Importance of English
The Importance of English in the World of International Business 'English is now a global language that belongs to all those who speak it.' (Nigel
Newton, publisher) It is the technology that allows people to travel further and faster than ever before. It is the Internet that links people regardless
their nationalities and countries they live in. And technology is also the reason why lots of business people are active globally and why more and
more entrepreneurs are on the move than ever before. In this world full of the state–of–the–art technology English serves as a uniting element in many
situations, giving all entrepreneurs and small companies a better chance on the market and an ideal comparative advantage over those who...show more

The ways in which the words can be meaningfully combined is defined by the language's syntax and grammar. The actual meaning of words and
combinations of words is defined by the language's semantics. The latest and the most advanced discoveries and inventions in science and
technology are being made in the universities located in the United States of America where English language is the means of scientific discourse.
The historical circumstances of India (having been ruled by the British for over two centuries) have given the Indians an easy access to mastering
English language, and innumerable opportunities for advancement in the field of science and technology. Many Indians have become so skilled in
English language and have won many international awards for creative and comparative literatures during the last few years. Sometime ago, an
Indian author, Arundhati Roy, won the prestigious booker prize for her book "The God of Small Things". Her book sold lakhs of copies all over the
globe. Over the years, English language has become one of our principal assets in getting a global leadership for books written by Indian authors and
for films made by Indians in English language. A famous Indian movie maker Shekhar Kapoor's film "Elizabeth" has got several nominations for Oscar
Awards. It does not require any further argument to establish the advantage English language has brought to us at the international level. English

as apply it to my future expectations. Executive Summary World English has been found to be very important to business communication because
it affects the performance of a business. World English is needed for networking, making contracts, and is used in any general work relationship. I
have found that English is becoming the main language used in the business world. This is because one dominant language makes it easier for
people to communicate with each other. It is being taught around the world and many companies look for proficiency in English as a quality to
consider. Good speaking and writing skills in English are crucial in the business world. I find that in any job I will apply for in the future will need
me to be very knowledgeable in the English language. I will need it to communicate with others and move them in my favor. World English Data

Importance of Grammar Essay
A.Introduction
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar
teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that "language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the
indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified" (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to
the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to
help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students...show more

reported in the fourth and fifth part before the final conclusion is displayed.
B.Evaluation of Miss Wong's Teaching Approach
B(1). Teaching philosophy
It is teachers' beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction (William & Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven
kinks of teachers' beliefs about learners: resisters, receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike the
first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners' active involvement (as cited in William & Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong's
teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e., Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical structure of
passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher's answer checking. However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting
in students' lacking opportunities to apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to regard her students
as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active
to passive or vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a

Importance Of Speaking English Essay
English is arguably the most important language to learn and perfect simply because it has become the universal language for information and
conversation. Though it takes many different forms or dialects, the language of English has spread throughout the world and has become one of the
most important skills a person can possess. British or BBC English became the language of power and prominence during the Second World War
before being replaced by American English. Countries that were colonized by the United Kingdom have retained English despite decolonization. In
India, speaking English is a sign of education and class. Important government and law offices will conduct business in English as opposed to the
Hindu language. In many African countries, speaking English is the key to obtaining a well–paying job. It acts as a link language for companies that
employ people who speak a variety of other tribal languages. Because of the industry world's move into Asia, English has also found a home there.
Children in Japan are learning English and mixing it with their own language to create a hybrid that has worked its way into all aspects of Japanese life.
Business and media is conducted in English in many countries throughout Asia. Even the places deemed international, the skies and the seas, are ruled
by the English language. Any person wanting to conduct business or exchange information with anyone internationally would benefit from having

Importance Of English Language Arts Essay
What is English Language Arts? How does it differ from English, the language itself? English Language Arts is not a language, but it is the study of
communicating thoughts. Every subject is important in school; each demonstrates a particular skill in education, but Language Arts builds complexity
of a person's learning. Speaking, reading, and writing are all components of language arts. Having these skills are important; the first thing an
interviewer notices is one's ability to articulate, and learning English Language Arts helps to obtain that goal. Being able to communicate, express one's
self, and build life skills, are the reasons why English Language Arts is the most important subject in our education. First and foremost, the...show more

