Employee Safety Essay
An organization has work place safety responsibilities to serve to its customers, society and most of all its employees. It should focus firstly however on
protecting the nonprofit's most valuable asset, its employees. One relationship between management and employee safety is preventing before the
cause, which is protecting workers in the event that an accident should occur. By preventing accidents it reduces money being paid out by the
organization to health insurance benefits, workers' compensation benefits and the cost of wages to employ a temporary worker to fill an injured
worker space, stress on an employee who have to help out for an absent employee. Responsibility of safety lies both in an employer and employees
hands. Managers have the obligation to ensure a safe work environment and work gears are available if needed for employees. To ensure safety is
accomplished in the organization, managers and executives must firstly recognize that hazards and potential risks are present. The leading causes of
work injury are overexertion, impact accidents, falls, bodily reaction, compression, motor vehicle accidents, exposure to radiation or caustics, rubbing
or abrasions, and exposure to extreme temperatures (Goetsch D. 2011).
It is then important that managers are educated about the theories of accident causation, so as to prevent accidents from occurring or even reoccurring.

Introduction I have read and analyze the current policies and procedures of Coffeeville on work health and safety. I compared them with WHS acts,

Prior to consulting with workers, PCBUs and workers must initially determine "work groups". A "work group" is a group of workers with similar
WHS concerns and work conditions. A work group may cover multiple locations but include similar job activities or a work group may cover a range
of job types in a single location. Workers can be represented in the negotiation and determination of a workgroup by their union Once work groups are
determined then each work group can determine the best method for WHS consultation. The options for WHS consultation include; i. Health and
Safety Representatives (HSRs) ii. Health and Safety Committees (HSCs) iii. Other agreed arrangements(meetings) 5. How to record and communicate
outcomes of consultation over WHS issues and how quickly to provide information about the outcomes of participation and consultation to work
teams All consultations over WHS issues and their outcomes are to be recorded using standard templates and document control processes like minute
taking if it's a regular meeting. These documents can be maintained on the Workplace Health and Safety section of company website as examples or
case studies. Work teams can be notified with workers newsletter, notice in staff room and staff can also be notified about changes by email to relevant
work teams and stakeholders. Policies should to be reviewed regularly in consultation with work teams and relevant stakeholders. All policies

A general debate of each of these ideas of employee health, safety and security are the affiliations of safety, health, and security are closely related.
Normally, safety communicates to defending the physical safety of individuals. The most important purpose of active safety programs in
establishments is to prevent work–related injuries and accidents. The extensive term is health, which discusses a common state of physical, mental, and
emotional well–being of persons in health managing practices. The purpose of security is defending workers, patients, or occupants, customers, guests,
and physical facilities. By means of the progression of work violence, security at work has become an even larger concern for healthcare employers and

For example, the businesses can look for the least hazardous equipment or material. They can separate workers from specific known hazards, by

For example, a place of work safety instructions are having too many keys, or not an adequate amount of can leave your place of work at jeopardy.
Safeguarding the not dangerous protection and defense of workers, records, tools and accommodations is a main concern of business proprietors and
supervisors. For example, Alarm and Surveillance Systems can invest in a good security system that will be cautious of the governing programs in the
event of a break–in. Make the password available only to those with a valid reason for withholding it normally check all windows and doors before
closing your office. Install video surveillance systems at entrances and exits as well as in hallways, staircases, garages and service counters where

In concluding, by means of the progression of work violence, security at work has become an even larger concern for healthcare employers and
workers in a similar way. Safety, health and security in the workplace is important to workers and to the general self–esteem of the employees of a

Early humans took necessary precautions to guard against natural hazards around them. Also, in 2000 B.C., Hammurabi, an ancient Babylonian ruler,

Workplace Safety BUS642: Business Research & Method Tools Instructor: Janice Johnson April 16, 2012 In order for a workplace to be a productive
and welcoming environment, safety must be a priority. The overall plan and execution of safety measures ensure that the staff or workers will be
well–prepared and have peace of mind on a daily basis. The best way to handle any bad situation is to properly evaluate the steps and think about
scenarios ahead of time. In order to improve safety in a work environment, the company must analyze the location, availability, and knowledge of the
workers in regard to safety equipment, evacuation plans, and emergency medical situations. (Johnson) Holding regular meetings and training sessions

