about contaminated water and water shortages. The EPA plays a big role in how water is used and
how it is being treated. EPA stands forUnited States Environmental Protection Agency. Its main goal
and focus is to have clean and safe water for everyone to have. It is ran by administrator Scott Pruitt
who on February 17th, 2017 was confermined the 14th EPA administrator. He believes in protecting
and having a strong and healthy environment.
The Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1948 was one of the first major U.S. laws that addressed
water pollution and trying to spread awareness it ended up leading to 1972 amendments or more
commonly known as the Clean Water Act. In the act it addressed many different things about water
pollution and what was is now illegal to do some of it included that it was unlawful for any person
to dump any type of pollutant into any major bodys of water and gave the EPA the authority to
implement pollution control programs such as setting wastewater standards for

different as compared to the atmosphere that existed before the Industrial Revolution, 1760 – 1830.
To define air pollution, we should first consider all those sources that release harmful chemicals into
the atmosphere and alter its chemical composition. First of all, all anthropogenic (man–made)