However, as I learned more in language arts, I discovered others methods in writing. I know how to create stories by being imaginative, or write
poetry by thinking creatively. Writing takes critical thinking, a general skill widely used in life. Subjects like math or science may use critical
thinking, but it focuses more on applying knowledge in discussions rather than your own thoughts. Learning language arts have taught me to be more
expressive; you will never know if your words could inspire someone one day.
Lastly, English Language Arts build life skills that are crucial in life, to prepare yourself for the outside world. The first impression in an interview
is how you present yourself, not how many achievements you have made. The way you speak, the way you act, the way you answer the questions,
are parts of doing presentations. Senior portfolio is an example of a presentation in high school, and it is taught in English Language Arts class. The
senior portfolio is probably one of the most important projects in one's whole high school career because it reflects your growth as a student and as
an individual. Learning how to create a good portfolio from Language Arts class shows one's education level. In addition, companies recruit people
with a good education, what you have learned in English Language Arts will prepare you in college, and your future career.

The Importance Of The English Language
Did English achieve its world–wide status because of its linguistic features; in other words, because it is more logical, more expressive, simpler or
perhaps has a more richer vocabulary than other languages? The answer to this question is no, English did not achieve its world– wide status because
of such reasons, it was not the language that was the cause but more the people who spoke it, more accurately, discovered, conquered, traded,
influenced and spread out their culture which their mother tongue belonged to. This culture and society was that of the British Empire. However, one
contributing factor to the spread of English that is caused by the language itself, is its ability to inherit words from other languages and cultures, whilst
also being able to vary from country to country whilst still maintaining its English title.
The British empire's mother tongue is English, with this being the case, wherever the British empire travelled or expanded to, English would follow. A
major example of this migration of
English away from the British Isles was the colonization of America. Before officially becoming theUnited States of America, English was the most
commonly spoken language, so when the founders understood the importance of language for national Identity, English being the more common of the
many languages that were being spoken during the time, was chosen. Afterwards, an act that would fully cement English as the USA's national
language, was the forbidding of any

Importance of English Class Essay
Taking an English class during college is important for a fundamental education, because regardless of the major I chose, I must able to communicate
well in written and spoken words. After all, in the future, when I try to obtain a job, the corporations will most likely base their decision on my ability
to express ideas and opinions in a sophisticated and correct manner. Therefore, increasing my knowledge and skills in English will increase my
opportunities to success. Yet, currently, many students try to avoid taking English class due to the great amount of practice and dedication that
requires. This, in the long run, decreases their abilities to analyze, express and critique ideas. Personally, taking an English class has made my...show

As a foreign student, English class gave me the opportunity to improve my overall knowledge about the language. Another writing mistake was
thinking what I was going to write in Spanish and then try to translate it to English. Nevertheless, this does not work. The grammar and idiom
differences would make my writing sound confusing and clumsy. In the future, this could affect my performance as a professional. And since a
sloppy writing will most likely reflect on a person's poor vocabulary, I am presently learning to improve my vocabulary by reading frequently since it
helps me to be exposing to new words, sentence structures, and styles techniques, which I could use in my future assignments. During the semester, I
learned to focus on my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I could use my organization, paragraph structure, and transition skills to keep high
quality writing. This will be helpful to assure an above average grade when I take English 102 during the summer. On the other hand, although students
often try to avoid their weaknesses, I see them as useful. Knowing my weaknesses gives me the opportunity to work on them until they become
strengths. For example, as I mentioned before, organization is presently my biggest strength. However, at the beginning of the course, it wasn't. I had
to practice and work on it until it became natural and