Any program made for the purpose of improving safety and health in the workplace should be concerned with promoting and rewarding safe
practices at work, eliminating fatalities at work, and reducing injuries and illnesses at work. On a continuous basis, measuring performance and
keeping a record of your safety and health program is a good technique to ensure that targets are met daily. Likewise, it's equally necessary to have a
systematic evaluation on the compliance of procedures, regulations, and standards; an analysis on the causes of injuries and accidents; and finding out
any deficiencies and correcting them. Ensuring employee safety in the work place has immeasurable benefits to an organization. The first thing that
some companies can do is to complete an employee survey. This help in several respects: employees give feedback about the work environment and
point out areas where safety concerns existed, and it gives them a useful way to help make sure that a similar accident would not happen again. Once
the survey was finished, a memo could be circulated to remind employees that their reports of any safety concern at any time were most welcome and
appreciated. (Greenberg) With an employee survey their maybe risks that management may have overlooked that the employees have noticed.

Safety In The Workplace Essay
The global Marketplace is immense and requires fortitude and tolerance to be prolific. Human Resource Managers need to be aware of the risks that
may endanger employee safety and well–being, whether it is a home–country national strategy or a host–country national strategy. You must weigh the
risk and reward daily. You will need to create updated policies as well as training to alleviate workplace violence and safety hazards alike. (Dias, 2011)
There are many issues that can arise at a moment's notice and your job is to prepare for any issue that may ascend. Sure, there is no such thing as a

pulmonary fibrosis that will eventually take his life from him. The oak barrel company needs to invest in the safety of its employees by
purchasing better quality equipment for their safety. Once the investment is made you must make sure that the employees are trained in the proper
use of such equipment. In all reality, companies have a duty to ensure the safety of its employees. Most of the time issues occur due to negligence
caused by expenses. It doesn't pay to be frugal when it comes to safety. There are many risks in the workplace in these risks can be avoided. Health
issues can be addressed and, yet they will still happen. Let's say that a company stores hazardous materials that can cause injury or death to an
employee if there are no safety measures to alert the employees to dangerous leaks of hazardous liquids or gases. than the employee can become sick
from the leaks or perish from the leaks. In any situation it can be easily thwarted through training, updating equipment, and following safety procedures
and policies. It may cost a great deal to implement a

Case Study : Carol And Workplace Safety Essay
Case 3: Carol and Workplace Safety Who has moral responsibility for deciding what to do? In this case, we are introduced to Carol Matthews, a
production manager for World Auto Parts (WAP). Carol is faced with an ethical dilemma of whether or not to tell her boss, Joan Ross, about a
workplace safety issue regarding the safety cover of their new Mark 4 gear press and its increased injury rate on its operators. Carol and another
production manager, Phil Thomas, have taken notice of the heightened injury rate and have decided that in order for Joan to take action, they both
need to inform here individually. Carol and Phil have a mutual distrust for each other, however, both have a moral responsibility in this situation
because in order to resolve this workplace safety issue they will have to cooperate and trust one another. Both of them are concerned that the other
won't end up talking to Joan, making whoever does tell Joan about the safety issue look like a naysayer. This is made even riskier by the fact that the
two are competing for a promotion, and by making the other look bad they increase their own chances of securing it. If Carol and Phil simply look
out for their own self–interests than the safety issue won't be resolved. Since they both hold influence over the others actions, and ultimately the
outcome of the situation, they can both be held morally responsible. Whose interests must we consider? In this situation, there is several people's
interest that must

