I visited the Baltimore Museum of Art to see their "Imagining Homes" exhibition which featured artwork exploring the concepts of home as a place of security and comfort as well as fear and danger. The first piece that caught my eye was an oil painting depicting a girl sleeping while leaning on the balcony railing of her apartment, symbolizing the comfort and security she feels in her home, represented through attention-grabbing colors. Walking through the exhibition gave insights into different artistic perspectives on the complex meanings that the idea of "home" can represent.

1. Review Of Contemporary Art Exhibition
For this exhibition review assignment, I went to the Royal Ontario Museum's Daphne Cockwell Gallery of Canada: The First Peoples. This
permanent exhibition within the ROM that focuses on Canada's Indigenous Peoples. I chose this specific exhibit because I had spent so much time
there in the past as a visitor, a historian and an anthropologist, but never as a student of Museum Studies. However, on my visit on 26 September
2017, I noticed a few changes to the exhibit in regards to the collection in the gallery. These changes I believe, were made strategically by the curators
and the Indigenous advisors for a few reasons including the celebration of Canada's sesquicentennial and/or due to the Task Force Report, and general
reflexivity seen in...show more content...
These are a few of the ways in which the ROM attempts to narrate and weave a story of Indigenous history and culture that creates a chronologically
larger and older history of Canada that continues today. This strategy most likely is a result of the recommendations made by the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission of Canada Task Force Report on Indigenous representation and interpretation within the museum setting (Task Force
Report, 1992). Another effective means of relaying Indigenous history and culture to the museum's visitors is through the BMO Financial Theatre
located towards the back of the exhibit. This is a brilliant strategy employed by the ROM because it uses traditional mediums of Indigenous oral history
and storytelling to teach a diverse group of visitors. However, it would have been interesting and maybe more inclusive to Indigenous audiences to have
the stories told not only in English and French but in native languages as well. The addition of oral storytelling and oral history is a fantastic method
that can be employed to immerse visitors into better understanding Indigenous traditions. With the sesquicentennial celebrations occurring throughout
Canada during the year, Canadian nationalism and national identity is something that has been present everywhere via the Canadian media,
governments and various other outlets. The Royal Ontario Museum being a

2. Art Gallery Review
I went to the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas, located on 3275 Industrial road (major cross–street Desert Inn) which opened in August of 2008.
At the museum it holds, erotic art, exhibits, different timelines and a lot of illustrated history of erotica. There were many tasteful pieces of
artwork, whether it be painting, magazine covers, posters, figures, and sculptures. I was also very excited to have actually seen the piece called
"Venus of Willendorf" that is featured in our book on page 164. I took my time looking at all the different pictures to see which I would choose from
to write about. Then I observed one, it was untitled, made in 2008 and the artists name is Fang. I did research on the artist and did not find much on her

knew his best friend was into erotic art. Overall my experience at the Erotic Heritage museum was very pleasant, nothing too distasteful. I found
this place to be comical, and a great place to get knowledge about sexual behavior. There were many different pictures and news clippings, and
information on the erotica. There were lots of statues and old art showing different cultures views on sex. There were different views of women's
vaginas on the walls and also homosexuality views as well. I also saw the first "vibrator" as we call it today but back then it was the fifth electronic
appliance. I enjoyed all of the art that I reviewed about for all the uniqueness of it overall. Throughout the whole two floors of the museum I was not
disgusted by any of it mostly because I have a very open mind and think "outside the box". It all was displayed very well throughout the museum and
all of the staff was very

3. A Visit to the Museum Report
The exhibit I visited was at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, the exhibit was called The Art of the Americas Wing. The exhibit itself had various
painting of famous figures and art pieces about the time period dated back from the American Colonies to modern day art pieces. I felt that all of the
pieces in this exhibit were meaningful and there was a sense of history and pride in the way the exhibit was set up. Each piece of art were unique on
its own and just standing near the piece for a short time and watching the different people walk by and look at it, the reactions were unanimous.
In Watson and the Shark, when I first set eyes on the featured painting I thought it was something to do with Herman Melville's characters, Moby
Dick and Captain Ahab. Of course that is not the case. In the text next to the painting it explained the true meaning of the piece. Drawn by John
Singleton Copley, the painting depicts the story of a London Merchant Brook Watson's trauma at age fourteen of being a victim of a shark attack off
Havana, Cuba, an experience that cost the former cabin boy his leg. Copley portrays the third rescue attempt by nearby sailors, glorifying it as a story
of salvation and spiritual rebirth. It is unclear whether if Copley referencing both Christ's Resurrection as well as the renewal of the British Empire in
the aftermath of the American Revolution, in the visual image of Watson emerging from the watery depths. With the underlying message of the spiritual

