Abstract
This paper reflects about criminal justice careers that will help me get knowledge and get a better idea about the career that I choose. Components of
criminal justice: law enforcement, courts, and corrections. A brief description about the career, the requirements, and the hiring criteria the career has.
Tell why the position interest me, how does it relate to the career path that I want, and finally what I'm looking for in gaining from the career. Keywords:

The reason why is because that helps me go back and analyze what happened. I also like investigating: I like to think beyond the things that actually
happened. This will really help me in becoming a crime scene investigator because you have to record everything you see and you have to collect
evidence. You have to think beyond what you see because you have to try to find the person that did it. The entry level salary range of $30,000–
$40,000 depending on the agency. To be honest I don't really look at it for the money, this is something that I want to do, it what I like. (Goodman, &

Another component of the Criminal Justice system is corrections. One of the jobs that the correction has is a parole agent. The goal for a parole
agent is to protect the public. The responsibility for a parole agent is to assist ex– offenders so that they can adjust to life in a save and free
community. They are also responsible to prevent future criminal acts. They help the people become a better person so that they can have a productive
and normal live. Parole agents supervise the offenders who had been released from prison. (Careers in criminal, 2006)
What the parole agent has to do is that they need to investigate the offender. For example the parole agent investigates the offender's background so that

Before going into college to study Criminal Justice, I had the same opinion as most people had when it came to criminals or deviant behavior. The

The criminal justice system is necessary for us to live in a safe and trustworthy society. Police officers, the judicial system and the system itself is
beneficial in many ways such as allowing citizens to feel safe and secure in their communities, having a zero–tolerance on criminal acts and believing
everything will have a consequence, either good or bad. To summarize, my view or stance has not changed regarding the criminal justice system and
law enforcement; however, what has changed is my naivety regarding the criminal judicial system. Before I took this class I believed that once a
subject is arrested for committing a crime, the criminal is sent to jail and that is the end of it. However, it is not always that way; an example that
exemplifies flaws in the criminal justice system is the sentence of Brock Turner, a Stanford student athlete that was caught sexually assaulting an
unconscious woman behind a dumpster, he was subsequently arrested and was found guilty for three felonies including: assault with intent to rape an
intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign
object. In the end through various plea deals, Brock Turner only received a six–month jail sentence and three–year parole. Aside from his youthful age
and remorse, it has been shown that he should have been faced with at least a fourteen–year prison sentence regardless of his circumstances. Another I
believe that to be effective in deterring crime and show non–bias there should be minimum sentences across the board. Because when it comes to Brock
Turner's sentencing many lost faith in the criminal justice system and claimed that the judge was being biased because of his race and class.
All in all, I believe that the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is most effective in measuring crime mostly due to number of
offenses that is covered under NIBRS unlike the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) which only carries data regarding 21 offenses. NIBRS covers 46

Under the new rules, officers must record a crime anything that is reported as a crime. In the past, if an officer thought that someone was lying
(hoping for compensation perhaps) or thought that the crime was not as major as murder for example, then he or she did not nee to record it. If the
Government do succeed in the new system of compiling statistics then crime statistics may become increasingly reliable. This is because all crime is
recorded, no matter how big or small the crime is. However the statistics may not necessarily be entirely true, as many people may not report their
crime to the police. The majority of the crime not being reported is due to the fear within oneself, or victims may not think that the crime they have
been involved in was minor. Victims who are scared are more likely to be those involved in domestic violence or other sort of abuse. If there was a
couple, and the husband regularly abused his wife, the wife would get scared to report this to the police as she may believe that if her husband find
out then he will take revenge and might abuse her even more which may sometimes lead to extents such as murder. Or there maybe cases where
teenagers have been abused by bullies in school. They might be frightened to tell an adult, let alone the police as
