Julius Caesar Betrayal
The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies. It comes from friends and loved ones. It doesn't seem to be right that close
friends or even family would be the ones to turn on you. Instead that it would be enemies or people that you don't even know, but that is untrue. You
cannot trust anyone. In the story The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, you can find that the ones who backstab each other are ones who were extremely close
or even related. It's very wrong and uncalled for yet people still do it. All over the world, since ancient times through this day, it would appear that
people you would consider to be close to you wouldn't turn on you but in reality they will be the first to turn on you, as this happens in The Tragedy

It started by them getting in many arguments, fighting and ending up turning on each other after Caesar's death. They were arguing over nothing and
becoming more and more upset with each other after the littlest things. Cassius says to Brutus, "You wrong me every way; you wrong me Brutus. I
said elder soldier, not a better, did I say better" (889)? They keep changing each other's words and fighting. Everything one of them says, turns into the
opposite of what they actually said. They ended up turning on each other because of a meaningless

Betrayal In Relationships
This article investigates how betrayal in relationships does not always mean the end of them. Not only are social exchange theories tested, but also the
inclusion of the uncertainty reduction theory to identify and predict the likelihood for the relational outcomes due to betrayal. Participants were told to
report an instance of betrayal. The results to maintaining relational satisfaction post–betrayal were connected to associated with relational continuance.
The findings were generally consistent with both social exchange and uncertainty reduction predictions. The more profitable and satisfying a
relationship prior to a betrayal, the more likely the relationship will be to survive a transgression. Continuance in a relationship is usually

Essay about Betrayal In George Orwell's 1984
Authors often use their works as a way to express their own opinions and ideologies. However, it is the skill of the author that determines whether
these ideas are combined with the plot seamlessly, making a creative transition of ideas from the author's mind, to the reader's. There is no doubt
that George Orwell is a masterful writer, and one of his most popular works, 1984, clearly expresses his negative views of the Totalitarian
government. A common theme in the dystopian society in 1984 is betrayal: The Party is very intolerant towards any form of disloyalty, and anyone
who plots against them or Big Brother will eventually either betray their own mind and accept Big Brother as their leader, or be betrayed and revealed
to The Party by...show more content...
This friendless situation makes Winston and Julia desperate for allies, also explaining why they are so eager to trust O'Brien and Mr. Charrington at
first, both of which turning out to be more dangerous than the people they work with in the Ministry of Truth. This betrayal reinforces the fact that
no one can be trusted, that they have no allies, and that they are alone against an army of double thinkers. In 1984, the ultimate form of betrayal is
introduced when The Party causes Winston to betray his own mind and accept their views, and love Big Brother. It the beginning, Winston stresses
the importance of keeping your own thoughts, in a world where other opinions and alternate accounts of past events are being forced upon the
population. Winston points out that "Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimetres inside your skull." and thoughts like this become
important to the reader, who, as Winston does, believes that they are safe in his head as a facet of his character (Orwell 29). However, the torture in
the Ministry of Love gets to Winston, and he begins to lose his individual opinions. O'Brien systematically removes all rebellious thoughts in
Winston's mind, replacing them with the ideology of The Party. In doing so, it is as if they are killing a character. When Winston is released he
behaves like a new character altogether, he loses the battle with himself and betrays his original opinions against The Party. In using self–betrayal to

A Brief Note On ' Betrayal And Trust ' Essay
Betrayal and trust During adolescence, teenagers want to become independent and often times do not tell their parents where they are off to in the
evening. They leave their parents in the dust, who await their arrival in the night if it is past curfew. Teenagers make irresponsible decisions because
their pre–frontal cortex is not fully developed. Neuroscientists have determined that the orbitofrontal and anterior cingulate cortex in our brains
regulates our choices (Nauert, 2011). There is a 60% difference between drug use among children of intact families and children of drug users
(Black, 2016). Divorce leads to disaster and the numbers are parallel there as well. It is incredible how a parent can condone children easily if they
are honest. David states, "I am packing an overnight bag for him and look for a sweater in his backpack. I do not find the sweater, but instead
discover a small bag of marijuana" (56). Parents can never really tell where their teenager is off to, because they lie, and the naive parents bite the
bait. The bag of marijuana is a metaphor for a can of worms because once Nic is exposed to marijuana, it leads him to try more drugs as he grows
up. Later in the book, Nic later confesses to David that his initial exposure to drugs was alcohol when he was alone in the house and with friends
from high school at the time. "Each new betrayal brings with it a new eruption of emotions" (199) because trust is built over a lifetime and it can be

