Summer 2020
Zooming in on your child’s individual
needs is our primary FOCUS.
Universal Design Learning
Classes are built around the level of
need, but are as highly diverse as pos-
sible. All students will be given the
opportunity to be in the least restric-
tive environment as their needs
change. There is no one size fits all, so
classes are built based on that under-
standing. Our goal, every day, is to
prepare your child for the general ed-
ucation setting to the best of our abil-
ity.
Self-Contained Classrooms are provid-
ed for highly aggressive behaviors, and
high medical or physical needs, but
again these may change and are sub-
ject to be added to the least restrictive
environment available to meet your
child’s needs.
Classes
Teachers in the classroom will col-
laboratively and systematically
plan and carry out instruction.
Instruction is carried out using a
structure approach, where chil-
dren are taught through different
means that cater to the their indi-
vidual learning styles, strength
sand preferences. Instructional
Assistants will be available to sup-
port the need to meet the stu-
dents’ medical, physical, and/or
sensory needs, so that the teach-
ers can focus on instruction. Hav-
ing 2 certified teachers allows for
much flexibility on how to meet all
needs throughout the daily rou-
tine.
Every classroom, therapy room
and sensory room are
equipped with the latest tech-
nology and with adequate
availability of devices, as well
as various types of devices that
can be accessed readily by all
students.
Assistive technology devices
such as communication devic-
es, multi-sensory devices and
occupational devices will be
available, if not obtained when
needed.
Technology
Your child will not be paper/pencil testing and fill-
ing in bubbles, only if they prefer to. Assessments
are ongoing, formal and informal and designed to
cater to how your child functions best. Online ap-
plications, hands-on, oral, and observation assess-
ments are some examples of assessment mediums,
just to name a few. Your child will be given the
opportunity to show us what they know and what
they have learned through the most comfortable
and fulfilling means necessary. The use of visuals,
graphic organizers, mnemonic devices, text-to-
speech, extended time, optimal environment and
many more accommodations will be used and
made available for your child. Testing should not
equal anxiety nor should it set up a child for failure.
Your child will be assessed when it is needed, not
just because it is the end of the week or grading
period. Assessment is used as a means to pinpoint
those areas of need, and to show mastery of objec-
tives. It is a means to show progress and to create
new goals for learning.

fied Administrators (1 who
