Essay 1: Recycling
Recycling has been the environmental crusade to reducing the human footprint, with it's spotlight shining down on in recent years. It was the noblest of
causes, recycling being a great idea for the environment and society; but it is being handled poorly. Its modern descendant has turned into a corporate
scheme with recycling becoming a business, instead of being about the environment because marketers are using environmentalism as a excuse for
overconsumption, recycling products are only being recycled for profit, and cities & big business use inflated numbers to attain media attention. Let's

Companies are using environmentalism as a straw man for overconsumption. Coming straight out of writer Amy Westervelt's article, "Can Recycling
Be Bad for the Environment?", Westervelt clearly sees through this ploy of emotional appeal, stating "American consumers
Cohen, 2 assuage any guilt they might feel about consuming mass quantities of unnecessary, disposable goods by dutifully tossing these items into

America from an industrial country to a environmental country has taught big business how to market environmentalism in mass quantities of their
product. The strategy of the consumption–environment mindset are increasing rapidly. If this trend of buying without thinking does not slow down,
with problems like not shifting priority from consumption to being environmentally aware, things will certainly worsen. On the topic of green
marketing, people often see that green marketing refers to the advertising of objects or products with environmental characteristics to them (Like the
Nestle bottle, for example). Terms like "Environmentally Friendly", "Refillable", and "Recyclable", are some of the things people associate with green
marketing. In reality

The Pros And Cons Of Recycling
One of the biggest problems that the world struggles with is the way that humans handle waste, especially recyclable material, in the environment.
Plastic bottles ride raves from one continent to another. Plastic bags float through the air and the streets like they are stereotypical tumbleweeds in
an old western movie. Papers and cardboard boxes piled up on top of one another and thrown into the trash or travel through the air. Metal cans litter
the gutters of the street. Due to the fact that Rhode Island is a meagerly sized state, people can simply blow these issues off as someone or some other
state's problem. However, the citizens of Rhode Island are major stakeholders when it comes to the improper handling of both waste and recycling in the
state. There is nothing that Rhode Islanders can do to completely solve the myriad of problems that plague the area. The Central Landfill in Johnston
will always have too much waste and recyclable material in it, improper materials fill recycling receptacles, and a number of products can contaminate
entire truckloads of recycling. But, there are ways where people can become active and seek change in places such as their houses or their
neighborhood.
What Is the Difference Between Recycling and Waste
Recyclables are materials that are used, sorted, cleaned, and then processed into new materials for manufacturers. Plastics, metal cans and containers,
and paper materials are the most common types of recyclable materials. Recycling is important to control greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy
usage, lower water pollution, and save resources (PM's 1). The recycling is a simple three–step process. First, the Environmental Protection Agency
states are the collection and processing of materials. Town trucks drive around neighborhoods and collect whatever citizens put in their recycling bins.
Then, the trucks bring them to a recovery facility where the sorting, cleaning, processing, and selling of the products takes place. Next, the bought
materials turn into newspapers, paper towels, plastic, cans, and glass containers. The process repeats until the materials cannot be reused alone so a
multitude of people use them in roads and cars (United 1).

Recycling Is Bad RECYCLING IS BAD! Recycling is not , although there are beneficial to the environment There are some benefits to recycling
there are more disadvantages than advantages. Recycling cost a lot of money and has no big advantages to our personal lives. When recycling you
use up a lot of energy, but using up all of that energy, is it actually worth it? Would still recycle if you knew the consequences? When your
compacting the trash plastics have to be put with the plastics if not the whole batch will be messed up. Since people are the ones separating the
recyclables there is a high chance of a mess up. But if they don't mess up the batch it can be helpful to the enviroment.
