How Technology Will Affect Future Jobs Essay
"One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man" (Hubbard 151). Elbert Hubbard, an
American writer and the founder of Roycroft Artisan community, predicted the future with his epigram. His maxim would resonate for years to come
and would be seen in the future job markets. For thousands of years, technology has fundamentally changed the way we live and interact with our
environment. It has brought us from the Stone Age to the Industrial Revolution. It has taken us from the creation of the computer to the landing on the
moon. Not only has technology affected the old, but also it has affected the youth. For the old and aged, modern technological innovations have

A unique and amazing period of time we have and will continue to witness for the coming years. During this era, we are not only witnessing a
generation that even though is aging wants to live longer and better lives, but also a generation of growing youths that want to revolutionize all parts
of society. With this extraordinary mixture of people, the supply and demand of various products has grown exponentially. As Steve Cochrane, an
economist, tells the Forbes Magazine, "The baby boomers are fairly well off, and will be able to afford a fair amount of health care. And they're
going to spend on it" (Clark). Cochrane explains that the aging population is a benefit to all youths who are looking for jobs. Cochrane tells us that this
generation is one–of–a–kind because it is the first that wants to enjoy its "twilight" days and expand those days. In an interview with Jack Langley, a
senior citizen war veteran in Edison, New Jersey, who is about to enter retirement, Mr. Langley said, "Over the past fifty years, I have seen so much
new gadgets that everyone is using. My granddaughter showed me her Ipad a few days ago and I was amazed. So much you can do on that little
device" (Langley). Afterwards, Jack Langley reported that he was looking forward to retirement so that he can learn and use these spectacular
appliances for his own use. Just like Langley,

Technology's Effect on the Future Essay
I don't know what the future holds but I know who holds the future. Days go by and how time flies, seasons always changing. When we contemplate
the future we envision mind–warping technology and global warming destroying the Earth. Change is inevitable but it's up to our supremacy what we
and our planet Earth change into. Will we help or hinder our future survival? One sentence from America's Declaration of Independence has some
relevance to this matter. 'But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under
absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security'. In other words if

Even in our film industry we have movies and T.V. shows that use the thought of the future. For instance, the 1960 film ?TheTime Machine? written by
H.G. Wells, let one man from 1899AD, pass through a changing world. Here today, gone to tomorrow. A time machine was invented that whisks him
away from his own time to war–ravaged moments of the twentieth century (and a real future war for the ?60s with atomic satellites) and eventually
into the year 802701AD, where the Morlocks, a race of glow–eyed subterranean monsters have the Eloi, the future humans, as their prey. Some more
familiar shows include Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, Meet the Robinsons and Minority Report. It is fascinating how our ideas from the seven
percent usage of our brains have revolutionised the way we now live. The creation of the personal computer has now gone from custom made
processors into home use and film companies such as I.L.M (Industrial Light and Magic). This company was set up in 1975 by George Lucas creator
of Star Wars?. They were designed for special effects. Now thirty–two years on they can create almost lifelike beings on the computer using a method
called CGI (Computer Generated Imaging). The hits such as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Shrek, The Mummy Duo, The Matrix Trilogy and hundreds more
are the new kinds of films. Out of this world,

Technology in Society Technology has gone through a huge change throughout the years. It is constantly innovating and moving society towards new
explorations and is helping human life. Technology has given humanity better ways of communication, education, and transportation. Also, technology
has made a big impact in education, health, and in science fields with research and data. Even though technology has made such an impact in these
fields, there is also a downside in the technological advancement in the world. The question lies in the facts and the change that humanity has made
within time to benefit and better our world in the industrial technological time.
Surprisingly, technology can date back even further than when Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb, and even further than when the wheel was
invented. Generally speaking it is an idea that has been built on and furthered throughout history. Technology is more than just cell phones and
computers. It is the background history that leads up to where humanity is today. Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation
and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering,
applied science, and pure science ("Technology"). This means that humanity is not limited to certain things in life, and every individual has the chance
to break away, to look for new discoveries, and to make advances in different fields of study.
Over the years, society has had to adapt to new ages of technology. Since technology has benefited so much over the years, a great example would be in
education. Education has thrived with more people completing high school and going to college than in the 1900's. The big factors that contribute to
this are advances in technology. "Advances and popularization of the Internet and other electronic and online tools in the 1990s further developed the
potential of technology in teaching" ("Technology and Education"). In this particular area, technology makes it easier for the student to learn especially
with the benefits of online learning . It is more efficient to the environment, the teacher and student are able to communicate