Betrayal in the Great Gatsby Essay
Betrayal in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. It is recognized as the
"Great American Novel" as it shows great wealth, partying, jazz music and many other aspects of the "American Dream". In his novel, he displays a
lot of symbols, and themes including wealth, greed, and the most vivid, betrayal. Betrayal can upset many people and ruin many people. Betrayal was
demonstrated throughout the entire novel with a lot of connections. Three situations will be examined, and they will be: Gatsby betrayed by Daisy,
Tom cheats on Daisy with Myrtle and no one attends Gatsby's funeral. The entrance of betrayal in the novel comes from Tom Buchanan's love affair

the kitchen table... He was talking intently across the table at her, and in his earnestness his hand had fallen upon and covered her own. Once in a

George Wilson, manipulated by Tom, kills Gatsby to seek justice. News spread about Gatsby's death which caused a lot of traffic at his house;
they weren't people that knew him from a personal level, but were journalists, photographers, police officers and other media positions. Everyone
except Nick believed Gatsby was the killer of Myrtle and Wilson was "deranged by grief" (Fitzgerald, 164). Further investigation ended and then the
funeral took place. Gatsby's body demanded Nick to call everyone that regularly attended the party to join him as he couldn't do it alone: "Look here,

How To Write A Betrayal Essay
Betrayal may be the key to helping oneself. A person may betray its family, culture, or tribe and sometimes it may be all three. If a person betrayed
something that had a negative effect on them they may be awarded friends, respect, and support. Junior in Sherman Alexie's novel The Absolutely True
Diary of a Part–Time Indian was awarded all three. Junior is a Spokane Indian that left his Reservation school for a richer and better school called
Reardan. Junior let down his tribe, family, and culture when he left to go to Reardan, but he gained more friends, support, and respect. While he was
attending Reardan he was more respected by his peers. The betrayal positively effected Junior because of the friends, support, and respect that he
gained. Junior is treated better at Reardan than at the Reservation. People that attend the Reservation made fun of him and beat him up, but when he
was at Reardan Junior established dominance and was no longer made fun of. Junior said how he "punched...show more content...

What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay
To someone I loved,
There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren't any physical marks for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and
actions of those close to me. There was a quote I saw that said, "The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe
were loyal." That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought were loyal. It's hard for me to trust anyone, but
the pain should wear off in the night. By morning, I'll forget there was ever pain in the first place.
I had been hurt before but this time around, the pain was different. It came with a sense of endangerment. I had a feeling something bad would happen
as the pain diminished each day. So...show more content...
Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball struck me in the area where many before me had been
hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief because I couldn't trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was
someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn't crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you.
You didn't directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn't admit I has fallen inlove with you. I
was putting an unnecessary weight on my shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn't kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn't dead yet.
Theoretically speaking, I could've openly admitted to loving you and the weight could've been removed.
Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I
couldn't fall in love. I absolutely couldn't fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me. Although
it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the hammering in my head. You broke my heart without
intentionally doing. You broke my heart without even knowing

Examples Of Betrayal In Julius Caesar
Is betrayal moral or immoral? In the Passage Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, both Brutus and Cassius betrays their best friend Caesar. Even
though they both planned the death of Caesar, they both did it for a different reason. This could be one of the reasons why they both died in a
different way. William Shakespeare uses the downfall of Brutus and Cassius to how that betrayal is immoral. Brutus was one of Caesar best friends
but he still killed Caesar because he thought it would be good for Rome. Even though he thought it was for the good of Rome, he still paid the price
for betraying his best friend. The start of his downfall is when he has leave Rome because of Antony speech in act 3 scene 2. His downfall ultimately

