LAND LAWS APPLICATION
MAPPING
This work consisted of the
identification and mapping of the land
laws' application throughout Cazorla
Civil Parish (Jaén -Spain-).
The represented zones were those
classified followed the autonomous
region’s legislation, and those affected
by easements and land use restrictions
due to infrastructures, rivers and so on.
Basically, this tool provides useful
information when somebody intends to
perform any kind of intervention in the
area, from building a new house to
creating a new track to reach a farm, so
that it is easily recognised what the
restrictions are and the licences needed.
The digital file also offers the
possibility to switch on or off the different
areas in case you may want to have a
clearer view. Moreover, it is
accompanied by an additional document
which schematises the most relevant
information.

FIRE EMERGENCY
PLAN
I was responsible, along with a
topographer, for the development of the
official Cazorla Civil Parish Fire
Emergency Plan (Cazorla -Spain-).
The purpose of it is to provide all the
information and procedures to follow in
case of a fire emergency at any point of
the territory administrated by the council.
The major difficulties fell on getting
input from official and reliable sources,
and processing such data according to
new regulations and standardisation.
Additionally, accurate output was
essential as the readability of both maps
and tables needed to be as clear as
possible due to the importance of such
documents at emergency moments.
The plan was approved straight away
by the county government and its period
of validity is from 2015 to 2019.

LANDSLIP STABILISATION
AND
REGENERATION PROJECT
TRACKING
This project had a triple aim: applying
measures to slow down a rotational
landslide, environmental recovery of the
area, and providing new spaces to
home a possible future adventure park.
The site’s background is determined
by, on the one hand, environmental
decline, largely terrain desertification
after being a national quad bike circuit,
and on the other hand, a discovered big
rotational landslide which had started
causing some issues on the roads
nearby.
I took part in the on-site tracking of the
works which focussed on stopping the
erosion through building gabions walls,
driving the rain and ground water back to
their natural reinforced riverbed and
planting trees.Additionally, new terraces
were made which both helped to
stabilise the landslide and provided
great opportunities for future uses.

CAR PARK
VIABILITY STUDY
The objective of this project was to
define whether an underground car park
located in Granada was profitable or not
to build on.
The methodology followed consisted
of analysing the amount of car parking
space required in the area served. After
that, several proposed designs were
evaluated concluding the returning
inversion period under a paid parking
basis.
Among the main tasks carried out, the
following are worthy of mention:
- Socioeconomic, demographic,
urban, topographic and transport
analysis.
- Drafting different alternatives
considering best use of the available
space, structures needed, safety and
usefulness.
- Economic assessment.

The project consisted of three different
parts:
The first one, the design of the supply
system from the source to the
consuming areas, considering different
alternatives regarding the topography
and assessing the economic investment
and exploitation.
In the second one, a distribution
network within a new urbanised area
was drafted where it was essential to
ensure the minimum service pressure in
all points and the water diversions in
case of breakdowns.
The last part includes the design of
both the wastewater and rainwater
collectors, taking into account the
performance, safety and economic
costs.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN
The work focussed on the design and
calculation of a (5+2)-storey residential
building structure to be placed in Setubal
(Portugal).
In a first stage, the approach was as
follows:
- Drafting of different alternatives
meeting the functional planning of the
building.
- Preliminary sizing.
- Detailing and final design of all
elements.
- Checking and model analysis using
SAP2000 software.
In a second stage, the possibility of
switching part of bean-based slabs into a
prestressed slab was studied in order to
gain a longer span.
One of the most difficult
considerations was taking into account
the seismic influence over such an area.

WATER TANK
STRUCTURAL DESIGN
In this project the main goal was to
quantify the reinforcement steel bars, so
the stress diagrams were calculated
from a simplified method instead of the
application of plate analysis theories.
Once all the hypotheses were
evaluated, the steel frame was
calculated regarding the requirements
for all the walls and the base floor
according to the ultimate and
serviceability limit states, and to the
verifications due in the Eurocodes and
proper regulations.
The approach to the problem involves
a good understanding of concrete
principles and design algorithms.

STREET LIGHTING
DESIGN
In this project, the aim was to find a
new way to illuminate a narrow
pedestrian street located in Granada’s
downtown (Spain).
In order to work out the most
appropriate lighting system, various
factors were considered including the
geometry, the use, the importance of the
street within the area, pedestrian and
vehicles flow, position of houses’
windows and crime risk.
The study resulted in an S-2 class
according to the respective regulations,
which means an average illuminance of
10 lx, with a minimum of 3 lx and the
average uniformity rate being 0.3.
The solution proposed consisted of
high pressure sodium bulbs, which were
suitable for chromatic display and
performance, one-sided placements at 6
m high and 18 m of span, reaching a
great average uniformity rate of 0'71.

Urban and landscape integration
of marina-fishing ports. Contest

PROPOSAL
FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF
A MARINA-FISHING PORT
AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
This project was born with the purpose
of expounding any new ideas over an
extension project for the existing marina-
fishing port at ‘Caleta de Vélez’
(Málaga). It was part of a voluntary
contest I participated in.
In such a contest, we were allowed to
modify anything in the project, including
its closest surroundings, in order to
improve the urban and landscape
integration so that it could revitalise the
area while keeping its functionality.
In my proposal, I maintained the
original boundaries of the port itself and
changed the distribution of the required
zones a port of this type needs. The
objective of the latter was adapting it to
new strategies such as new open public
spaces and strip malls, new balance for
pedestrianised-car parks areas and
taking advantage of the breakwaters for
other uses.
I got an honorific mention.

URBAN LOGISTICS
RESEARCH
The research corresponds to my
Master’s grade final dissertation.
This is the result from one year’s work
exclusively dedicated to investigating
the logistics world, with special attention
to urban solutions to freight deliveries
and inverse flow problems.
The document compiles the most
recent studies and handbooks over
freight transport and urban logistics as a
complete book. Afterwards, as a case of
study, a deep analysis was performed
over the city of Granada (Spain),
concluding with the most relevant
measures which could be applied to
improve this issue.
I got a high mark of 8.5 of 10.