The Prediction of the Future of Technology
THE PREDICTION OF THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY "The Machine Stops "is a science–fiction story written by E.M. Forster in 1909. The
story starts with a conversation between mother and son they lived on opposite sides of the world . The mother was named Vashti and her son was
named Kuno. The story portrays how the technological world will be like thousand years from now. The description of the setting sounds more like
what is happening in today. With Facebook twitter, Skype, WhatsApp and all the communication soft wares, a lot of people now do not have friends
that they physically go and visit, all they do is sit in the comfort of their homes and chat on Facebook or Skype relatives in the other side of the
world. Today people can sit in their homes and shop, work and even do online classes. Vashti is content with her life, which, like most people of that
world, she spends her time producing and ceaselessly discussing ideas. She sits in her room and give a lecture in Australian music. The Machine
substitutes everything. It satisfies human needs and can even control people's thoughts. The machine is Vashti's life, religion, and law. She does
everything with the machine. She listens to music through the machine, she doesn't go outside of her place. You can clearly notice that from the story
that Vashti is worshiping the machine. This to me is similar to the Defining the Web in the course reading, net identity. He starts the story with a phone

How Will Our Future Be? Essay
How Will Our Future Be?
The way the future is heading seems to be very clear but as before things may change. The time to come will never reveal itself until it has actually
been.
From this point of view I will try to describe the way I see the future coming our way.
One of the major aspects when discussing the future is how will the law be handled and how power will be dealt with. Will we be able to decide for us
self what we want to do with our lives and will the right of every individual be respected, as written in the constitution. There is no way I could be
forced to believe otherwise. Our society today is made to decide if every citizen in
Denmark should have some sort of card that you used for multiple things. Your...show more content...
The network is so fast you never experience the bottleneck when transferring data like in the old days. This is a major advantage for the large number
of people working from their own homes. They use a technology called net–meeting if they have to discuss some paperwork over the net. It is possible
to both look at your colleague in the video–chatter and at the same time write in the word– processor while the other person is watching and
commenting. The schools all over the world is using this technique to exchange information. There is also a separate net called cyber–net. This is even
more advanced than the other net. It is the ultimate cyber–space where you virtually can be anywhere on the entire planet, and you can even visit the
other planets in our solar system. This net is based on the sophisticated Virtual Reality Nirvana 3D technology. In spite of the wide spread of
computers in all the layers of society it is only the really big companies and their employees that takes VRN–3D into use. Imagine a world which is
like a movie where there only will be good things, No pain.
In this society year 2096, every one almost is living in the cities from where they control their daily function. Even the farmers live in the city. They
have given up the dirty work and started to maintain their acres and their stocks from computers. They have agents checking on the cattle 24 hours a

Technology: Past, Present, and Future
Remember the days of the Old West? The women walked around with their parasols or rode in a horse drawn carriage and the men rode fast and
furious on their horses. Everything you needed was right there in town: the saloon, the general store, and the barber. When one needed to get
somewhere, they would walk. If they needed to travel far, there were steam–powered locomotives. As towns and cities grew larger, it was not so
convenient to walk everywhere. There was a need for a machine that could get us around to where we had to go. Technology was becoming a bigger
part of the times and the machine we now know today as the automobile was invented.

Environmentalists would argue that cars "would eject large amounts of unpleasant gases into the air, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and
sulfur dioxide" (Wilson 304). Energy experts would be afraid of using to much fuel. In short, there would be a strong resistance to the thought of an
automobile being built.
Wilson argues that without cars, we would have to live very close together in apartments and row houses so that we could walk to public
transportation depots. He also says that we would miss seeing the beaches and the countryside except for an occasional glimpse from a bus or
train window. We would have city upon city. Still, the car haters tell us that with the use of bikes and public transportation we will have less
pollution, noise and our energy is used more efficiently. Well what about the benefits? Wilson states "The automobile is more flexible, more
punctual, supplies greater comfort, provides for carrying more parcels, creates more privacy, enables one to select fellow passengers, and, for
distances over a mile or more, requires less travel time" (308). So to those that reject the notion of an automobile, Wilson says, "The car does exist,
and has powerfully affected the living, working, and social spaces of America" (304).
Technology has come a long way since the first automobile was built. We now have Small cars and mid size cars. There are Sport Utility Vehicles, or

Technology In The Classroom : The Future
Technology in the Classroom: The Future is Now Each Year, schools are changing the way they educate by including more technology in the classroom.
While some teachers and parents are concerned about the rapid modernization of the classroom, many people believe it is the best way to help set up
students for future success. Modern technology belongs in the classroom because it gives students important technological experiences, increases
student interest, and has many useful tools. One of the benefits of technology in the classroom is that it gives students important technological
experiences that can help them in the future. According to the article "Laptops in Schools: Should Schools Give Students Laptop Computers to Help
With Their Classwork?" published by Infobase learning, "Schools supplied laptops to engage and assist students while supplying equal access to
technology. They also help students cultivate computer skills that will be useful once they enter the workforce." The article is stating that technology
in the classroom gives students good computer skills. The article also suggests, " Supporters of laptops in schools argue that they help bridge the
'digital divide' that separates students who have computers aid high–speed internet from those who do not"("Laptops in Schools..."). The supporters in
this source are claiming that laptops are preparing students for the workforces they will be entering once students are finished with school. According to