Reflection On Health And Safety
Reflective questions for Module 4: Workplace Health and Safety
1)Before you studied this module, what did you think would be involved in managing workplace health and safety?
Before this module, I thought that to manage workplace health and safety (WH&S) effectively, involved rigorous preventative measures. With this, I
acknowledged the idea of analysis of workplace processes, and an understanding of various job roles to be important to managing WH&S. Hence, I had
a superficial expectation that prevention and not treatment, was the primary mechanism for addressing WH&S issues; which may not always be the
case. Recognisably, I didn't expect organisational culture that incorporated WH&S, to be a valuable preventative and treatment tool for managing
WH&S.
2)During this module you learned about various forms of risks in workplace health and safety. What happened when you tried to conduct arisk
assessment and develop a hazard management plan for a hazard which could be encountered by a Happy Dogs dog walker? What did you find
challenging?
When completing this task, I found the obvious hazard of being bitten; however, I found it challenging to identify a hazard of being hit by a car. I think
this may due to subconsciously identifying direct hazards, more prominently than indirect. I found that the level of risk to be subjective. Referring to
the hazard of being bitten, I assumed it to be a moderate to high risk. However, if I had been bitten previously, I subconsciously may have increased this
risk to extreme. In managing this hazard, I thought it was difficult to prevent, without offending the customer (muffling). Therefore, a major challenge
for me was to not impact customer perception through a management–plan.
3)Interpret your experience. Why do you think you experienced the challenges that you did? If it was because you did not have something you
needed, explain what you needed and how you would have benefited/ what you would have been able to do differently if you did have it.
I believe that there is one main reason I experienced challenges; that I am not a dog owner. Hence. I needed the experience of being around dogs, and
understanding their nature. With this experience, I think I

I learned so many new concepts in this employment law class. So many of these concepts I can apply to my everyday work life. I learned there were
different types of employment relationships (common law, statutory, and independent) which I didn't know even exist. I learned the different types of
discrimination and about illegal employees. I also learned that illegal citizens have rights to work in the US with the proper permit. I didn't even know
about e–verify or that employers check if your legal to work in the US. I learned a lot about OSHA and workplace safety. The three concepts that I
feel are the most relevant to me are at will employment, workplace bullying /hostile work environment and confidentially. I learned a lot about these
three topics and can relate them to my workplace and any future jobs I will have. I never knew everyone was at–will employment, unless otherwise
stated. I thought if it was stated in your contract that you're at–will then you are. I only signed one contract to work at a place and it stated it was
at–will. It shocks me that America is the only country to have at –will employment. This allows employers to fire employees for any causes except an
illegal one. An employer can change wages, terminate benefits, or reduce paid time off. Employers can change the terms of the employment with no
notice and no consequences (Mejeur and Larson–Krieg, 2016). We have no job security at the jobs we have been working at for years. Employers can

Workplace Occupational Health And Safety
Introduction Since late 19th century, workplace occupational health and safety has drawn more and more attention in Canada with relative legislations
becoming stronger and more comprehensive. Effective OH&S programs could help business save considerable cost on worker's injury or illness.
OH&S becomes even more significant in some open–to–public workplaces, such as schools, which not only relating to staffs' health and safety, but
also thousands of students'. George Brown College who has four campus all located in downtown of Toronto, ON. Let us look at some statistics about
GBC. According to statistics from "Fast Fact 2014–2015" (2013) published by GBC, there are more than 25,000 full–time enrolled students; 3,200
part–time students and around 1,300 fulltime and nearly 1,900 part–time employees in GBC in the period of 2013–2014 fiscal year. The college makes
noticeable efforts to ensure both public and staff's health and safety and try to reduce the injury and illness. Jurisdiction & Legislation In Canada,
every province and terrorist territories has its own OH&S Act. Although there some exceptional business are covered under the federal jurisdiction, for
example airport , banks, canals and etc., Canadian center for Health and Safety claimed that 90% Canadians are following their provincial or territorial
jurisdiction. Thus, businesses like GBC in Ontario are covered Occupational Health and Safety Act, enforced by Ministry of Labour. Employers,

