INTRODUCTION
1. Stress is a bandied around frequently
these days.
2. Every one seems to have it.
3. Nowadays, even young offrs and soldiers,
house wives and younger children have
claim to it, making
4. It a universal complaint which cuts across
al rks, genders, ages and sociio-economic
levels.
WHAT IS STRESS ?
1. “Non-specific response of a human to any
demand made upon the body”
2. The word “stress” is borrowed from
physics and engg where “stress is
pressure per unit area”.
3. Stress puts pressure on the human body &
hence the word “stress” was adopted in
biology.
4. Stress originates from french word
“estress” meaning narrowness.
5. Stress is the reaction of mind & change.
6. Stress is feeling bad due to trouble beyond
control.
PERCEPTION OF STRESS
1. Stress is too much work and too little
relaxation.
2. Stress is hostility from others.
3. Stress is too little income, to chasing too
many outgoings
CL OF STRESS
1. Stress can be classified in different ways.
2. In one method of cl it can be Acute &
Chronic stress.
EXAMPLES OF STRESS
1. In real life are telephone calls,
doorbell, boss calling you to the
office suddenly, the ringing of alarm
indicating intrusion of terrorist in unit
loc, terrorist attack or explosion of
IED in vicinity etc.
2. In the above situations, it looks as
through the heart pumps blood
accompanied by the sound lub dub,
lub dub.
EXAMPLES OF STRESS
1. Examples in real life are political
instability, environmental pollution,
children, travelling, difficult boss,
unmanageable spouse, separation
from family, prolonged stay in counter
insurgency environment etc.

• EXAMPLES ARE OVER EXHAUSTION.
LACK OF SLEEP, ACCIDENT, INJURIES,
PREGNANCY, OVERWEIGHT,ETC
EXAMPLES OF STRESS
1. Positive Stress: You go home and your
mother informs that a lottery ticket
purchased went for a bumper draw.
2. Negative Stress: Whereas you go home
and mother informs you that one of your
cousin in the hospital with a double
fracture . that is negative stress. Positive
stress is called “eustress” the word “eu” is
picked from “euphoria”, meaning a
sensation of well stress. Negative stress is
called distress.