Technology Trends Essay
INTRODUCTION It seems that every year people turn increasingly toward living their lives through technology. It has inundated society, families,
jobs, and lives. Three developing trends that in some ways overlap each other are specifically related to living in a technology world. These trends are
particularly important to the school librarian because many students are living their lives through the web. In order to reach those students, the
librarian must be knowledgeable about the trends and applications and be able to use and apply them in a library setting. By using them, the librarian
makes the library relevant to students, and brings the library to students where the students are.
The first trend is social communication...show more content...
TREND ONE – SOCIAL COMMUNICATION Social communication is found on the web through blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant
messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations,
rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs,
which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in
order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can respond to the writer with a comment, and then the
blogger can post the comment for others to view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a topic,
recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini,
2008). Blogs are very applicable to the library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line book club.
The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0
world," 2007). Some of the more popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Micro–blogging is

Technology is one of the world's greatest developments, and it has impacted us all greatly. Most of us look at technology as a friend, and we grow
to have an attachment to it (Gonchar). In our generation, people would rather check their phones and their senseless apps than to socialize with
others face to face. Individuals all around the world own smartphones or computers, and they spend a great deal of their time using them, either
browsing social media or using the internet. In some ways, technology has made everyone connected; however, it also has disconnected us from
reality. As a teen myself, I understand the desire of technology and how it fulfills our boredom. However, it is disheartening to think that several
years into the future, this world could potentially be full of antisocial individuals. Often times, people would rather stay home and communicate
through social media than to actually talk to another human being (Gonchar). That is not something to be proud of. But in reality, we take our
phones/electronic device with us everywhere we go. Being on our devices all the time causes depression or makes us feel alone. We read about other
people's lives on a screen instead of living our own (Kachroo–Levine). Most people post about how they're feeling or what they're doing to give
themselves pleasure of being like everyone else doing the same. This could be causing people to be antisocial. One out of three people in the world
are antisocial and eighty–four

Yes: In the world we live in, technology is advancing everywhere from software to machines and even cooking utensils. Improvements to our lives, by
technology, include electricity, medical technology, fast productions and, Access to information and education. Without technology the world would be
different and it would leave us at a disadvantage. Imagine a world without internet where your teacher assigns you an essay to research nuclear fission.
Without the internet, you would have to go to a library to check out a book filled with every little aspect of anything similar to science. Now imagine
having to weed through page after page of the book until you found the slightest amount of information on nuclear fission. After that you have to use
that information and create an entire essay on just a few pages of information, without plagiarizing it. Wasted time and effort was put into the process,
whereas the internet would have been able to supply greater amounts of information in a fraction of the time. Proven by the scenario, technology
quickens production, but also advances information and education. The second most impacting example of how technology has benefited humans is
medical technology. The medical world has been largely affected by the development of machines including heart pacemakers, MRI machines and,
antibiotics. All of which is considered advanced technology. Statistically stated in an article, "In 1993, there were about 121,300 pacemaker

Recently, organizations and industries used to face many difficulties; doing certain office and business tasks, retrieving information and gaining
services while paying huge amounts of money. Nowadays, using up– to–date technologies and computing services can help solving severe problems
with a click of a button; one of the suggested solutions was designing a cloud full of services and resources. Energy efficiency is increasingly important
for future information and communication technologies (ICT), because the increased usage of ICT, together with increasing energy costs and the need
to reduce green house gas emissions call for energy–efficient technologies that decrease the overall energy consumption of computation, storage and
communications. After setting the cloud and its services and pool of resources; there was an increase in the demand on cloud computing services was
empowered as a result of embracing features like convenience and on–demand access to shared resources. Many computing services moved to the
cloud, and cloud computing had to scale–up dynamically to support new demands without losing quality of service. However; scale–up leads to more
energy consumption since it requires deploying new resources and as a result; there will be more environmental impact and carbon dioxide emissions.
Attention has received regarding the energy usage in a cloud computing model and there is recognition of the need to manage energy consumption

The Impact Of Technology On The Future
The evidence that Martin Ford provides for his thesis is all related to different industries, and how they will turn out to be in the future. First, he
discusses information technology, in which he tells the audience about Moore's Law (p. 58). He uses Moore's Law to describe the effect that
technology will have in the future on IT. Then, he goes on to discuss the risk that white–collar jobs face from automation. One aspect of his evidence is
"Quill", which is a technology that is used by media outlets to produce articles about various subjects including, sports, business and politics (pp.
72–73). This helps him explain the idea of advanced technology being able to replace jobs that require some amount of human intelligence. The next

will take over jobs. In addition, the graphs and charts that are provided allow the reader to better understand the concepts through a visual aid. The
weakness in the evidence that the author provides is related to the fact that a lot of the evidence is anecdotal and not factual. A book on technology
should have many statistics and facts, as it will strengthen the thesis. This is true, as the technology industry is all about the numbers and facts. In
addition, anecdotal evidence is a good buffer or introduction for people who don't know about technology, as it allows for them to connect to the topic.
However, more concrete statistics should have been provided to make the thesis even stronger. All in all, the author did a good job supporting his
thesis. The anecdotal evidence was a little too much, however the facts, statistics, graphs and charts helped balance out the strength of the thesis. One
error that I found within the book was the lack of primary sources used by the author. Even though it would be hard for the author to do primary
research, some of the statistics that were not showing progress from many years ago, could have been researched through interviews, case studies, or
other primary research methods. This would have allowed the reader to see that the author was determined to prove his point, so much so,