For this project I visited multiple online museums, but decided on The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, and the Art Institute of
Chicago. Three pieces of artwork that I found to be interesting to me and that caught my eye are The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder found at
http://www.metmuseum.org, Open Window, Collioure by Henri Matisse found at http://www.nga.gov, and Christ Washing the Feet of His Disciples
by Nicolas Bertin found at http://www.artic.edu. There are a lot of pieces of art to choose from in each museum, so I had to figure out a way to

Bertin tended to paint pictures of subject who are religious, mythological, and allegorical. This painting in particular portrays Christ washing Saint
Peter's feet right after the Last Supper. There is a strong focal point in this painting and it is the man standing in the red robe with his hand on his
chest. There is also a lot of activity in this painting as well because there is Christ to the left washing the feet surrounded by his disciples, the women
in the background at the table, and the man to the right fixing his shoe. Bertin used a lot of facial expressions for each of the people in this painting
from puzzled to humiliation. The size of this oil on panel painting is 1 ft 7.5 inches by 2 ft 4.75

I feel that my Exhibition this term was a lot better than my last. I was able to do a lot more things I wanted to do and got into more depth with the
topics I talked about. I was able to engage my audience even more with the activity which I would say was a better improvement than last
exhibition. In my Exhibition I felt that I did really well with my volume and how I talked. I was able to talk a lot more in depth and showed my
progress in my topics which I would say I improved a lot in. Another strength I would say is how I was able to interact more with my audience and
show what I learned in a more interactive way. Rather than me just talking in front of my audience for 15 minutes about dirt. Some things I wasn't

I will be able to do this by finishing my exhibition early so I have time to practice and practice. I also want to procrastinate less when I'm making my
exhibition, so my plan to achieve this is by making a day planner. Where it'll have a specific time and what I have to achieve by then, which will
actually help me be more organized with myself. Another challenge I'd like to do is to continue to try and make more activities so I'm able to present
a more engaging exhibition just like this one. Just so my exhibition doesn't end up being boring but even more engaging for my audience, just so they
have something to do rather than me just talking. I'd say that from my Term 1 Exhibition to now, I was able toimprove a lot more in those areas I said
in my term 1 reflection. I was able to manage well better now compared to both my first and second exhibitions, this exhibition I was able to finish a
week before. Which has given me time to rehearse what I wanted to say and even add on new things. I was also able to engage my audience a lot
due to the activity with the soil. Which I'm pretty sure my audience actually enjoyed quite a lot. According to my first exhibition, I wanted to
improve more on how I talked and I think I got a lot better in that too as well. As I think I'm able to talk more clearer now than when I first started.
Some challenges I'd say that I'm still facing is just the procrastination part. Even though I have been able to improve a lot more on

This pretty much sums up the character. As for the rest of the piece the background behind the character is a mixture of colors. Some of the colors I
was able to see through all the shading and blending where but not limited to splotches of purple, yellow, dark pink and red, urine yellow, violet, blue,
white, and finally pink. These colors are mixed together with different unique moments and swishes of the brush. Then in the four corners of the piece
there is four different sized suns. Each sun is placed, shaped and sized differently in each corner. The colors of each sun is the same thou. Each sun
is bright yellow with mixtures of white each placed in different parts of the sun. The artist really used many lines and really used or utilized this
element. There is also many shapes especially in the character and foreground. The form of the character is looks amateur but the artist wanted it to be

