For many years, school was thought to have a great potential
in providing youth with opportunities for physical activity.The
competitiveness in academic achievement has caused
decrease of exercise in schools. The U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services recommends that children should
engage in 60 minutes of exercise daily. However, the current
generation is not meeting these guidelines. A study shows that
inactivity is most common among females; and, that males
are getting involved more often in sports teams after school.

to develop an after school program that
encourages interests in physical activity
among teenage girls. The program will help
teens to exercise more often and teach them
about the importance a healthy lifestyle.

girls to get their bodies moving. Providing
a space for them to interact socially while
developing healthy habits. Also, creating
a community where they can talk freely
in a stress-free environment.
