With the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Career Angels started to record and compare unemployment levels vs. the number of job ads published on LinkedIn. The job market has been changing for the past 21 months and it’s easy to see that the year 2021 was much different (in most cases: worse) than 2020.
The second report of our series “Job Market in 2021” summarizes the whole year of changes in the supply of and demand for candidates globally: in Africa, the Americas, Europe and the TOP20 global economies. In this report you will learn about:
- the number of job ads on LinkedIn worldwide in 2021
- the changes in European unemployment levels
- the number of candidates per job ad (for managers & executives) in Europe

3. From the employer perspective: more demand for
candidates = salaries and/or benefit packages go
up. The “post and pray” approach might not work.
On the other hand, more candidates, more choice,
more negotiation flexibility.
From the candidate perspective: more demand =
"less effort" put into the job search (less time, more
space to negotiate salary).
Why do we do that? Who can find our data useful?
