What is Muhurat
Trading?
● It is a well know ritual for the trading
community amongst the traders who
buy and sell stocks.
● The word Muhurat in english means
“ auspicious” which is why investors
consider it as a good time for
investment during Diwali. According
to the Hindu Calendar,Trading during
this time brings in wealth and
prosperity.

and BSE declare the trade timings
for Diwali Muhurat Trade.
● The trading session is conducted for
an hour, in the evening, after the
recital of the Laxmi Poojan. ( A
prayer)

Significance of
Muhurat Trading
● There is no particular specific time
for it begin. The timings also differ
from year to year.
● The trading session dates begin
either in between, the last two weeks
of October or the first two weeks of
November.
● Since Muhurat Trading is an
auspicious time, it is considered that
planets align themselves in a way,
for when the trading session begins
during this period, it eventually turns
out to be fruitful and there is no
interference of the evil forces.
● The trades made during this
precious time, bring traders wealth
and prosperity. Most investors who
participate in this session, do so
because of traditional, religious and
sentimental reasons.Besides the

Traditions followed
in Muhurat Trading
● Muhurat Trading is a tradition, that is
mostly followed by the Marwadi and
the Gujarati communities. Since it is
the beginning of the financial year,
investors place a coin on the
accounts books, before the Laxmi
pooja.
● The coin represents wealth, which is
why its kept in between the
respective account books, in order to
attain more wealth in the coming
years.
● After this the Laxmi Pooja is recited,
the diyas are lit through the night to
welcome the light of wealth in a
investors life and in their business.
● Once the pooja is over, the investors
have an auspicious one hour, of
trading session, where most
investors buy token shares to mark
the beginning of the new year.
