British came to Malaya in about 1850, found out most of the
shops in Petaling Street are running gambling, entertainment
business
British bring a big batch of Sikhs from Punjabi, India for security
needs
As a return, British constructed temples for the Sikh police
community to satisfy their hunger towards religious and spiritual
From 1898-1910, theGurdwara was looked after by the serving
Sikh personnel of the F.M.S. Police Force
In 1910, the late Baba Sham Singh was appointed as the first
Granthi for 56 years
He taught religious Sikh knowledge to the Sikh children at the
Gurdwara

Played a vital role to ensure value of the place
Land of the Gurdwara belongs to the Government ( In the 1980's ,
they put an application to get grant)
Government ask Gurdwara to move since the KL 2020 plan was out
Criteria: Move within a radius of 3 KM (There’s a land in Brickfields)
However, Berjaya Group gazetted the land with the monorail project
Offered a few new places
Did not lose hope and is still fighting for the grant of the land which
the gurdwara stands on today
