INTRODUCTION
Water is essential for of life. It 's difficult for most of us to imagine that clean water is not something that can be taken for granted, we just open the
tap and here it is safe, clean and fresh water. But this won 't be the case forever, in some countries, finding a reliable source of safe water is often
time–consuming, in other countries they spend too much money to drink water form plastic bottles and yet we still taking it for granted and waste it
even more.
With the coming of the Industrial Revolution, mankind was able to advance further and with this advancement came one more effect, industrial
pollution. Previously, industries were small plants that produced smoke and gases as the main pollutant. However, since the number of plants were
limited and worked only a specific number of hours a day, the levels of pollution did not increase significantly. But when these plants became full scale
industries and started to manufacture units, the problem of industrial pollution started to take on more importance.
As technology improves, scientists are capable of recognizing more pollutants, and at lower concentrations, in Earth's water bodies. Containing small
amounts of pollutants ranging from medical pills and creams to pesticides and petroleum, our earth's water bodies are often a chemical cocktail.

Water is an essential part of the human life. According to Bob Allen, "About 70 percent of the human body is made up of water" (2007). This is a
massive part of human livelihood and is manifested by the amount of water consumed daily. Water has unlimited uses and is used for hygiene and
dietary consumption. Citizens often use it, but never thoroughly examine what they are consuming. Many studies have been conducted to analyze
contaminants that fill water and the dangers of being unaware. The problem of water contamination is an issue that happens globally. It happens in
places like Haiti, Ethiopia, Flint, Michigan, and even Alabama. These are places that are affected so severely that many people have died from the
contamination. According to the United Nations Development Programme, "Half of the world's hospital beds are filled with people suffering from a
water–related disease" (The Water Project). In Opelika, Alabama according to the Marler Clark network, "At least 13 people in Lee County, Alabama
have been [was] made ill in an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak traced to Sportsplex and aquatic Center in Opelika Alabama" (E. coli in Swimming Pools).
This was contamination found in a swimming pool that directly affected the people. Additionally, Samford University is susceptible to water

that I felt pushed me the most out of my comfort zone was the "Water is Life" discussion that they hosted on campus on February 21st. For this
discussion they brought two speakers to campus, Angela Mooney D`Arcy and Ziad Abbas, to speak about the intersectionality between what the Native

The goals and expectations I had for the adult swim lessons were to help adults reach a basic understanding and skill level of water safety. From
the start, I worked to ensure a clear portrayal of by goals since, as Steven Covey and his fellow authors said in "The Power of Goals," "goal setting
is obviously a powerful process" (306). Planning and implementing my project took more time than I initially believed on account of needing to
secure pool space and at a time which would work with both my swim coach's and my schedules. To start off, I put together a working model for how
