Mother Teresa Impact On Society
1. Mother Teresa Impact On Society
Known as Gonxha Bojaxhiu or "The Most Obedient Woman in the Church," Mother Teresa was truly a daughter of the church. From the earliest age,
Mother Teresa began a life of service because she was dedicated to assisting others who were in need. Mother Teresa cared for the poor by creating an
effective international organization of missionaries, became an advocate for the povertyâstricken, and was recently canonized. One of her greatest
accomplishments was the well deserved Nobel Peace Prize, yet she did not maintain her life's work to win an award. Mother Teresa has had a
significant impact on society through her background, actions, and legacy in earning the Nobel Peace Prize. Mother Teresa was born to become a

Her mother was upset at first but then later gave her her blessing, on the other hand, her brother, an Albanian army Second Lieutenant, completely
disagreed with her decision and was very disappointed. Despite her brothers opinion, Mother Teresa knew that she had made the right decision and
replied to her brother by saying "'[y]ou think you are important because you are an officer serving a king with two million subjects but I am
serving the King of the whole world'" (Greene 11). Mother Teresa left her hometown and soon arrived at the Loreto House in Paris and there she
was interviewed to see if she could be approved to become a Loreto Sister. She was approved and sent to the main house in Dublin. "On March 24,
1931, Gonxha Bojaxhiu took her first vowsâa lifetime promise to chastity, poverty, and obedience to God as a sister of Loreto" and that is when her
journey began. She went to Calcutta to teach at St. Mary's School and she would remain there for the next seventeen years. After seventeen years
of service Mother Teresa decided to make another big change in her life, she believed her next path of life was God's plan, "[s]he was to resign from
the Loreto Order and establish a new missionary order dedicated to serving 'the poorest of the poor...the very poorest'" (Slavicek 39). Mother Teresa
had now set off on her own to assist the povertyâstricken, she performed a number of gracious acts

Our current pope, Pope Francis, has said we are the church and we need to "go out and head for the periphery." The Church has been going out
and beyond to the periphery to help people. Giving donations and work to help rebuild houses and businesses after natural disasters in poor and
rich places alike are things we have done. Pope Francis gave us instructions for helping not usually helped people. Many saints and other people
have decided to assist poor people without the Church's discretion from around the world that are usually not assisted. Some went to great lengths,
but Mother Teresa went to India to serve all in any way. When Mother Teresa saw Calcutta as a nun, she knew that she could help the Indians in

society, the untouchables. To start to help the Indians she off begging for food and health care assistance was slow and difficult work, but nevertheless
she stuck to it. Then her works grew to much larger

A brief biography
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on 26 August 1910 and baptised on 27 August 1910 in the town of Skopje, Macedonia. However,
she always wrote her birthday as 27 August because to her, the day of her baptism was always more important than the day of her birth.
Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun who devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world. She spent many years teaching in
India, where she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation devoted to helping those in great need.

Her second calling came on 10 September 1946 and forever transformed her life. As she was riding the train from Calcutta to the Himalayan foothills

Mother Teresa devoted her life to helping the poor, sick, needy, and dying people in India. In 1948 she asked the Pope if she could quit teaching so
she could help the people in need and he finally said "yes" after a year of lobbying. In the year 1952 she was able to open the first available hospice
in Calcutta where she stayed with the people who were living there until they died. Next year she opened the first orphanage which took care of

Mother Teresa: The Life and Dignity of the Human Person Life and dignity of a human person is the basis for all Catholic Social Teaching. Mother
Teresa embodied this statement throughout her entire life as she served the poorest of the poor throughout the world. Mother Teresa built schools to
teach, hospitals to cure, orphanages to love, and hospice homes to comfort. All of these projects were based on the Catholic Church's proclamation "
human life is sacred and the dignity of the human person is the foundation of society." ( ) By establishing Missionaries of Charity in 1948, which served
society 's poor and marginalized, Mother Teresa influenced world leaders by living the social teachings of the Catholic Church. Mother Teresa grew
up in a very loving family that was committed to their Catholic faith. Her mother always told her children that they should never eat a bite of food
without sharing it with another. Mother Teresa recalls that her mother often invited the poor of the their town to come and dine with her family. Her
mother's commitment to the needy was deep rooted. She didn't waver from this commitment even after her husband died leaving her with three young
children including Teresa, who was only eight years old. This family commitment to serve among many experiences in her homeland of Macedonia is
what set the stage for Mother Teresa's life of charity. In

Mother Teresa continued her uses of pathos in her speech by recalling a past experience she had with a poor woman. She reflected on the poor people
as great people which allowed the audience to see them as something other than a stereotype. She remembered how the poor woman thanked her and
many others about the importance of abstaining and having selfâcontrol in regards to having children. As she died, the woman looked at Mother Teresa,
said
'Thank you", and died with a smile on her face. She told her audience this story to get them to see a side of people that they didn't necessarily know
about. They got to see how this woman was poor and yet she still died smiling and thankful for what life had given her. Mother Teresa wanted the

Mother Teresa closed her speech by repeating her call to action and doing so in a way that affects the audience's emotion. She told them to remain
faithful to God and to give until it hurts. She said, "Let us make that one point: That no child will be unwanted, and also that we meet each other
always with a smile, especially when it was difficult to smile", reflecting on the idea that peace begins within their own hearts. She concludes her
speech claiming, "If you become a burning light in the world of peace, then really the Nobel Peace Prize is a gift of the Norwegian People. God
bless you", which emphasizes how she appreciated her audience. Mother Teresa repeats to the audience that peace is within them and that they
should be the ones with such a wonderful award. She blesses her audience which allows them to feel the love and care from Mother Teresa herself
and from her speech. By doing so, this fosters the audience's ability to listen and change their ways in order to create a better world.

16. The Indian Media Used Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa is one of the most written about and publicized women of the 20th century. She is the second most advertised religious celebrity after
Pope John Paul II. Due to her fame, many people willingly step forward to offer their support and praise her work.
The Indian media used Mother Teresa as a figure for a movement towards bettering the lives of those in the lower castes. They believe that if the
Indian people were seeing a white, foreign woman caring for their family and neighbors that many would take up the cause to help as well. Mother
Teresa's presence was also helpful during the political unrest of India. She was the symbol of a better country during India's fight for independence
from Britain, the separation from Pakistan in 1947, the Civil War of 1971, and the creation of Bangladesh. Mother Teresa was proving that one could
give up one's entire life and need no material possessions and spread love and support to all. She lived a simple life, surrounded in strong faith, while
believing in the compassion of humans.
However, not everyone believed that Mother Teresa had proven herself as a 'living saint.' Many people questioned her health, her mental sanity, and her
work. Throughout her life, Mother Teresa suffered from ill health. While not much is known about her childhood and her health during this time, it is
known that the Bojaxhiu family traveled each year to comfort Mother Teresa's poor health. While in India, as a Loreto Sister, Mother Teresa became