Importance Of English In Kenya
Most people who think of English will agree that it is one of the most diverse forms of communication. A hybrid made of various words and phrases
from other cultures, it is commonly considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases, English is not
being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English
has become an underhanded tool to partition the power between the elites and the commoners.
Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and has become ingrained in society and daily life
as an important function. In Kenya's case, English was...show more content...
In the year 1963, Kenya was fully declared independent from British rule. However, its influence still exists throughout the country today. Currently,
English is used in primary and secondary education, and based on British English and spelling. (Cite as before) Today, English is one of the official
languages in Kenya, alongside Swahili, the native language.
Though English has many uses, and plays important roles, it has also been used as ulterior means to promoting a (destructive) hegemony.
"Kenya opted for capitalism and English as the most practical medium for business communication" (English around the World)
Despite the widespread presence of English throughout the country, (much like other countries) the actual understanding and ~~ of English is low. In
fact, it is estimated only twenty percent to a quarter of the (common) population has a decent and ~~ understanding of the language. It is "sometimes a
second, third or even fourth language for large segments of the population.". Even those who know English may not be speaking it correctly.
This fact is the core of the governmental problem in Kenya– English is being manipulated as a means to ensure more power to the government and
take away from the common people. For example, daily media, magazines, and websites are widely biased towards using English and continue to
grow. This poses a big problem for government situations. The official language for documents and

One kind of problem that immigrants share is the need to learn the English language, even if learning English is a very hard language to learn. When
immigrants do not learn English, they are fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never integrate into
the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school,
they take low paying jobs themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore when you move to a
different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your
interest in and commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because; they believe that most of the people
they do business with can speak English. The lack of understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater
disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. It is very important for immigrants to learn and understand English in order for them
to be successful and live the American dream. (Poisl, 2011). A person needs to have the ability to demonstrate an appropriate understanding of the
English language, in order to impress potential employers. According to the author of the Article Dashboard, "English is the

The Importance Of English Academic Vocabulary
Introduction
There are many students choosing to study abroad, most of them are choosing the developed countries as their first choice, such as the US, UK and so
on. Thus, learning English well is an important factor for students to study abroad. In addition, it is often claimed that vocabulary is the foundation of
the language competence, thus insufficient academic vocabulary knowledge would be a key challenge for students to study. Most students spend much
time on learning English vocabulary, but the result is not very good. Therefore, it probably needs to find the most effective ways to improve students
learning efficiency. This essay will examine some research and find out the effective ways for international students to learn the English academic
vocabulary.
Definition of the English Academic Vocabulary
First of all, according to Gardner and Davies (2014), the Academic Vocabulary List is based on a 120–million–word academic sub–corpus of the Corpus
of Contemporary American. In addition, there are two different ways to define the academic vocabulary, domain–specific academic vocabulary and
general academic vocabulary. The domain–specific academic vocabulary includes the low–frequency words and phrases, and these terms and words are
included in content area textbooks and other technical materials. The general academic vocabulary includes the words that are modest frequency from
academic domains but not in literary texts, and sometimes general academic vocabulary have

It is very crucial in any writing EFL program, to adopt the systematic philosophy in teaching L2 writing. As a former EFL writing teacher, I have
experienced many ways in teaching writing; though, I found the best way to approach is to adapt the process–oriented instruction that hypothesized
writing as global skills by following particular stages that well–structured writing (Ferris, D., & Hedgcock, J., 2014, p 63). Writing is a difficult skill
that requires approaching steps to accomplish writing goals as a one completed piece. Hence, I do believe that writing in English for ESL students,
should be systematically formed into stages such as: prewriting, planning, drafting, and editing to meet the learners' scaffolding that will minimize the
difficulties that they may encounter when writing (Ferris, D., & Hedgcock, J., 2014, p 65).
While teaching writing for EFL students, I usually start teaching steps by steps and following this procedural process in writing. As I have experienced
teaching students in the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia, I used to instruct my students to write, for example, argumentative essays and other
essays using a gradual process of writing ranging from establishing the thesis and ending by formatting the entire essay. This is called product
approach which I strongly believe it because of being very beneficial for my students to scaffolding in English writing. I also noticed that students
could progress in writing because they begin learning to

