2. Tom Odell
The main focus
of the digipack in
Tom Odell’s case
is to get the
image of who he
is to the
audience to
create market
awareness of
who he is to gain
a larger
audience.
The title of the digipack
which states Tom Odell
Long Way Down. The
Title is shown in different
colours suggesting the
different style of music
that he sings and
portrays.
The picture of Tom Odell standing
alone suggests that he is the star,
however the urban background and
the mise en scene of the
environment and the clothes he is
wearing says that he is like
everybody else.
By placing Tom Odell as
the eye-catching figure
in the digipack is
stating that Tom Odell
is not a big artist. The
bigger artists can have
their name or logo as
the main image,
however Tom Odell is
not big enough yet.
3. Eminem – Relapse
The scattering
of the pills and
the blood
splatter effect
really enhances
the album cover.
The name ‘Relapse’ is a
term for a medical
condition and the state
of someone's health.
The black background
makes the pills stand out,
furthermore the red
shade of them could
suggest a sense of
danger.
The name of the album is shown to
us in a what looks like a prescription
for pills, which is prescribes to
Marshall Mathers (Eminem).
The Pills are arranged to
represent Eminem's face, this
could be a reflection of how the
pills have formed and controlled
his life. Furthermore the dark
shade on the right hand side of hi
face could suggest that he has a
dark side.
4. Van Halen - 1984
The baby's wing shows that
it is a heavenly figure. So
this can suggest that the
music in the album could
represent heaven.
The baby seems to have
a misgives look like he is
hiding something, this
could suggest that the
music in the album is
different to the album
cover.
The cigarette in the
baby's hand can
show that the baby
is rebellious. This
can portray how the
rebellious figure of
the baby can effect
he music.
The band has chosen not to
place themselves on the
cover of the album. They can
do this because they would
have been famous and well
known enough to be
recognised
5. Timberland – Shock Value
The title of the album
cover shows large bold
red letters. The colour
red is a sign of danger,
this will emphasize the
danger in the album
cover and in the music.
The shadow protruding out
from the door. This creates a
sense of mystery and
‘darkness’ to the music in the
album.
The Artist ‘Timberland’ is
wearing an expensive
looking suit and is very
smartly dressed. The dark,
urban ally way juxtaposes
the formal suit that the
artist is wearing.
The framing and
positioning of the
artist to the door
and shadow
suggests that there
are many other
artists in the album.