Theme Of Betrayal, Revenge, And Forgiveness
Themes in the Tempest Trust is one of the hardest things to acquire, but fairly easy to lose. Putting ones trust into the wrong person could even lead
to deception and regret. In the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare, we witness as Prospero makes that grave mistake of putting his trust into
his brother, Antonio. After being betrayed by his own flesh the only thing that was on Prospero's mind was revenge. However, later on in the play he
realizes that revenge is not always the best option and forgiveness can go long way. In this essay I will discuss how William Shakespeare ingeniously
demonstrates the theme of betrayal, revenge, and forgiveness throughout The Tempest. Prospero, who was the Duke of Milan, was more interested in
his magic books then his nobility. He was too distracted to notice that his brother, along with the King of Naples, Alonso, had begun conspiring
against him. Prospero who would have never expected this defiance from his brother states, "The creatures that were mine, I say or changed 'em, / Or
else new formed 'em having both the key / Of officer and office" (The Tempest 1.2.101–103). Unlike Antonio, Prospero considered their blood bond to
be significant, trusting that he will always remain loyal to him. Unfortunately, he made a critical mistake as he let Antonio make the proper
acquaintances, learn all the political tricks, and acquire their full support, while he stayed out practicing magic. Antonio had everyone under his control

Infidelity, unfaithfulness, and modesty outline the surface of the play Betrayal written by Harold Pinter. From afar the relationships between the trio of
characters seems normal but; when taking a deeper look, the correlations are noticeably dysfunctional. The three main characters, Emma, Jerry and
Robert interact kindly, never seem to interrupt one another, ask innocent questions and do not, generally, inspect over much the answers. They help
each other over the occasional awkward moments and talk when necessary. But these characters rejoice when knowing something that someone else
does not and that knowledge is sometimes translated into power. Though it takes time, sometimes even years to breach things under the surface

meeting with Jerry she constantly needs to be reassured of his love. At the beginning of the play in Spring 1977 where Emma and Jerry are sharing
drinks at the pub, she is very emotional. Her feelings for Jerry during this scene are evident as she asks, "Ever think of me?" and "You think of me
sometimes?" (Pinter 17). Her insecurity and low self–esteem shines brightly in this encounter with her ex–lover. During that first scene Emma
confesses to Jerry that Robert has been cheating on her and that "he's had other women for years." (Pinter 25) Yet she insists on feeling hurt and does
not feel guilty for her mirrored actions. In scene 4, when Jerry comes to visit Robert and Emma at their house, upon leaving Emma breaks away and
cries quietly on Robert's shoulder. She seems overwhelmed with all of the interactions. At this point in the play Robert knows of Jerry and Emma'saffair
but Jerry has no idea that he is aware. Emma is most likely weighed down by the lies and feels besieged with all of the secrets surrounding her.
Slowly we see a once strong woman turn into a weak and unhappy person. Initially displeased with her marriage, she now has lost her lover as well as
getting a divorce with her husband. When you compare the Emma from

Love, Loss, And Betrayal Essay
Love, Loss, and Betrayal
I can feel myself slipping, falling into the dark abyss. My mind whirls as I listen to a cacophony of noise rush around me. Then I feel the frigid
water envelope me and it stings like knives burrowing their way into my skin, piercing every inch of me. I try to breath but the water clogs my
throat and threatens to drown me. Then it all stops and I feel the sunlight filter through the icy water and brush my fingertips. As if it is telling me
that I will be alright. This is what I felt like when my heart got broken by the person I believed to be my true love. The dark abyss is depression and the
drowning is the waterfall of tears. While the knives are the pain you feel, and the noise is the sound of your heart shattering into a million pieces as
you read the text that tells you it's all over. But the sunlight is your family and friends coming to comfort you and to tell you that everything will be
alright. This essay is my story of how I found love, lost that love, and was betrayed by a friend.
It all started my Freshman year, second semester in the library. I always sat at the back table because it was quiet place to study. There was also an
older girl, Hailey who was from the alternative school who had to sit at my table. One day while I was reading a book and she was drawing this guy

innocence because while trying to make Baba proud he became guilty for what happened to Hassan. Amir could have run home to tell Baba what

rid of Hassan so that his guilt can leave with Hassan. Both masters betray their best friends and "brothers;" but later on in life they try to compensate

Honorable Betrayal Essay
Honorable Betrayal The William Shakespeare play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar tells the story of the assassination of Julius Caesar and the eight
conspirators behind it. The play takes place in 44 B.C. in Rome. Marcus Brutus is the protagonist and face–man of the insidious conspiracy. He is also
the tragic hero in this classic work of literature. Aristotle's definition of the tragic hero is a character that has a character flaw, also known as hubris,
and experiences a downfall from a high position in society due to this flaw. After this downfall, a tragic hero experiences an enlightenment. Brutus fits