Information Technology
Information Technology is a developing technology that aims at obtaining the maximum information with minimum of resources, labor or time.
According to the dictionary, Information Technology is "the study or use of electronic equipment especially computers, for storing, analysing and
distribution of information of all kinds, including words, numbers and pictures."
Ever since the appearance of Man on the earth, information has been the major cause of his progress and development. But information alone is not
enough. Information has to be processed, put to use by logic and reason before it becomes useful knowledge.
Information Technology includes and encompasses within itself the whole technological, social and cultural phenomena that promise an excellent
future for mankind. The 21st century is a century of Information Technology. Just as steam engine emerged to be the technology of the 19th century and
computer technology enhanced the capacity of human brain in the 20th century, Information Technology is the in–thing in the 21 century.
The technological progress during the past sixty years has brought about an explosion in knowledge. Today we have super computers imitating the
human brain and even beating it in various fields like fast data processing, huge memory storage and quick retrieval capacity. These super computers
can do as much as Terra (10) floating point operations per second (FLOPS) and have a 128 bit word length. The personal

My Vision for the Future of Science and Technology
If our ancestors from the days of yore could see some of today's innovations, they would proclaim them to be magic. The Congress of Future Science
and Technology Leaders exposed me to such innovations and, in the process, to much of the STEM field. I now have a deeper understanding of a
broad range of recent scientific and technological advances, and the challenges and opportunities they create. As a result, I have an idea of where I
might someday fit into the research field.
The speakers at the congress placed the majority of their focuses on health, technological innovation, and astrophysics. On the subject of health I
learned, among other things, about the detection and treatment of cancer, and different means by which technology aids human health. Several speakers
have made significant contributions toward the effort to eradicate cancer. Nineteen–year–old Jack Andraka created a method of detecting cancer that
costs just $0.03, and Robert Langer, an award–winning chemist, invented nanospheres capable of distributing medications made up of
macromolecules. Neither development was begotten with ease, however. When questioned, Langer said, "I believed in my ideas and I guess that's
how I got through it." Rana el Kaliouby utilizes technology to help people. Her company, Affectiva, created software able to detect the emotions in

therapies to improve our cells, and will ultimately be able to replace damaged organs such as the liver and pancreas" (Kurzweil 556). These types of
medical advances could very well change the world for the better, especially for people and families who are directly affected by diseases as deadly as
cancer and illnesses as exasperating and deadly as diabetes.
Also, these medical advancements will greatly affect the career world. For example, any person who hopes and plans to have a future in the
medical world, might someday be out of a job. If diseases are stopped instantly by nanobots, then what jobs will be left for doctors? I do not want to

fix any minor ailment in the body, including anything in the muscle and bones. If this happens to be true, I might have to change my major or perhaps,
become a nanotherapist!
While nanobots seem to be very beneficial to human survival, they can also be quite terrifying. Ray Kurzweil tells us that by the year 2030,

Technology Is Changing The Way We Live
Technology is changing the way we live as humans and it will continue to. It changes the way we understand our surroundings and how we interact as
humans with one another. It influences our modern life in many ways and as it keeps advancing many are wondering if we can keep up. These effects
are positive, negative or sometimes even both. Technology impacts everything, but it has a large impact on the future of the environment, education, our
health and jobs. The future of technology is moving at an electric rate; it has our communities wondering if we can keep up. Technological
advancements rapidly growing can leave society in a difficult place that could potentially destroy the world and leave us spinning with answers. We
as a world have achieved a lot regarding technology and it will continue to shape the future. Regardless of the positives, negatives or what becomes of
it, they are all part of the technological world and we have no choice, but to keep learning.
Technology impacts the environment in many ways because they depend on each other, but most of the impacts are negative. The first impact are the
dangers of pollution because the products used to produce Information Technology Equipment. Chowdhury and Shanmugan state "only two percent of

Technology And Its Harm To future Generations Will the usage of computers in a classroom setting result in adverse effects on young future
generations? No doubt, for years has this been an ongoing argument concerning the educational system. Because computer use is promoted in schools,
and because computers are so ubiquitous, children have a great deal of exposure to them. Not everyone, however, is comfortable with the use of
computers by young children. Educators, Professors, Parents, and School Board affiliates have each developed their own thoughts, opinions and
concerns concerning this matter. Professor David Gelernter's published article "Computers Cannot Teach Children Basic Skills" warrants concern of

In addition, Gelernter attests the important consideration of the significant costs involved in providing computers in classrooms. However Gelernter
does not insinuate that computer usage should be completely banned from the classrooms, but it should be closely monitored. Safety is an increasing
concern in today's modern world, because the access of computers within a classroom is more attainable moreover children have a higher risk of
encountering dangerous activities on the internet. Because today PowerPoint presentations have become more common in schools clearly, then students
are more prone to the usage of the internet. Students in the primary and middle years do not need to use computers to the same degree as those in the
senior years. A child at such a young age is unaware of the dangers that the internet holds. Outside solicitation, Pornographic and unwanted material are
examples of dangerous activities on the internet. The possibility that children will be solicited by outside, nefarious people is a growing and terrifying
concern. Chat rooms and social networking tools, such as Facebook or MySpace, are a breeding ground for unwanted solicitations. The Internet is an
abundant resource for knowledge and entertainment. Movies, music, and information are at the click of a mouse. Unfortunately, a large amount of

