To Whom It May Concern:
Carolyn LePage has worked for Mason County Transportation Authority as Finance Manager for
approximately four years.
As General Manager and Carolyn's direct supervisor I found her to be a very diligent worker who has
always treated others with dignity and respect. Carolyn has created a cohesive team in the accounting
department by ensuring the hiring and cross-training of competent staff. Her ability to explain
objectives and provide staff with direction is excellent. She was instrumental in the implementation of a
new more efficient and effective accounting software which allows for integrity of information and
timeliness of reports. Carolyn is very conscientious about her work and was always willing to put in
extra time and work hands on with her staff to meet deadlines. She ensured that accurate and timely
monthly financial reports were presented and explained to the Board in a professional manner.
Carolyn communicates well with co-workers. She has worked closely with the management team to
develop a more detailed and comprehensive budget. She has ensured open lines of communication
between the accounting staff and all departments by being a strong advocate of internal customer
service and ensuring that she, as well as the accounting staff, is always available and approachable.
Carolyn carries this same philosophy in professionally dealing with vendors, her peers at other agencies
and the general public.
It is a pleasure working with Carolyn. She is a very competent manager who strongly believes in the
team approach, her integrity and high motivation was shared with her staff. Carolyn will be missed at
Mason Transit. Her skills and personality have been a valuable asset and would be to any organization.
I strongly recommend her for any similar position she would be interested in undertaking.
Sincerely,

To Whom it May Concern,
This note is to recommend Carolyn LePage for any suitable position you may
have open in accounting. It was my privilege to work with Ms. LePage this past year
as Chair of North Mason Transit and before that as a board member. As a lay person
new to transit I found her explanations of budget matters clear and helpful As Chair
I met with Ms. LePage and the staff before each monthly meeting to go over each
agenda item and most particularly the budget A central aim of these pre-meetings
is to review the agenda and anticipate areas in which there may be board
discussion. Financial matters are clearly central to anticipating board questions and
discussion. I appreciated Ms. LePage's ability to identify particular budget items
that were distinctive for each of our monthly reporting periods and to place each
income or expenditure item in the perspective of our on-going financial situation.
Her comparisons and contrasts of our expenditures with previous months, or even
years, on any particular item was particularly helpful. Also helpful was her ability to
relate our financial picture to our sources of funding. Relying as we do for 40% of
our budget on grants the monies from these sources would come in at different
times. Ms. LePage was very helpful in enabling me, and other board members, to
understand the yearly cycles and rhythms of our funding and cash flow. Clearly one
of the challenges in projecting budget estimates to anticipate future expenses is the
fluctuation of prices; in our case fuel would be a prime example. Whenever I would
ask Ms Le Page about our assumptions concerning cost projections for fuel, or any
other item, I always received a clear explanation of the basis of her estimates along
with illustrating examples to place them in context I consistently found Ms. LePage
to be knowledgeable, helpful and easy to work with. I recommend her for her
professional skills and for her ability to make the logic of financial reports clear so
that board members can identify areas where policy deliberation is appropriate.
Respectfully
~~

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter of reference on behalf of Carolyn Lel'age. Carolyn worked
for Routh Crabtree Fennell from April 7,2000 to September 26,2003. Her title was
Accounting Manager and she supervised the Cash Receipts, Accounts Receivable,
Accounts Payable, and Billing departments of the company. She was also solely
responsible for the firm's payroll process.
Carolyn performed her duties in a very competent and conscientious manner. Her
work was accurate and completed in a timely basis. If the task required extra time in
order to complete, she was more than willing to put in the extra time. She was also
very good in adapting to the many changes the company faced as it grew rapidly
during her tenure here. She was able to modify and adopt procedures in order to
maintain an effective and efficient accounting system.
Her supervisory skills are excellent. She was able to hire and train a competent staff
that performed their duties well. The staff was motivated and turnover was low.
While the company's volume doubled in size, the accounting department grew by
less than 20%.
A letter of reference would be incomplete if it didn't cover the intangible qualities
Carolyn brought to the company. As noted above, Carolyn was not only
conscientious about her work, but about the success of the company as well. She
assisted other departments that needed help and continually looked for -~.-,-
improvements in the company's processes, She was very professional in dealing
with outside vendors and clients. Her communication skills are excellent.
It was a pleasure working with Carolyn and Iwould welcome the opportunity to do
so again.
