant pH, then put precipitants and solutions into reactor
under 120°C, 24h. Cleaned precipitants and dried, milled them to get Mg-Al hydrotalcite powder
§ Ball milled hydrotalcite, montmorillonite, magnetite and soluble starch powder, tableted powders and calcite them in furnace
under 300°C, 6h
§ Put tablets in CuSO4 solutions with varies concentration, temperature and stirring time, observed the tablets status in the
solutions and tested the surplus concentration of Cu2+ by atomic absorption spectrometer
§ Communicated with mentors to revise experimental scheme and made presentation to professors and students
Metalworking practice, Mechanical legs making, Beijing, China Fall 2012
§ Measured length on the metal sheets referred to the engineering drawing
§ Cut and polished materials by using saws and milling machine, attached parts by electric welding
§ Wrote reports, summarized the process of working and evaluated the complete product process