How Technology Will Shape Our Future Jobs and Lives Essay

  • 1. How Technology Will Affect Future Jobs Essay "One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man" (Hubbard 151). Elbert Hubbard, an American writer and the founder of Roycroft Artisan community, predicted the future with his epigram. His maxim would resonate for years to come and would be seen in the future job markets. For thousands of years, technology has fundamentally changed the way we live and interact with our environment. It has brought us from the Stone Age to the Industrial Revolution. It has taken us from the creation of the computer to the landing on the moon. Not only has technology affected the old, but also it has affected the youth. For the old and aged, modern technological innovations have brought about longer...show more content... A unique and amazing period of time we have and will continue to witness for the coming years. During this era, we are not only witnessing a generation that even though is aging wants to live longer and better lives, but also a generation of growing youths that want to revolutionize all parts of society. With this extraordinary mixture of people, the supply and demand of various products has grown exponentially. As Steve Cochrane, an economist, tells the Forbes Magazine, "The baby boomers are fairly well off, and will be able to afford a fair amount of health care. And they're going to spend on it" (Clark). Cochrane explains that the aging population is a benefit to all youths who are looking for jobs. Cochrane tells us that this generation is one–of–a–kind because it is the first that wants to enjoy its "twilight" days and expand those days. In an interview with Jack Langley, a senior citizen war veteran in Edison, New Jersey, who is about to enter retirement, Mr. Langley said, "Over the past fifty years, I have seen so much new gadgets that everyone is using. My granddaughter showed me her Ipad a few days ago and I was amazed. So much you can do on that little device" (Langley). Afterwards, Jack Langley reported that he was looking forward to retirement so that he can learn and use these spectacular appliances for his own use. Just like Langley, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Technology's Effect on the Future Essay I don't know what the future holds but I know who holds the future. Days go by and how time flies, seasons always changing. When we contemplate the future we envision mind–warping technology and global warming destroying the Earth. Change is inevitable but it's up to our supremacy what we and our planet Earth change into. Will we help or hinder our future survival? One sentence from America's Declaration of Independence has some relevance to this matter. 'But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security'. In other words if ...show more content... Even in our film industry we have movies and T.V. shows that use the thought of the future. For instance, the 1960 film ?TheTime Machine? written by H.G. Wells, let one man from 1899AD, pass through a changing world. Here today, gone to tomorrow. A time machine was invented that whisks him away from his own time to war–ravaged moments of the twentieth century (and a real future war for the ?60s with atomic satellites) and eventually into the year 802701AD, where the Morlocks, a race of glow–eyed subterranean monsters have the Eloi, the future humans, as their prey. Some more familiar shows include Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, Meet the Robinsons and Minority Report. It is fascinating how our ideas from the seven percent usage of our brains have revolutionised the way we now live. The creation of the personal computer has now gone from custom made processors into home use and film companies such as I.L.M (Industrial Light and Magic). This company was set up in 1975 by George Lucas creator of Star Wars?. They were designed for special effects. Now thirty–two years on they can create almost lifelike beings on the computer using a method called CGI (Computer Generated Imaging). The hits such as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Shrek, The Mummy Duo, The Matrix Trilogy and hundreds more are the new kinds of films. Out of this world, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Technology in Society Technology has gone through a huge change throughout the years. It is constantly innovating and moving society towards new explorations and is helping human life. Technology has given humanity better ways of communication, education, and transportation. Also, technology has made a big impact in education, health, and in science fields with research and data. Even though technology has made such an impact in these fields, there is also a downside in the technological advancement in the world. The question lies in the facts and the change that humanity has made within time to benefit and better our world in the industrial technological time. Surprisingly, technology can date back even further than when Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb, and even further than when the wheel was invented. Generally speaking it is an idea that has been built on and furthered throughout history. Technology is more than just cell phones and computers. It is the background history that leads up to where humanity is today. Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science ("Technology"). This means that humanity is not limited to certain things in life, and every individual has the chance to break away, to look for new discoveries, and to make advances in different fields of study. Over the years, society has had to adapt to new ages of technology. Since technology has benefited so much over the years, a great example would be in education. Education has thrived with more people completing high school and going to college than in the 1900's. The big factors that contribute to this are advances in technology. "Advances and popularization of the Internet and other electronic and online tools in the 1990s further developed the potential of technology in teaching" ("Technology and Education"). In this particular area, technology makes it easier for the student to learn especially with the benefits of online learning . It is more efficient to the environment, the teacher and student are able to communicate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Prediction of the Future of Technology THE PREDICTION OF THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY "The Machine Stops "is a science–fiction story written by E.M. Forster in 1909. The story starts with a conversation between mother and son they lived on opposite sides of the world . The mother was named Vashti and her son was named Kuno. The story portrays how the technological world will be like thousand years from now. The description of the setting sounds more like what is happening in today. With Facebook twitter, Skype, WhatsApp and all the communication soft wares, a lot of people now do not have friends that they physically go and visit, all they do is sit in the comfort of their homes and chat on Facebook or Skype relatives in the other side of the world. Today people can sit in