will be discussed. Human trafficking is an issue that affects countries all over the world. Governments have made an effort to curb trafficking,
however these efforts have been very narrowly focused. American ignorance has led to poor handling of the issues by policy makers. Finally the
essay will discuss a proposed solution and set some goals for society to work on in the future.
When examining the traditional definition of slavery, it focuses on one human being taking ownership of another. Traditionally slaves were transported
by lengthy sea voyages. However, with advancements in transportation human trafficking victims can be quickly and easily moved around the world
(Kara 67). According to Robert Uy, "Trafficking, prostitution, and slavery have existed since the beginning of civilization and, while at times have
been prohibited, have continued to exist" (215). Slaves can be exploited virtually forever with a form of slavery known as bonded labor, which has
existed for centuries. Individuals involved in this type of slavery are often loaned money with the agreement to work of the debt; unfortunately, the
pay is so low the debt is almost never repaid (Kara 67). Despite legislative efforts to pass effective anti–trafficking and anti–forced labor laws, the

One of the first questions that some may ask is, "why education?" Why is education an effective way to fight against human trafficking? Well, the
answer has to do with prevention. Frederick Douglass, one of the foremost African American abolitionist and social reformer, wrote, "Knowledge
makes a man unfit to be a slave" (Douglass 33). When he said these words, Douglass was, of course, not speaking specifically about human trafficking.

Even though sex–trafficking victims go through extensive therapy after being rescued it is still very hard to return to everyday life knowing that for

The Council crafted the following operational definition to guide policy development on trafficking in persons: Trafficking is all acts involved in the
recruitment, abduction, transfer, harboring, auction or acceptance of a person or persons; within national or across global limits. These types of
recruitments are done through force, fraud or trickery; to place persons in a circumstance of slavery or slavery–like conditions, forced labor or services,
such as prostitution or sexual services, domestic servitude, bonded sweatshop labor or other debt bondage (E.M. Gozdziak, 2005)
B. To identify an issue is one thing; but when it comes to actually getting down to the facts and statics that's when it really hits home and makes you
think. The United States is a main receiver of trafficked persons. It is estimated that 15,000 to 50,000 of globally trafficked victims arrive in the
United States each year (L. Jones, 2007). Between 2001 and 2005, the United States effectively convicted 138 human traffickers (L. Jones, 2007). An
astounding 80% of the victims are women and over 50% are children. Even manual labor trafficking, frequently considered a male dominated dilemma,
is now considered to be dominated by women worldwide (Human Trafficking Awareness Partnership, 2010). In the US, 32% of all labor trafficking

Humanity has known since the dawn of history, multiple forms of slavery and it varies from society to another. As long as people thought that slavery
ended, never to return, they go back and sneak into our communities in severe forms by human trafficking crimes.
When humanity eliminated the phenomenon of human slavery, it returned in different pictures and forms, combining them enslaving people, through
the recruitment, transportation, transfer of people by force and threat, and using and exploiting them in different ways.
Among the victims of human trafficking crimes, there are those who are subjected to sexual exploitation, labor exploitation, and removal of organs.
These crimes also include the recruitment of children, forced and early marriage, and forced marriage. Trafficking in persons is a national, global and
international phenomenon, at the same time, where they are moving across the border between the states by organized crime gangs.
Human trafficking ranks in third place, after drugs and arms trade, in terms of the amounts of money involved. It is a form of slavery, a violation of
human rights, and constitutes a crime against the individual and the state together, and the crime that affects human security and is the security of the
state alike. It also represents a threat to the sovereignty and security of nations, and a serious violation of the global economy.
