goals when in fact we are only wasting
our time, our boss’s time, distract and
irritate executives and prevents them
from taking you seriously
Patterns to Avoid..and what to do instead
Avoid
Suggesting more ideas and concepts than can be
achieved or considered
Engaging in time-wasting conversations.
Offering information that is late, incomplete, or
inaccurate
Offering information that is already known
Giving partial input
Being less than candid
Failing to end meetings on time
Practice Instead
Focus on what needs to get done instead of ways
to get it done.
Keep meetings and conversation straight to the
point and focused on the task at hand
Remain transparent and punctual if trust is to be
kept.
Move on to the next task, repeating information
can waste time and show lack of knowledge.
Talk in terms of timeliness or priorities to avoid
wasting time.

By making sure you give useful feedback, you’re
ensuring that you are not only keeping the channels
of communication open, but that those channels
remain focused on company’s goals.

You are expected to be the eyes and ears within the
company as well as:
Remain current and involved
Show discipline
Take initiatives and show willingness to work with
others
Remain one step ahead by anticipating all possible
outcomes
Analysis and Assessments
When analyzing perceptions of others remember to consider:
** What they are saying
** What they are feeling
Make appropriate comments about fellow employees when necessary.
Make suggestions about what is working and what can use improvement

Ways to Achieve Maximum Impact Gain and Keep the Confidence of Senior People Focus first on establishing trust and common interest Mutual recognition of trust and common direction provides the platform for fixing shortcomings Understanding the boss’s perspective shows small concerns are far less relevant to achieving the boss’s goal

Ways to Achieve Maximum Impact Speak Management’s Language Each staff function has worked to develop and use a unique vocabulary and concepts that are aligned to management’s goals Learning management’s language will allow you to explain knowledge and information to operators and execs in ways that is better aligned with management’s goals It will also allow you to limit ideas and information that is not needed, and focus on the ones that are important.
  • 5. Ways to achieve maximum impact Work Against Patterns that Bother Bosses Often times we fall into patterns that we believe is aligned to our boss’s goals when in fact we are only wasting our time, our boss’s time, distract and irritate executives and prevents them from taking you seriously
  • 6. Patterns to Avoid..and what to do instead Avoid Suggesting more ideas and concepts than can be achieved or considered Engaging in time-wasting conversations. Offering information that is late, incomplete, or inaccurate Offering information that is already known Giving partial input Being less than candid Failing to end meetings on time Practice Instead Focus on what needs to get done instead of ways to get it done. Keep meetings and conversation straight to the point and focused on the task at hand Remain transparent and punctual if trust is to be kept. Move on to the next task, repeating information can waste time and show lack of knowledge. Talk in terms of timeliness or priorities to avoid wasting time.

Feedback and expectations Feedback By making sure you give useful feedback, you’re ensuring that you are not only keeping the channels of communication open, but that those channels remain focused on company’s goals. Expectations You are expected to be the eyes and ears within the company as well as: Remain current and involved Show discipline Take initiatives and show willingness to work with others Remain one step ahead by anticipating all possible outcomes
  • 8. Analysis and Assessments When analyzing perceptions of others remember to consider: ** What they are saying ** What they are feeling Make appropriate comments about fellow employees when necessary. Make suggestions about what is working and what can use improvement