their homes and shop, work and even do online classes. Vashti is content with her life, which, like most people of that world, she spends her time producing and ceaselessly discussing ideas. She sits in her room and give a lecture in Australian music. The Machine substitutes everything. It satisfies human needs and can even control people's thoughts. The machine is Vashti's life, religion, and law. She does everything with the machine. She listens to music through the machine, she doesn't go outside of her place. You can clearly notice that from the story that Vashti is worshiping the machine. This to me is similar to the Defining the Web in the course reading, net identity. He starts the story with a phone call from Kuno to his mother. He is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. How Will Our Future Be? Essay How Will Our Future Be? The way the future is heading seems to be very clear but as before things may change. The time to come will never reveal itself until it has actually been. From this point of view I will try to describe the way I see the future coming our way. One of the major aspects when discussing the future is how will the law be handled and how power will be dealt with. Will we be able to decide for us self what we want to do with our lives and will the right of every individual be respected, as written in the constitution. There is no way I could be forced to believe otherwise. Our society today is made to decide if every citizen in Denmark should have some sort of card that you used for multiple things. Your...show more content... The network is so fast you never experience the bottleneck when transferring data like in the old days. This is a major advantage for the large number of people working from their own homes. They use a technology called net–meeting if they have to discuss some paperwork over the net. It is possible to both look at your colleague in the video–chatter and at the same time write in the word– processor while the other person is watching and commenting. The schools all over the world is using this technique to exchange information. There is also a separate net called cyber–net. This is even more advanced than the other net. It is the ultimate cyber–space where you virtually can be anywhere on the entire planet, and you can even visit the other planets in our solar system. This net is based on the sophisticated Virtual Reality Nirvana 3D technology. In spite of the wide spread of computers in all the layers of society it is only the really big companies and their employees that takes VRN–3D into use. Imagine a world which is like a movie where there only will be good things, No pain. In this society year 2096, every one almost is living in the cities from where they control their daily function. Even the farmers live in the city. They have given up the dirty work and started to maintain their acres and their stocks from computers. They have agents checking on the cattle 24 hours a day. They do this by a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Technology: Past, Present, and Future Remember the days of the Old West? The women walked around with their parasols or rode in a horse drawn carriage and the men rode fast and furious on their horses. Everything you needed was right there in town: the saloon, the general store, and the barber. When one needed to get somewhere, they would walk. If they needed to travel far, there were steam–powered locomotives. As towns and cities grew larger, it was not so convenient to walk everywhere. There was a need for a machine that could get us around to where we had to go. Technology was becoming a bigger part of the times and the machine we now know today as the automobile was invented. Millions of people throughout the world depend on...show more content... Environmentalists would argue that cars "would eject large amounts of unpleasant gases into the air, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide" (Wilson 304). Energy experts would be afraid of using to much fuel. In short, there would be a strong resistance to the thought of an automobile being built. Wilson argues that without cars, we would have to live very close together in apartments and row houses so that we could walk to public transportation depots. He also says that we would miss seeing the beaches and the countryside except for an occasional glimpse from a bus or train window. We would have city upon city. Still, the car haters tell us that with the use of bikes and public transportation we will have less pollution, noise and our energy is used more efficiently. Well what about the benefits? Wilson states "The automobile is more flexible, more punctual, supplies greater comfort, provides for carrying more parcels, creates more privacy, enables one to select fellow passengers, and, for distances over a mile or more, requires less travel time" (308). So to those that reject the notion of an automobile, Wilson says, "The car does exist, and has powerfully affected the living, working, and social spaces of America" (304). Technology has come a long way since the first automobile was built. We now have Small cars and mid size cars. There are Sport Utility Vehicles, or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Technology In The Classroom : The Future Technology in the Classroom: The Future is Now Each Year, schools are changing the way they educate by including more technology in the classroom. While some teachers and parents are concerned about the rapid modernization of the classroom, many people believe it is the best way to help set up students for future success. Modern technology belongs in the classroom because it gives students important technological experiences, increases student interest, and has many useful tools. One of the benefits of technology in the classroom is that it gives students important technological experiences that can help them in the future. According to the article "Laptops in Schools: Should Schools Give Students Laptop Computers to Help With Their Classwork?" published by Infobase learning, "Schools supplied laptops to engage and assist students while supplying equal access to technology. They also help students cultivate computer skills that will be useful once they enter the workforce." The article is stating that technology in the classroom gives students good computer skills. The article also suggests, " Supporters of laptops in schools argue that they help bridge the 'digital divide' that separates students who have computers aid high–speed internet from those who do not"("Laptops in Schools..."). The supporters in this source are claiming that laptops are preparing students for the workforces they will be entering once students are finished with school. • 8. Technology Trends Essay INTRODUCTION It seems that every year people turn increasingly toward living their lives through technology. It has inundated society, families, jobs, and lives. Three developing trends that in some ways overlap each other are specifically related to living in a technology world. These trends are particularly important to the school librarian because many students are living their lives through the web. In