Safety in a workplace also describes policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety and health of employees within a workplace which
involves hazard identification and control according to government standards and ongoing safety training and education for employees. Safety
training is a federal law that oversees the requirement of an employer to provide employees with a workplace free from hazardous conditions.
Employees must be responsible to ensure they are taking all the precautions to protect themselves and their fellow workers. Safety training is a
major concern in today's workplace for both employers and employees in which action have been taken to overcome this problem. This research of

Workplace Safety In The Workplace
Workplace safety is a big deal. If you don't think so, take a look at the research done by the Occupational Safety and Health Organization
(OSHA).American employers pay out an average of $1 billion per week for workman's compensation fees. Mind you, this doesn't include medical and
legal fees that incur. Staying on top of the safety aspect in your workplace is not only essential because you don't want to see anyone get hurt. It's
essential because it's best for the financial health of your business. When it comes to workplace safety, employee engagement needs to be placed high
on the list of topics to approach. This is the case for a few reasons.
1.Perception
It's often stated that perception is everything. People filter information through the lens of their own perceptions. Whether their perception is healthy
or not, they're bound to look at it through that lens. So, as an employer that's desiring employee engagement, it's important to consider a person's
perception. While you're not responsible for every little detail of why people perceive information the way that they do, you do need to take it into
account. For example, if something happens with a machine breaking down and it's the fault of a particular employee, the initial feelings might be
mixed with anger and frustration. However, it's best to calm down, get collected and face the issue with a cool head. If you get behind the computer
and type an angry email with all caps, the perception is that you're angry,

Safety Officer Research Paper
Safety officers monitors workplaces activities to ensure that workers comply with company policies and government safety regulations. The functions
of this job vary by employer, but usually security officers often have the following duties:
The development and implementation of security policies help employers reduce costs related to accidents and avoid losses due to a decrease in
productivity. The safety officer determines what policies are needed and solicits input from managers and workers. Once a policy has been finalized,
the safety officer alerts workers about the change and monitors compliance. He or She may also ask each employee to sign a statement acknowledging
receipt of the information (Morgan, n.d.).

These include fire prevention plans, hazardous materials handling and machine guarding. Safety officers identify training needs, develop appropriate
training programs and deliver training to employees. They may also solicit feedback from workers and use that feedback to improve existing programs
or create new ones (Morgan, n.d.).
Employers must comply with regulations published by OSHA and state occupational safety agencies. This involves reviewing standards, implementing
plans to meet those standards and following all record–keeping requirements. Safety officers complete the injury logs required by OSHA and submit
OSHA form 300, which is a summary of all injuries that resulted in lost work time, restricted duty or job transfer. They also ensure that the poster
entitled "Job Safety and Health: It's the Law" is displayed in a conspicuous place in the workplace, as required by OSHA (Morgan, n.d.).
Considering that the training center OSHA compliance officer knows the building characteristic and policies, he or she can show us (our company

Importance Of Safety In The Workplace
The organizations and the employers are responsible for providing a safe workplace for their employees. There are a lot of people particularly
women when they apply for a job or want to see one, they prefer the safety of the workplace. This term is very wide as it is not restricted to having
guards outside the organizations. A lot of employers and organizations needs to be aware that there is a lot more to providingsafety at the workplace. It
means that employee feels secure working in an environment where he can express his thoughts and ideas without losing his job. An important
aspect in promoting safety at workplace includes adding a certain clause in the agreements as well so when a person signs that agreement at the
time of getting that job he/she knows that they will be working in a secure environment at the workplace. There are certain employers who do not
realize how important it is to promote a safe working environment for their employees and have structural constraints in their organization which
makes it more difficult for any employ to report an issue (Gray). There are certain jobs that require real hard work and they have to work under
critical circumstances. More than 1 million companies today are providing employees with all the safety gadgets they need in order to protect
themselves at work. But there are half a million companies who are not aware of the significance and because of the employer's lack of knowledge,
the employees suffer from injuries or