I recently visited your gallery, and the collection you have installed shows that you have a clear interest in contemporary art. I respect your collection,
but believe it would benefit greatly from some new and diverse subject matter. It is for this reason that I highly recommend you consider making the
works of Titus Kaphar the next addition to your gallery.
Titus Kaphar is a black contemporary artist who is still working each day to create and push for art that breaks boundaries and addresses political
turbulence and the challenges that people of color are currently facing. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and currently works between New York
and New Haven after earning his Master of Fine Arts degree at Yale University. His work

People who have never shared the experience of worrying about being perceived as more criminal or dangerous due to the color of their skin
insinuated that some of these victims could not have possibly been shot had they simply put their hands up and peacefully surrendered. The resulting
dialogue lead to the mantra of "Hands up, don't shoot" becoming a major part of protests as participants were unarmed and non–violent, as a symbol of
their right to protest peacefully without worry of injury or death by law enforcement. This aspect of the painting heavily implies the moment that is
being captured at this particular event, as it has likely been noticed by bystanders, possibly authorities, and they must do all they can to show that they
are harmless. To add to this, the men in the front of the crowd have their heads tilted slightly upward, with a hooded gaze looking over the path ahead;
a path that may be blocked by those who wish to silence them. To highlight this point, half the painting is awash with harsh, scratchy strokes of white,
distorting the crowd and covering the majority of the primary figures, most notably their mouths. This is a very literal homage to the idea of
whitewashing and silencing those protesting against issues that white people do not face, as well as erasing their identities as black Americans.
Additionally, the dark night background is washed with red, bleeding into the implications of streetlights and cell phone cameras

Visiting an art museum, has always been a great experience for me. The quiet, calming, and comfortable atmosphere makes it even more
enjoyable. For the second time this year, I entered the Baltimore Museum of Art. I knew what exhibition I wanted to look at. It was called "Imagining
Homes". A home is a place, where one is meant to feel secure and comfortable. However, home can also be a place where one may feel fear and be in
danger. So, I was very eager to see what pieces of artwork would be displayed in this exhibition.
As I walked into the exhibition area, the first piece that caught my eye was an oil painting of a girl standing on the balcony of, perhaps, her home, with
her arm on the railing and half her face hidden in her arm. She is probably sleeping, because her eyes, which can barely be seen, look like they are
closed. It looks like the girl was looking down at the streets and the people from the balcony of her apartment in New York City, and she dozed off.
The way the girl is standing and leaning on the railing of the balcony, in her light pink, peach dress, to me symbolizes that she is comfortable in her
home, and feels secure. The colors used in this painting are very attention grabbing. As I looked at the painting, the first thing I saw was the girl–– as
she stands out in the entire painting. This painting reminds me of how I look out my window and just appreciate the comfort and security that my
home has given me, as this is something not everyone is blessed

Among the many artworks I have seen, I decided to discuss about the "Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior
Women)" from the Roman civilization. It was built sometime in between 140 A.D. to 170 A.D and is approximately forty and a half inches in length,
ninety–one and a half inches in width, and fifty and a half inches tall in height ("Roman Sarcophagus"). This masterpiece appealed to me because of
the unique approach that has been designed to honor the deceased. Many people are familiar with the formatting and inscriptions of a gravestone
because it is usually engraved with an individual's full name, birth date, and death date. During the Roman Empire, a sarcophagus, which is a coffin,
was widely used to show decorative themes that includes: battle scenes, hunting scenes, weddings, or other memorable episodes from the life of the
deceased individual. The most luxurious ones were made from marble surrounded by symbolic sculptures, figures and inscriptions on all four sides
("Sarcophagus"). Another feature that captured my attention was the large quantity of details used to bring out a lifelike aspect of the deceased
individual's favorable moments in their life. In this artwork, this sarcophagus was dedicated to a Roman commander. The exterior of the sarcophagus
has been well–decorated and carved with exquisite details depicting a battle scene

