How & When to Sew

How & When to Sew
with a Walking Foot
The walking foot is a
sewing machine foot
that costs more than
other feet and can
take some fiddling to
put on. There is a little
bar that more often
than not fits over the
needle fixing screw.
All in all, a walking foot makes sewing thick
layers simpler on the grounds that the presser
foot resting on your texture moves (or walks)
as well, alongside the feed dogs underneath.
In principle, this implies the best layer will
move at an indistinguishable speed from the
base and center layers.
Straight line sewing. The walking foot is an
unquestionable requirement to have for
straight line stitching since it keeps the layers
together and keeps the top layer from
stretching out beyond the center and base
layers. This keeps puckering and small creases
from happening when you alter the course of
your stitched lines.
Sewing on quilt binding. In the event that you
utilize a walking foot when sewing on quilt
binding, it will keep the outermost layer of
the binding from moving in front of the base
layer, which causes puckers and bad creases.
Sewing straps. Have you at any point had
interesting swells down your straps, possibly
on the grounds that you exchanged the
direction of sewing. All things considered, if
you utilize a walking foot, that won't occur.
Different undertakings where you are sewing
various layers: tote bags, wallets, or joining
thick sew-in interfacing. On the off chance
that a presser foot is moving the top layer too
forward as opposed to moving easily on top
of it, it’s best to change to a walking foot.
Sewing on knit fabrics. In the
event that you have a
walking foot and you utilize
it when sewing with knits,
you’ll find the process to be
much smoother. A walking
foot tends to allow the knit
fabric to slide easily under it
without pulling on the fabric
and causing wrinkles.