order to reach those students, the librarian must be knowledgeable about the trends and applications and be able to use and apply them in a library setting. By using them, the librarian makes the library relevant to students, and brings the library to students where the students are. The first trend is social communication...show more content... TREND ONE – SOCIAL COMMUNICATION Social communication is found on the web through blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations, rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs, which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can respond to the writer with a comment, and then the blogger can post the comment for others to view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a topic, recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Blogs are very applicable to the library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line book club. The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0 world," 2007). Some of the more popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Micro–blogging is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Technology is one of the world's greatest developments, and it has impacted us all greatly. Most of us look at technology as a friend, and we grow to have an attachment to it (Gonchar). In our generation, people would rather check their phones and their senseless apps than to socialize with others face to face. Individuals all around the world own smartphones or computers, and they spend a great deal of their time using them, either browsing social media or using the internet. In some ways, technology has made everyone connected; however, it also has disconnected us from reality. As a teen myself, I understand the desire of technology and how it fulfills our boredom. However, it is disheartening to think that several years into the future, this world could potentially be full of antisocial individuals. Often times, people would rather stay home and communicate through social media than to actually talk to another human being (Gonchar). That is not something to be proud of. But in reality, we take our phones/electronic device with us everywhere we go. Being on our devices all the time causes depression or makes us feel alone. We read about other people's lives on a screen instead of living our own (Kachroo–Levine). Most people post about how they're feeling or what they're doing to give themselves pleasure of being like everyone else doing the same. This could be causing people to be antisocial. Improvements to our lives, by technology, include electricity, medical technology, fast productions and, Access to information and education. Without technology the world would be different and it would leave us at a disadvantage. Imagine a world without internet where your teacher assigns you an essay to research nuclear fission. Without the internet, you would have to go to a library to check out a book filled with every little aspect of anything similar to science. Now imagine having to weed through page after page of the book until you found the slightest amount of information on nuclear fission. After that you have to use that information and create an entire essay on just a few pages of information, without plagiarizing it. Wasted time and effort was put into the process, whereas the internet would have been able to supply greater amounts of information in a fraction of the time. Proven by the scenario, technology quickens production, but also advances information and education. The second most impacting example of how technology has benefited humans is medical technology. The medical world has been largely affected by the development of machines including heart pacemakers, MRI machines and, antibiotics. All of which is considered advanced technology. Statistically stated in an article, "In 1993, there were about 121,300 pacemaker implantations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Recently, organizations and industries used to face many difficulties; doing certain office and business tasks, retrieving information and gaining services while paying huge amounts of money. Nowadays, using up– to–date technologies and computing services can help solving severe problems with a click of a button; one of the suggested solutions was designing a cloud full of services and resources. Energy efficiency is increasingly important for future information and communication technologies (ICT), because the increased usage of ICT, together with increasing energy costs and the need to reduce green house gas emissions call for energy–efficient technologies that decrease the overall energy consumption of computation, storage and communications. After setting the cloud and its services and pool of resources; there was an increase in the demand on cloud computing services was empowered as a result of embracing features like convenience and on–demand access to shared resources. Many computing services moved to the cloud, and cloud computing had to scale–up dynamically to support new demands without losing quality of service. However; scale–up leads to more energy consumption since it requires deploying new resources and as a result; there will be more environmental impact and carbon dioxide emissions. Attention has received regarding the energy usage in a cloud computing model and there is recognition of the need to manage energy consumption across the entire information Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Impact Of Technology On The Future The evidence that Martin Ford provides for his thesis is all related to different industries, and how they will turn out to be in the future. First, he discusses information technology, in which he tells the audience about Moore's Law (p. 58). He uses Moore's Law to describe the effect that technology will have in the future on IT. Then, he goes on to discuss the risk that white–collar jobs face from automation. One aspect of his evidence is "Quill", which is a technology that is used by media outlets to produce articles about various subjects including, sports, business and politics (pp. 72–73). This helps him explain the idea of advanced technology being able to replace jobs that require some amount of human intelligence. The next main...show more content... They allow the reader to be able to relate and connect to the content, which in return allows the reader to understand how technology and automation will take over jobs. In addition, the graphs and charts that are provided allow the reader to better understand the concepts through a visual aid. The weakness in the evidence that the author provides is related to the fact that a lot of the evidence is anecdotal and not factual. A book on technology should have many statistics and facts, as it will strengthen the thesis. This is true, as the technology industry is all about the numbers and facts. In addition, anecdotal evidence is a good buffer or introduction for people who don't know about technology, as it allows for them to connect to the topic. However, more concrete statistics should have been provided to make the thesis even stronger. All in all, the author did a good job