The Importance of Safety in a Dangerous Job The work of a fire fighter consists on the fundamental foundation to provide a high quality of problem
solving that will allow them protect and rescue those in need. Fire fighters are usually the first responders in emergency situations. We live in a
world where accidents occur every day and at all hours, anything from vehicle incidents, house incidents to natural disasters can happen at any
moment in time. Although fire fighters risk their lives in order to save lives, many people don't realize that this jobs are dangerous and precautions
and safety have to be followed just like in any other job. Niosh compiles accident and fatality reports that allow us to view, study and learn from fatal
incidents in order to better train as fire fighters. From the wide scope of reports in the site, a case in which a fire fighter dies while attempting to save
an individual caught on the destruction of bad weather conditions really caught my attention. Mostly because one thinks fire fighter and one makes an
automatic connection to fire incidents but as first responders any situation can be an emergency and therefore dangerous. Following or not following
the right security measures could potentially result in devastating and life changing events. Since this report is about an incident not involving fire it is
interesting to see and analyze the details of the incident and learn what safety procedures should have been done or paid more attention in

Workplace Safety : Safety And Safety
Organizational Safety Program Safety in the workplace has become a major focus on many organizations due to many accidents and deaths. When
employees enter their place of work they expect to work in a safe environment in which they can work with our anything to worry about. As it is
known that some workplaces are safer than others. Workplace safety is a priority in for most workplaces that is why employers care about
employee's safety. Workplace safety is a kind of management responsibility in places of employment that includes health and safety of workers. In
order to provide workers with safety and health, managers focus on safety that can include such elements as: management leadership and obligation;
worker involving accountability; ensuring the work is carried out safely and effectively; different safety plans, programs and policies, processes,
procedures, and practices; safety inspections for workplace hazards; safety goals, objectives and program audits; safety tracking and metrics;
identification of hazards and control; safety education, training and communications. Talking about workplace safety, it is necessary to mention health
and safety hazards. According to definition of Rajagopal J., "a 'hazard' is something that in itself may cause harm or injury." (Rajagopal,
2009).Workplace hazards include moving parts of machinery, flammable or toxic substances and lifting heavy things. Also hazards can be included in
slippery floors, electric energy, working at heights

Workplace Health and Safety Legislation Essay
The health and safety at work act (1974) puts a responsibility on all employers to provide a safe environment at work for their employees and is
probably the main law regarding health and safety in the work place. It gives employers the responsibility of providing a clean environment to work
in; safety checks on all machinery/equipment, competent trained and supervised staff and the welfare of employees at work. This law has had a
massive impact on sport especially in gyms and health centres as it has provided much safer places of work out, as all machinery/equipment now has
to be checked regularly for faults and all staff has to be fully qualified preventing injuries and saving lives....show more content...
This law has had an impact on all sports that generate large crowds to their grounds/stadiums such as rugby or cricket although its largest effect
would have been on football as it generates more fans than any other sport in this country, when you look at clubs like Arsenal and Man U who
have tens of thousands of people at their games you can see how important it is to provide fire safety when there are so many lives at stake.
Therefore this law has allowed people to go to their teams club and know that if a fire does break out that there has been checks and procedures put
in place to deal with the matter as quickly and effectively as possible. The working time regulations law (1998) regulates the maximum number of
hours worked for all employees. It also states how many breaks should be given and at what length they should be. This law gives employers the
responsibility to ensure that their employees work no more than 48–hours in a seven–day week. Checks will be made to ensure this is happening over a
17–week period. The impact this has had on sport is that it has prevented people from overworking and causing themselves or someone else harm for
instance if a person had worked a 7 day stretch of about 64 hours in a gym as an instructor they would be