Caesar truly believed Brutus was a friend; Brutus again wrongly judges Caesar's character. The last misjudgment of character Brutus has is the
misjudgment of Antony's true motives in Caesar's funeral speech. Brutus tells Antony, "You shall not in your funeral speech blame us, / But
speak all good you can devise of Caesar," (945). Antony agrees to everything Brutus tells him, but secretly he plans on manipulating the crowd to
turn on Brutus and Cassius. This misjudgment of character leads to a war between the Roman Empire and Brutus's armies. This character flaw,
however, ultimately leads to the downfall of Brutus. The downfall of Brutus begins to occur as soon as he makes the decision to kill Caesar. Due
to the character flaw of misjudgment of character, Brutus makes the decision to kill Caesar, which leads to his downfall. The first loss he
experiences is the loss of a friend, not an adversary, who happens to be Caesar. Brutus truly does love Caesar, but kills him for love of his country.
Right before Brutus dies he says: "Caesar, now be still. / I killed not thee with half so good a will," (997). Brutus speaks his dying words to Caesar,
saying that he killed himself more willingly than he killed Caesar. It is obvious that he cared about Caesar. The second loss he experiences is the loss
of his wife Portia. He tells Cassius: "Impatient of my absence / And grief that young Octavius with Mark

The Tempest Betrayal Essay
William Shakespeare wrote the play The Tempest around 1610 toward the end of his career. The Tempest, a tragicomedy, blends aspects of tragedy
and romance together and depicts them in a humorous way. The Tempest takes place on an island with an unspecified location. The play finds
Prospero and Miranda, ousted former Duke of Milan and his daughter, living in exile on an island with Caliban, its lone native inhabitant. The
unvarying scenario changes when a storm that causes a crew to shipwreck disrupts the way of life on the island. This seemingly natural event allows
for many characters to gradually reveal their true motives as the play progresses. The shift from simple causes to complex ordeals marks a contrast to

Exhibition of loyalty could be used as an initiative to gain the trust of others and improve one's situation. The eagerness of Ariel to be free motivates
him to act loyally throughout the span of his servitude. Because of this type of reasoning, many characters in the play are loyal only when convenient
and advantageous for them. The moment with no favorable outcome signifies the crumbling of one's will to serve. On rare occasions, however, the
quality of loyalty is not fabricated and is rather a genuine sign of goodness. Gonzalo's enjoyment of serving others implies that it is part of his selfless
character. The simple display of loyalty brings to light the true motives of all characters, which determines the side that they are truly on. The close
focus on each character in the adaptation allows for greater understanding of the basis behind the formation of

Reflection About Betrayal
Betrayal is a common thing in today's society. Forgiving others based on what they did is a big step. It takes courage to forgive others and heal.
Betrayal is when you lose a person trust based on a person's actions. The day I felt betrayal was on my birthday, I would never thought the person I
called my friend would do something like that to me. I found my "friend" was having an affair with my ex. I just wondered why would she do that
it's like girl code. I found a way to forgive her for what she had done so I can move on with my life. I was at the time in my life where I felt like i

Sometimes it's ok to overreact but at the end it's all about you and how you feel. Do things that you feel is right it's up to you to make the decisions.
Do not dwell on the past it will prevent you from moving on with your future. It's always the ones that are close to you that would most likely to betray
you. But it's all about forgiveness. People would betray you and do not expect you to react and treat them how they treat you. They would play the
victim and make it seem like it's all your fault when clearly it's theirs. When I was going through the situation it was hard for me to trust guys
especially. Today I still find it hard because I feel like everyone is trying to double cross me because of my past experiences. The feeling where you
feel like everyone is lying to you but in reality they are not but you have to much pride in the way. I built up a wall to spare my feelings because I
did not want a repeat of the past. My attitude started to get worst the reason was because I felt the need to treat people how they treated me. But that

When I Felt Betrayal Essay
Have you ever been in an uncompromising situation where you felt betrayed, had a lack of freedom, and was stuck feeling miserable? Well, this
short but lyrical poem gives an inside look at how a woman would feel being forced into a situation against her wishes. This poem is about a
woman who travels by boat, with wine, to a place she is not looking forward to which caused her to have a lack of rest. She has an unhealthy mind
and she uses the wine to help her cope with her depression. She tries to go to her brothers for support, but she "only met with their rage" (761; 120).
From close interpretation, it appears that she has dishonored her family traditions as they are strongly opposed to her plea for help. In addition, the
woman in this poem may have felt betrayed by the one person who was supposed to love her, as she states "this heart of mine is no stone; you cannot
turn it where you will" (761; 13–14). This symbolizes that she is not found of this chosen person in her life and she wants her significant other to
know that she is human and has feelings too. Which is a perfect example of romantic betrayal. I feel that she may had been willing if it was someone
more desirable. However, this character does not seem to have conveyed her true feelings of this decision because...show more content...