In this paper, I argue if our modern–day society needs a global language such as English. English as a global language is necessary because it is more
efficient, globalization, and most people already have some knowledge of English. English is of great importance in many places around the world,
for this reason, it would be an excellent candidate to be the world's lingua franca, or a global language.
English is of importance to become our universal language, because with the globalized society we live in, communication among different groups of
people, has become increasingly important in the last 25 years. According to Statista.com, "1,500 million people worldwide speak English, of whom
only 375 million are native speakers" 1.5 billion people speak English, that's 20% of the world that can already communicate with each other. One of
the biggest reasons for English to be the world's lingua franca, is because of media, such as phones, tv, books, and the internet. Never in the history of
mankind have humans been more interconnected than they are right now due to the internet. With the rise of the internet in the past 20 years, English
quickly became the dominant language of the World Wide Web. Due to this, if everyone had the ability to have one common language, it would make it
possible for everyone online to interact, communicate, and learn more about each other's cultures. With this ability for everyone to understand on the
internet what each other is saying, it would allow

European literature and science among the natives of India.' The history of India entered into a new era with this announcement of Lord William

product of such education would be 'Indian in blood and colour but English in taste, in opinion, in morals and intellect.' Educational institutions were

all of their meeting there would have to be someone that spoke all of the languages that the members of the meeting spoke, or several translators

  • 3. Importance of Grammar Essay A.Introduction It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that "language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified" (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students...show more content... In the third part, three pedagogical implications will be presented. In addition, a grammar activity and its theoretical rationale will be respectively reported in the fourth and fifth part before the final conclusion is displayed. B.Evaluation of Miss Wong's Teaching Approach B(1). Teaching philosophy It is teachers' beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction (William & Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers' beliefs about learners: resisters, receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike the first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners' active involvement (as cited in William & Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong's teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e., Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical structure of passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher's answer checking. However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting in students' lacking opportunities to apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to regard her students as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active to passive or vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Learning language arts have taught me to be more expressive; you will never know if your words could inspire someone one day. Lastly, English Language Arts build life skills that are crucial in life, to prepare yourself for the outside world. The first impression in an interview is how you present yourself, not how many achievements you have made. The way you speak, the way you act, the way you answer the questions, are parts of doing presentations. • 8. The Importance Of The English Language Did English achieve its world–wide status because of its linguistic features; in other words, because it is more logical, more expressive, simpler or perhaps has a more richer vocabulary than other languages? The answer to this question is no, English did not achieve its world– wide status because of such reasons, it was not the language that was the cause but more the people who spoke it, more accurately, discovered, conquered, traded, influenced and spread out their culture which their mother tongue belonged to. This culture and society was that of the British Empire. However, one contributing factor to the spread of English that is caused by the language itself, is its ability to inherit words from other languages and cultures, whilst also being able to vary from country to country whilst still maintaining its English title. The British empire's mother tongue is English, with this being the case, wherever the British empire travelled or expanded to, English would follow. A major example of this migration of English away from the British Isles was the colonization of America. Before officially becoming theUnited States of America, English was the most commonly spoken language, so when the founders understood the importance of language for national Identity, English being the more common of the many languages that were being spoken during the time, was chosen. As a foreign student, English class gave me the opportunity to improve my overall knowledge about the language. Another writing mistake was thinking what I was going to write in Spanish and then try to translate it to English. Nevertheless, this does not work. The grammar and idiom differences would make my writing sound confusing and clumsy. In the future, this could affect my performance as a professional. And since a sloppy writing will most likely reflect on a person's poor vocabulary, I am presently learning to improve my vocabulary by reading frequently since it helps me to be exposing to new words, sentence structures, and styles techniques, which I could use in my future assignments. During the semester, I learned to focus on my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I could use my organization, paragraph structure, and transition skills to keep high quality writing. This will be helpful to assure an above average grade when I take English 102 during the summer. On the other hand, although students often try to avoid their weaknesses, I see them as useful. Knowing my weaknesses gives me the opportunity to work on them until they become strengths. For example, as I mentioned before, organization is presently my biggest strength. However, at the beginning of the course, it wasn't. I had to practice and work on it until it became natural and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A hybrid made of various words and phrases from other cultures, it is commonly considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases, English is not being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English has become an underhanded tool to partition the power between the elites and the commoners. Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and has become ingrained in society and daily life as an important function. Currently, English is used in primary and secondary education, and based on British English and spelling. (Cite as before) Today, English is one of the official languages in Kenya, alongside Swahili, the native language. Though English has many uses, and plays important roles, it has also been used as ulterior means to promoting a (destructive) hegemony. "Kenya opted for capitalism and English as the most practical medium for business communication" (English around the World) Despite the widespread presence of English throughout the country, (much like other countries) the actual understanding and ~~ of English is low. In fact, it is estimated only twenty percent to a quarter of the (common) population has a decent and ~~ understanding of the language. It is "sometimes a second, third or even fourth language for large segments of the population.". Even those who know English may not be speaking it correctly. This fact is the core of the governmental problem in Kenya– English is being manipulated as a means to ensure more power to the government and take away from the common people. For example, daily media, magazines, and websites are widely biased towards using English and continue to grow. This poses a big problem for government situations. One kind of problem that immigrants share is the need to learn the English language, even if learning English is a very hard language to learn. When immigrants do not learn English, they are fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never integrate into the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school, they take low paying jobs themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore when you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your interest in and commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because; they believe that most of the people they do business with can speak English. The lack of understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. The Importance Of English Academic Vocabulary Introduction There are many students choosing to study abroad, most of them are choosing the developed countries as their first choice, such as the US, UK and so on. Thus, learning English well is an important factor for students to study abroad. In addition, it is often claimed that vocabulary is the foundation of the language competence, thus insufficient academic vocabulary knowledge would be a key challenge for students to study. Most students spend much time on learning English vocabulary, but the result is not very good. Therefore, it probably needs to find the most effective ways to improve students learning efficiency. Definition of the English Academic Vocabulary First of all, according to Gardner and Davies (2014), the Academic Vocabulary List is based on a 120–million–word academic sub–corpus of the Corpus of Contemporary American. In addition, there are two different ways to define the academic vocabulary, domain–specific academic vocabulary and general academic vocabulary. The domain–specific academic vocabulary includes the low–frequency words and phrases, and these terms and words are included in content area textbooks and other technical materials. The general academic vocabulary includes the words that are modest frequency from academic domains but not in literary texts, and sometimes general academic vocabulary have Get more content on HelpWriting.net

