In the U.S., Amazon currently has
more than 70 fulfillment centers and
more than 90,000 full-time Amazon
employees. One of Amazon's
largest fulfillment center is
located in Phoenix, Arizona can
hold 28 football fields. Employees
requirements are to be able to lift
up to 49 pounds and stand or walk
for 10 to 12 hours per day.
Depending on their role, workers
may walk between 7 and 15 miles
inside the warehouses every day.
Job listings warn that
temperatures inside fulfillment
centers can sometimes rise above
90 to 114 degrees.
In December 2014, Amazon
introduced their eighth generation
fulfillment technology and robotics.