11. Frank Lloyd Wright : An Art Exhibition
Exhibitions are a wonderful way to view and explore art and its many elements. Such exhibitions are traditionally in a gallery, but more and more have
become showcased online. Regardless of how the viewer experiences the exhibition, the art usually has either a theme or central ideas that bring the
pieces together. Frank Lloyd Wright is a man who created many architectural pieces in his life that were displayed in several exhibitions. One such
online exhibition is "Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward." In this exhibition Wright uses a central idea of creating from the inner elements of
design to the outer elements. His architectural pieces visually resemble this idea and are usually accompanied by a description providing even further
support. This accompanying text is not always available when looking at exhibitions displayed physically. While there is this contrast of physical and
online displays, neither type of exhibition is hindered to the overall purpose of displaying art around a central theme.
Frank Lloyd Wright has several architectural pieces in his online exhibition that encompass his central idea of building from the inside to the outside. I
think this statement not only refers to the structural components and physically building the inside first, but also refers to the function of the building
and the focus of how the inside should work and have the exterior simply compliment the inside. One of his pieces that displays this idea of internal
function being

12. Art Attack Exhibition Analysis
The Art Attack Exhibition, which opened in the Gibson Art Gallery at SUNY Potsdam featured many art works produced by art students, there
were over thirty¬ pieces ranging from: sculpture, graphic art, paintings, ceramics and even photography. The pieces were all meticulously done
and altogether made for what was a mix on pop culture and classical art.The gallery was fairly small and people responded accordingly, it was
never full when I visited and people showed up in very small groups at different intervals. The art pieces presented all possessed a visual language
and were symbolic of some idea. One piece that was highly transcendent of this visual language was The Artist's Present by Kyle Derry.
Kyle Derry's work was a mixed media piece that was presented in a wooden frame. The artist depicted a African–American male in blue eye shadow
and bright red lipstick at the fore–front of the painting, and juxtaposed various patterns, drawings and even a paintbrush on the image; suggesting that
those things were important to who the figure was. He used a lot of technique to and experimental gestures to make the painting noticeable...show more

The distinctive sword pattern can be seen repeated in modern day brands and the addition of makeup on the male face challenges gender conception;
something that is often expressed and discussed in today's culture. The African American community has long been a very hetero–sexual,
non–conforming community especially where I am from in Jamaica and the idea of gender conformity although obsolete is one that is very important
and Kyle Derry brings this forward in the most mature and innovative way. It was very exciting to see how the artist boldly challenged gender
conformity and broke free from the obligation to use regular materials and used what he wanted to create an even bolder

On Saturday, July 15, 2017, I had a great time to visit Dallas Art of the museum. I observe the much ancient painting, arts, scriptures, and antique

myself that how creative and the unique artwork that was. Now, I felt like not only the art human being can interpret the meaning of the life but when
other people do not comprehend the others feeling, the artist reflect this feeling on the art to describe his entire story. I also learn about the art and the
artist name. I saw various types of an exhibit from a different country which has their own value and hidden meaning inside the art. One of the crucial
thing that I learn is creativity. We have seen in our society that some people are very creative and critical thinking but they do not realize that they have
a mental image and power to think about anything and make the art surreal. When someone else detects or point out their creativity, that person feels
gratitude and realize that they also have an invisible power to make a creative thing. Art for Delight – Title: Belle Chambre. Artist: No specific Artist.

The art exhibit was in the Gordon Hightower Library. The exhibit was on Thursday, April 10, 2002 and lasted all day long and is still going on.
There were not many paintings, but the two main painters were Marlin Adams and R. Defamore. Adams painted portraits of fruit and people.
Defamore painted a series of paintings that were all similar but very different and dark such as "The Victim– Talking Hand and Screaming Heads" and
"The Hero–To Tell Or Not To Tell".
Deafmore's paintings appear to all be etchings, which is a very hard technique. The technique is like that of Kathe Kollwitz's etching "March of the

each other. The Hero painting has a man with his mouth tied up and a pendulum hanging from his neck and two spears pointed at his chest. The situation

Marlin Adams pictures are basic and don't really shoe any emotion or movement. I do not like pictures of normal people or vegetables because it is