As a former EFL writing teacher, I have experienced many ways in teaching writing; though, I found the best way to approach is to adapt the process–oriented instruction that hypothesized writing as global skills by following particular stages that well–structured writing (Ferris, D., & Hedgcock, J., 2014, p 63). Writing is a difficult skill that requires approaching steps to accomplish writing goals as a one completed piece. Hence, I do believe that writing in English for ESL students, should be systematically formed into stages such as: prewriting, planning, drafting, and editing to meet the learners' scaffolding that will minimize the difficulties that they may encounter when writing (Ferris, D., & Hedgcock, J., 2014, p 65). While teaching writing for EFL students, I usually start teaching steps by steps and following this procedural process in writing. As I have experienced teaching students in the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia, I used to instruct my students to write, for example, argumentative essays and other essays using a gradual process of writing ranging from establishing the thesis and ending by formatting the entire essay. This is called product approach which I strongly believe it because of being very beneficial for my students to scaffolding in English writing. English as a global language is necessary because it is more efficient, globalization, and most people already have some knowledge of English. English is of great importance in many places around the world, for this reason, it would be an excellent candidate to be the world's lingua franca, or a global language. English is of importance to become our universal language, because with the globalized society we live in, communication among different groups of people, has become increasingly important in the last 25 years. According to Statista.com, "1,500 million people worldwide speak English, of whom only 375 million are native speakers" 1.5 billion people speak English, that's 20% of the world that can already communicate with each other. One of the biggest reasons for English to be the world's lingua franca, is because of media, such as phones, tv, books, and the internet. Never in the history of mankind have humans been more interconnected than they are right now due to the internet. With the rise of the internet in the past 20 years, English quickly became the dominant language of the World Wide Web.
