This article summarizes a research study that examined racial and ethnic disparities in children and adolescents meeting the daily recommendations of the 5-2-1-0 program in the United States. The study used data from the NHANES survey and found that Hispanic children had the highest rates of overweight and obesity at 48.5%, while only 0.03% of children and 0% of adolescents met all four of the 5-2-1-0 daily behavior targets. The results indicate disparities in weight status among ethnic and racial groups of youth as well as low rates of children and teens meeting the nutrition and physical activity guidelines.