Julius Caesar Betrayal Essay
In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar", Brutus gives the final stab in the assassination of Caesar. Caesar shows feelings of betrayal when Brutus is about
to engage in the action that ended his life. William Shakespeare leaves some sense of wonder about why Caesar felt so abandoned. This leaves Brutus
to be the only one to betray. However, that is not completely true. There was a relationship between the two that is left out in this story. Brutus and
Caesar were part of a chain of events that happened that made them grow together, but yet also grow apart.
From the beginning of Brutus's life, Caesar was always welcoming to him. In the play, Caesar expresses betrayal when he says "Et tu, BrutГ©" (No

Brutus wanted the fame and fortune, but instead, Caesar had everything he had ever wanted. Brutus states that he is afraid that the people have made
Caesar their king (Julius Caesar. Act 1, Scene 2, Pg. 4). Brutus does not want Caesar to be crowned because he wants to be the king himself. Brutus
says, "If it's for the good of all Romans, I'd do it even if it meant my death" (No Fear Shakespeare. Act 1, Scene 2, Page 5). To the reader, it shows that
Brutus cares about Rome more than anything. Nevertheless, according to E. Badian, Brutus was personally arrogant and cruel ("Marcus Junius Brutus").
Brutus took money from Asia, "turned the wealth into gold and silver coins. Some, following Caesar's example, with his own portrait on them"
(Badian). This evidence points to Brutus being jealous of Caesar's lifestyle and tried trying to make his life similar. He knew that the people of Rome
appreciated the way Caesar lead the town, so Brutus wanted to get that same attention, but with even more respect. Assassinating Caesar was the easiest
way to get the people to notice him. Afterwards, the city honored Brutus when he told them he was more honorable than