supporting his thesis. The anecdotal evidence was a little too much, however the facts, statistics, graphs and charts helped balance out the strength of the thesis. One error that I found within the book was the lack of primary sources used by the author. Even though it would be hard for the author to do primary research, some of the statistics that were not showing progress from many years ago, could have been researched through interviews, case studies, or other primary research methods. This would have allowed the reader to see that the author was determined to prove his point, so much so, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Information Technology Information Technology is a developing technology that aims at obtaining the maximum information with minimum of resources, labor or time. According to the dictionary, Information Technology is "the study or use of electronic equipment especially computers, for storing, analysing and distribution of information of all kinds, including words, numbers and pictures." Ever since the appearance of Man on the earth, information has been the major cause of his progress and development. But information alone is not enough. Information has to be processed, put to use by logic and reason before it becomes useful knowledge. Information Technology includes and encompasses within itself the whole technological, social and cultural phenomena that promise an excellent future for mankind. The 21st century is a century of Information Technology. Just as steam engine emerged to be the technology of the 19th century and computer technology enhanced the capacity of human brain in the 20th century, Information Technology is the in–thing in the 21 century. The technological progress during the past sixty years has brought about an explosion in knowledge. Today we have super computers imitating the human brain and even beating it in various fields like fast data processing, huge memory storage and quick retrieval capacity. These super computers can do as much as Terra (10) floating point operations per second (FLOPS) and have a 128 bit word length. The personal Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. My Vision for the Future of Science and Technology If our ancestors from the days of yore could see some of today's innovations, they would proclaim them to be magic. The Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders exposed me to such innovations and, in the process, to much of the STEM field. I now have a deeper understanding of a broad range of recent scientific and technological advances, and the challenges and opportunities they create. As a result, I have an idea of where I might someday fit into the research field. The speakers at the congress placed the majority of their focuses on health, technological innovation, and astrophysics. On the subject of health I learned, among other things, about the detection and treatment of cancer, and different means by which technology aids human health. Several speakers have made significant contributions toward the effort to eradicate cancer. Nineteen–year–old Jack Andraka created a method of detecting cancer that costs just $0.03, and Robert Langer, an award–winning chemist, invented nanospheres capable of distributing medications made up of macromolecules. Neither development was begotten with ease, however. When questioned, Langer said, "I believed in my ideas and I guess that's how I got through it." Essay on Nanotechnology and the Future Nanotechnology and the Future In an earth that is full of cell phones, laptops, PC's, palm pilots, flat screen televisions, I–pods, EZ pass, and many other gizmos and gadgets, it is hard to imagine our universe becoming even more high–tech. Many people could not make it through a week, or even a couple of days without a cell phone, car, or television. To make our world even more complicated, the continuous emergence ofnanotechnology is creeping upon us, and it will affect out lives whether we want it to or not. Ray Kurzweil in "Nanotechnology: Reinventing Our Cells," says that in the future nanobots will be able to "design genetic therapies to improve our cells, and will ultimately be able to replace damaged organs such as the liver and pancreas" (Kurzweil 556). These types of medical advances could very well change the world for the better, especially for people and families who are directly affected by diseases as deadly as cancer and illnesses as exasperating and deadly as diabetes. Also, these medical advancements will greatly affect the career world. For example, any person who hopes and plans to have a future in the medical world, might someday be out of a job. If diseases are stopped instantly by nanobots, then what jobs will be left for doctors? I do not want to be a doctor, however, I am on a track to become a physical therapist and at the rate these nanobots are going, they may eventually evolve to be able to fix any minor ailment in the body, including anything in the muscle and bones. If this happens to be true, I might have to change my major or perhaps, become a nanotherapist! While nanobots seem to be very beneficial to human survival, they can also be quite terrifying. • 19. Technology And Its Harm To future Generations Will the usage of computers in a classroom setting result in adverse effects on young future generations? No doubt, for years has this been an ongoing argument concerning the educational system. Because computer use is promoted in schools, and because computers are so ubiquitous, children have a great deal of exposure to them. Not everyone, however, is comfortable with the use of computers by young children. Educators, Professors, Parents, and School Board affiliates have each developed their own thoughts, opinions and concerns concerning this matter. Professor David Gelernter's published article "Computers Cannot Teach Children Basic Skills" warrants concern of the use of computers in a...show more content... In addition, Gelernter attests the important consideration of the significant costs involved in providing computers in classrooms. However Gelernter does not insinuate that computer usage should be completely banned from the classrooms, but it should be closely monitored. Safety is an increasing concern in today's modern world, because the access of computers within a classroom is more attainable moreover children have a higher risk of encountering dangerous activities on the internet. Because today PowerPoint presentations have become more common in schools clearly, then students are more prone to the usage of the internet. Students in the primary and middle years do not need to use computers to the same degree as those in the senior years. A child at such a young age is unaware of the dangers that the internet holds. Outside solicitation, Pornographic and unwanted material are examples of dangerous activities on the internet. The possibility that children will be solicited by outside, nefarious people is a growing and terrifying concern. Chat rooms and social networking tools, such as Facebook or MySpace, are a breeding ground for unwanted solicitations. The Internet is an abundant resource for knowledge and entertainment.
