• DISC base theory created by Dr. William Marston, a psychologist
and a lawyer in his book called “Emotions of Normal People” in
1928.
• Based on the book others have further developed over time to
DISC assessments.
• That’s why there are many other DISC tests.
• DISC stand for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and
Conscientiousness.
• DISC is a powerful and profoundly simple tool to understand
people.
3. 4 General Orientations Style
• Active: outgoing people perfectly, comfortable in social situations,
confident to speak in front of an audience, Ability to start the
conversation anywhere.
• Passive: reserved people, doesn’t share their feelings, thoughts or
emotions, refusal to participate, modesty.
• Task-Oriented: focus on getting tasks done, produce desired
results is a priority, strict use of schedules and step-by-step plans,
and a punishment system.
• People-Oriented: focus on relationships well-being and motivation,
foster positive relationships is a priority, casual interactions and
frequent team meetings.