Employee Safety Essay

  • 1. Employee Safety Essay An organization has work place safety responsibilities to serve to its customers, society and most of all its employees. It should focus firstly however on protecting the nonprofit's most valuable asset, its employees. One relationship between management and employee safety is preventing before the cause, which is protecting workers in the event that an accident should occur. By preventing accidents it reduces money being paid out by the organization to health insurance benefits, workers' compensation benefits and the cost of wages to employ a temporary worker to fill an injured worker space, stress on an employee who have to help out for an absent employee. Responsibility of safety lies both in an employer and employees hands. Managers have the obligation to ensure a safe work environment and work gears are available if needed for employees. To ensure safety is accomplished in the organization, managers and executives must firstly recognize that hazards and potential risks are present. The leading causes of work injury are overexertion, impact accidents, falls, bodily reaction, compression, motor vehicle accidents, exposure to radiation or caustics, rubbing or abrasions, and exposure to extreme temperatures (Goetsch D. 2011). It is then important that managers are educated about the theories of accident causation, so as to prevent accidents from occurring or even reoccurring. I compared them with WHS acts, regulations and codes of practice and developed WHS guidelines for following areas. These guidelines will help employer to control the workplace risks. These guidelines will not only improve safety outcomes but will also support employer in demonstrating that they are meeting obligations under Work Health and Safety laws. A work group may cover multiple locations but include similar job activities or a work group may cover a range of job types in a single location. Workers can be represented in the negotiation and determination of a workgroup by their union Once work groups are determined then each work group can determine the best method for WHS consultation. The options for WHS consultation include; i. Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) ii. Health and Safety Committees (HSCs) iii. Other agreed arrangements(meetings) 5. How to record and communicate outcomes of consultation over WHS issues and how quickly to provide information about the outcomes of participation and consultation to work teams All consultations over WHS issues and their outcomes are to be recorded using standard templates and document control processes like minute taking if it's a regular meeting. These documents can be maintained on the Workplace Health and Safety section of company website as examples or case studies. Work teams can be notified with workers newsletter, notice in staff room and staff can also be notified about changes by email to relevant work teams and stakeholders. • 7. Workplace Safety Essay Workplace Safety BUS642: Business Research & Method Tools Instructor: Janice Johnson April 16, 2012 In order for a workplace to be a productive and welcoming environment, safety must be a priority. The overall plan and execution of safety measures ensure that the staff or workers will be well–prepared and have peace of mind on a daily basis. The best way to handle any bad situation is to properly evaluate the steps and think about scenarios ahead of time. In order to improve safety in a work environment, the company must analyze the location, availability, and knowledge of the workers in regard to safety equipment, evacuation plans, and emergency medical situations. Any program made for the purpose of improving safety and health in the workplace should be concerned with promoting and rewarding safe practices at work, eliminating fatalities at work, and reducing injuries and illnesses at work. On a continuous basis, measuring performance and keeping a record of your safety and health program is a good technique to ensure that targets are met daily. Likewise, it's equally necessary to have a systematic evaluation on the compliance of procedures, regulations, and standards; an analysis on the causes of injuries and accidents; and finding out any deficiencies and correcting them. Ensuring employee safety in the work place has immeasurable benefits to an organization. The first thing that some companies can do is to complete an employee survey. This help in several respects: employees give feedback about the work environment and point out areas where safety concerns existed, and it gives them a useful way to help make sure that a similar accident would not happen again. Once the survey was finished, a memo could be circulated to remind employees that their reports of any safety concern at any time were most welcome and appreciated. Human Resource Managers need to be aware of the risks that may endanger employee safety and well–being, whether it is a home–country national strategy or a host–country national strategy. You must weigh the risk and reward daily. You will need to create updated policies as well as training to alleviate workplace violence and safety hazards alike. (Dias, 2011) There are many issues that can arise at a moment's notice and your job is to prepare for any issue that may ascend. • 9. Case Study : Carol And Workplace Safety Essay Case 3: Carol and Workplace Safety Who has moral responsibility for deciding what to do? In this case, we are introduced to Carol Matthews, a production manager for World Auto Parts (WAP). Carol is faced with an ethical dilemma of whether or not to tell her boss, Joan Ross, about a workplace safety issue regarding the safety cover of their new Mark 4 gear press and its increased injury rate on its operators. Carol and another production manager, Phil Thomas, have taken notice of the heightened injury rate and have decided that in order for Joan to take action, they both need to inform here individually. Carol and Phil have a mutual distrust for each other, however, both have a moral responsibility in this situation because in order to resolve this workplace safety issue they will have to cooperate and trust one another. Both of them are concerned that the other won't end up talking to Joan, making whoever does tell Joan about the safety issue look like a naysayer. This is made even riskier by the fact that the two are competing for a promotion, and by making the other look bad they increase their own chances of securing it. If Carol and Phil simply look out for their own self–interests than the safety issue won't be resolved. Since they both hold influence over the others actions, and ultimately the outcome of the situation, they can both be held morally responsible. Whose interests must we consider? • 10. Reflection On Health And Safety Reflective questions for Module 4: Workplace Health and Safety 1)Before you studied this module, what did you think would be involved in managing workplace health and safety? Before this module, I thought that to manage workplace health and safety (WH&S) effectively, involved rigorous preventative measures. With this, I acknowledged the idea of analysis of workplace processes, and an understanding of various job roles to be important to managing WH&S. Hence, I had a superficial expectation that prevention and not treatment, was the primary mechanism for addressing WH&S issues; which may not always be the case. Recognisably, I didn't expect organisational culture that incorporated WH&S, to be a valuable preventative and treatment tool for managing WH&S. 2)During this module you learned about various forms of risks in workplace health and safety. What happened when you tried to conduct arisk assessment and develop a hazard management plan for a hazard which could be encountered by a Happy Dogs dog walker? What did you find challenging? When completing this task, I found the obvious hazard of being bitten; however, I found it challenging to identify a hazard of being hit by a car. I think this may due to subconsciously identifying direct hazards, more prominently than indirect. I found that the level of risk to be subjective. Referring to the hazard of being bitten, I assumed it to be a moderate to high risk. However, if I had been bitten previously, I subconsciously may have increased this risk to extreme. In managing this hazard, I thought it was difficult to prevent, without offending the customer (muffling). Therefore, a major challenge for me was to not impact customer perception through a management–plan. 3)Interpret your experience. Why do you think you experienced the challenges that you did? If it was because you did not have something you needed, explain what you needed and how you would have benefited/ what you would have been able to do differently if you did have it. I believe that there is one main reason I experienced challenges; that I am not a dog owner. Hence. I needed the experience of being around dogs, and understanding their nature. With this experience, I think I

