Career Story - Mark Laitflang Stone
Mark Laitflang Stone is worthy of all praise. A motivational
speaker and champion of youth empowerment, Mark inspires not
only with his achievements but also with his struggles and
triumphs as a young, self-made entrepreneur. Mark‘s journey as an
entrepreneur began rather unusually. He left home at the age of 16
to pursue his dreams and when he turned 19, he had to drop out
of the school to earn a living. He started delivering flowers, sold
pool and snooker tables, started and wound up a software
development company, sold computer parts and accessories,
taught coding and design, hosted events and played in a band that
never quite made it! But the dreamer in him kept him going and
today he is an award-winning entrepreneur, a trainer, a
motivational speaker and the founder and chief Executive Officer Of Avenues, a group synonymous
with personal transformation and youth development. Headquartered in Shillong, Meghalaya,
Avenues is recognized as the leading indigenous force for life skills training and career skills in the
Northeast. Mark's unique ability to bring people together has also led to the birth of platforms that
celebrate community, music and fellowship like the annual Shillong Midnight Festival, the Avenues
Youth Icon Awards and the Youth MENTORS platforms that celebrate the lives and stories of
unsung heroes and recognize the role of mentorship for youth.

2. Parent’s Testimony
I feel, for today's highly
competitive and fast
world, Career Call is a
most needed platform if
it's kind for students of
9th/10th/11th &12th grade
and their parents to help
decide their next step of
career selection. Their
counseling based on the
reports of Career
Assessment test gives us
the confidence in the
choice we make through
the process. It is better to
validate our child's career
choice through this
platform rather than going
by borrowed information
or other sources for our
children.

Importance of choosing the right career
Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the
world. In order to have better tomorrows and sustain happiness, we need
to enjoy the process of learning today. If students understand the basic
rule, then they are sure to move towards a fulfilling career. The main
purpose of students should be the pursuit of happiness and happiness
comes when they choose the right course and a right career for a bright
and a better future. Students start exploring and experimenting from
quite an early age. It is when they are in the 8th and 9th grades that their
interest and passion starts growing. Then, choosing a course becomes a
lot easier when they are in 10th and 12th grades.
It is also crucial that they are aware of the courses available and know the admission procedure and
deadlines. Parents play a major role as most of the students today, face parental pressure to perform
well in academics. If the parents are not aware of the courses available in the child's interest area,
then it is best to seek advice from career counselors for the right kind of career guidance. The
assistance and awareness can make a huge difference in shaping the child's future. Both parents and
students are enlightened about the psychological and intellectual transition in the child from high
school to college to university.