MFAH CULTURAL RESPONSE ESSAY
The art museum is truly a work of art in itself. I enjoy trips to places of culture, be it a play, musical, opera, art gallery or, in this case, a museum.
When I walk in, I feel inspired to draw, paint, and sculpt. For just a little while, I get to focus on art and experience a sense of detachment from the
everyday hustle and bustle of the world. Time truly seems to slow down when you're at the museum. Upon entering the museum, I felt refreshed and
frankly, smarter. For my Cultural Response Essay, I visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. I visited the museum briefly last semester to view
specific works, but this was the first time that my family and I took our time, really feeling the art and traverse all of the rooms. The last time we
went to the museum, we missed an entire top floor! Fortunately this time, we found our way upstairs and lo and behold if it was not my favorite time
period... Egyptian. At the Egyptian exhibit they had mummies, hieroglyphics, jewelry, pottery and statues of pharaohs. The works I enjoyed the most
came from this floor, so I concentrated my efforts there. I chose the Mummy of a child, The Coffin of Pedi–Osiris, and The falcon–form Coffin with
Grain Mummy to discuss. Mummy of a Child dates from between 30 B.C. to 150 AD. Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death, so they
discovered a detailed and complicated process called mummification. The body of the deceased was bathed repeatedly to both cleanse the body and
the soul. The lungs, liver, stomach, and intestines were preserved and protected in canopic jars for the afterlife. The heart, on the other hand, was kept
intact with the body. This was necessary in order for the deceased to prove goodness in the afterlife. The pictures on the delicate wrappings are
extremely significant as everything represents something in Egyptian culture. The painted wrappings of the child held two green jackals at the top, the
jackals representing Anubis, god of embalming. The color green signifies renewal and rebirth which expresses the hope for immortality of the
departed. The red diamond shape in the middle of the jackals represents the child's heart. The mourning females are the goddesses Isis and

16. Art Exhibition Review: Valerie Andrianoff Essay
The Gallery presented a set of bronze sculptures made by a French artist called Valerie Andrianoff. Val's works of art can be perceived as a search for
balance and stability as the heading of this exhibition has already suggested "The Balance of Life" (Byrs–Lasquier, n.d.). In the following, a few of her
works will be selected to illustrate what kind of ideas she is trying to express and how I feel about these sculptures.
Most of the human figures created by Val are small. We can rarely see their facial expression. Most of the people may find them not beautiful, but
through the figures and their body movements, artist's idea of presenting balance really achieves. Like the two Small Round Table (Fig. 1 & 2), the
figure is slim and slender...show more content...
The theme of balance is more explicit in this work of art. Our normal lives are just as this sculpture presents because when a day starts we keep moving
and working, when another day starts, we repeat the similar routine, just like running in a circle, things take place recurrently and we have to sustain
this movement to keep our lives running.
Apart from using circles and small human figures to show the balance of life, Val what's more uses her art to express other human consciousness
and sensation. For example, the work Waiting For Some One III (Fig. 5) illustrates how a person is looking forward for someone but at the same
time is afraid that the one he is waiting for will not appear, so the figure in this work of art hides behind a large mountain or rock to wait for the result.
Another work Lonely On Cube (Fig. 6) also shows a tiny human figure on a large landscape, which according to Byrs–Lasquier, it is Val's intention to
show a sense of gigantic. This sculpture is very similar to Loneliness; both show the lonely figure in solitude. However, this work of art shows the
equilibrium between human and nature in a different way. The figure needs not try to find its own balance such as in the Small Round Table and
Running In A Circle, it just needs to sit there, and then it is already part of the scene.
Although most of the human figures in Val's sculptures are like miniature which attempts to demonstrate how "man, insignificant

19. Advantage Of Art Festivals
"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." By Pablo Picasso. Over the years, some have had the privilege of appreciating art
by visiting different art galleries and institutions. In recent times, however, art festivals have become a popular event where everyone can participate,
explore and enjoy different art works. Art festivals are events that feature different combinations of artworks using various mediums by several artists.
These festivals are usually held at a public setting and they celebrate both the art and the artists. It is important to have such festivals since they benefit
the artists, the public and the general audience of art. Art festivals can be an excellent advantage for indigenous artists who are trying to gain
recognition and enumerating the art pieces they produce. Throughout the years, upcoming artists have found a great deal of difficulties trying to find
different occasions to showcase their work, since most of the opportunities they have had was trying to exhibit their art at different art institution.
Artists face a lot of competition and challenges in terms of getting galleries to represent, show or sell their art. Only an insignificant percentage of
artists will be successful in achieving recognition for their work. "imaginative was originally founded in part as a response to issues as self