I learned there were different types of employment relationships (common law, statutory, and independent) which I didn't know even exist. I learned the different types of discrimination and about illegal employees. I also learned that illegal citizens have rights to work in the US with the proper permit. I didn't even know about e–verify or that employers check if your legal to work in the US. I learned a lot about OSHA and workplace safety. The three concepts that I feel are the most relevant to me are at will employment, workplace bullying /hostile work environment and confidentially. I learned a lot about these three topics and can relate them to my workplace and any future jobs I will have. I never knew everyone was at–will employment, unless otherwise stated. I thought if it was stated in your contract that you're at–will then you are. I only signed one contract to work at a place and it stated it was at–will. It shocks me that America is the only country to have at –will employment. This allows employers to fire employees for any causes except an illegal one. An employer can change wages, terminate benefits, or reduce paid time off. Employers can change the terms of the employment with no notice and no consequences (Mejeur and Larson–Krieg, 2016). • 16. Workplace Safety In The Workplace Workplace safety is a big deal. If you don't think so, take a look at the research done by the Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA).American employers pay out an average of $1 billion per week for workman's compensation fees. Mind you, this doesn't include medical and legal fees that incur. Staying on top of the safety aspect in your workplace is not only essential because you don't want to see anyone get hurt. It's essential because it's best for the financial health of your business. When it comes to workplace safety, employee engagement needs to be placed high on the list of topics to approach. This is the case for a few reasons. 1.Perception It's often stated that perception is everything. People filter information through the lens of their own perceptions. Whether their perception is healthy or not, they're bound to look at it through that lens. So, as an employer that's desiring employee engagement, it's important to consider a person's perception. While you're not responsible for every little detail of why people perceive information the way that they do, you do need to take it into account. For example, if something happens with a machine breaking down and it's the fault of a particular employee, the initial feelings might be mixed with anger and frustration. However, it's best to calm down, get collected and face the issue with a cool head.