Julius Caesar Betrayal

  • 1. Julius Caesar Betrayal The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies. It comes from friends and loved ones. It doesn't seem to be right that close friends or even family would be the ones to turn on you. Instead that it would be enemies or people that you don't even know, but that is untrue. You cannot trust anyone. In the story The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, you can find that the ones who backstab each other are ones who were extremely close or even related. It's very wrong and uncalled for yet people still do it. All over the world, since ancient times through this day, it would appear that people you would consider to be close to you wouldn't turn on you but in reality they will be the first to turn on you, as this happens in The Tragedy ...show more content... It started by them getting in many arguments, fighting and ending up turning on each other after Caesar's death. They were arguing over nothing and becoming more and more upset with each other after the littlest things. Cassius says to Brutus, "You wrong me every way; you wrong me Brutus. I said elder soldier, not a better, did I say better" (889)? They keep changing each other's words and fighting. Everything one of them says, turns into the opposite of what they actually said. They ended up turning on each other because of a meaningless Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Not only are social exchange theories tested, but also the inclusion of the uncertainty reduction theory to identify and predict the likelihood for the relational outcomes due to betrayal. Participants were told to report an instance of betrayal. The results to maintaining relational satisfaction post–betrayal were connected to associated with relational continuance. The findings were generally consistent with both social exchange and uncertainty reduction predictions. The more profitable and satisfying a relationship prior to a betrayal, the more likely the relationship will be to survive a transgression. • 3. Essay about Betrayal In George Orwell's 1984 Authors often use their works as a way to express their own opinions and ideologies. However, it is the skill of the author that determines whether these ideas are combined with the plot seamlessly, making a creative transition of ideas from the author's mind, to the reader's. There is no doubt that George Orwell is a masterful writer, and one of his most popular works, 1984, clearly expresses his negative views of the Totalitarian government. A common theme in the dystopian society in 1984 is betrayal: The Party is very intolerant towards any form of disloyalty, and anyone who plots against them or Big Brother will eventually either betray their own mind and accept Big Brother as their leader, or be betrayed and revealed to The Party by...show more content... This friendless situation makes Winston and Julia desperate for allies, also explaining why they are so eager to trust O'Brien and Mr. Charrington at first, both of which turning out to be more dangerous than the people they work with in the Ministry of Truth. This betrayal reinforces the fact that no one can be trusted, that they have no allies, and that they are alone against an army of double thinkers. In 1984, the ultimate form of betrayal is introduced when The Party causes Winston to betray his own mind and accept their views, and love Big Brother. It the beginning, Winston stresses the importance of keeping your own thoughts, in a world where other opinions and alternate accounts of past events are being forced upon the population. Winston points out that "Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimetres inside your skull." and thoughts like this become important to the reader, who, as Winston does, believes that they are safe in his head as a facet of his character (Orwell 29). However, the torture in the Ministry of Love gets to Winston, and he begins to lose his individual opinions. O'Brien systematically removes all rebellious thoughts in Winston's mind, replacing them with the ideology of The Party. In doing so, it is as if they are killing a character. When Winston is released he behaves like a new character altogether, he loses the battle with himself and betrays his original opinions against The Party. In using self–betrayal to show Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. A Brief Note On ' Betrayal And Trust ' Essay Betrayal and trust During adolescence, teenagers want to become independent and often times do not tell their parents where they are off to in the evening. They leave their parents in the dust, who await their arrival in the night if it is past curfew. Teenagers make irresponsible decisions because their pre–frontal cortex is not fully developed. Neuroscientists have determined that the orbitofrontal and anterior cingulate cortex in our brains regulates our choices (Nauert, 2011). There is a 60% difference between drug use among children of intact families and children of drug users (Black, 2016). Divorce leads to disaster and the numbers are parallel there as well. It is incredible how a parent can condone children easily if they are honest. David states, "I am packing an overnight bag for him and look for a sweater in his backpack. I do not find the sweater, but instead discover a small bag of marijuana" (56). Parents can never really tell where their teenager is off to, because they lie, and the naive parents bite the bait. The bag of marijuana is a metaphor for a can of worms because once Nic is exposed to marijuana, it leads him to try more drugs as he grows up. Later in the book, Nic later confesses to David that his initial exposure to drugs was alcohol when he was alone in the house and with friends from high school at the time. "Each new betrayal brings with it a new eruption of emotions" (199) because trust is built over a lifetime and it can be broken in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Betrayal in the Great Gatsby Essay Betrayal in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. It is recognized as the "Great American Novel" as it shows great wealth, partying, jazz music and many other aspects of the "American Dream". In his novel, he displays a lot of symbols, and themes including wealth, greed, and the most vivid, betrayal. Betrayal can upset many people and ruin many people. Betrayal was demonstrated throughout the entire novel with a lot of connections. Three situations will be examined, and they will be: Gatsby betrayed by Daisy, Tom cheats on Daisy with Myrtle and no one attends Gatsby's funeral. The entrance of betrayal in the novel comes from Tom Buchanan's love affair with "some...show more content... Daisy then left with Gatsby to his house. On their way to the house, they hit Myrtle with a Gatsby's car and drove off. Daisy then settles her differences with Tom and they get back together, leaving Gatsby alone and ignites his downfall: "Daisy and Tom were sitting opposite each other at the kitchen table... He was talking intently across the table at her, and in his earnestness his hand had fallen upon and covered her own. Once in a while she looked up at him and nodded in agreement." –Fitzgerald, 146 The end of chapter eight details the tragic events that ended Gatsby's life. George Wilson, manipulated by Tom, kills Gatsby to seek justice. News spread about Gatsby's death which caused a lot of traffic at his house; they weren't people that knew him from a personal level, but were journalists, photographers, police officers and other media positions. Everyone except Nick believed Gatsby was the killer of Myrtle and Wilson was "deranged by grief" (Fitzgerald, 164). Further investigation ended and then the funeral took place. Gatsby's body demanded Nick to call everyone that regularly attended the party to join him as he couldn't do it alone: "Look here, old sport, you've got to get somebody for me. You've got to try hard. I can't go through this alone." (Fitzgerald, 166) No one from the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. How To Write A Betrayal Essay Betrayal may be the key to helping oneself. A person may betray its family, culture, or tribe and sometimes it may be all three. If a person betrayed something that had a negative effect on them they may be awarded friends, respect, and support. Junior in Sherman Alexie's novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part–Time Indian was awarded all three. Junior is a Spokane Indian that left his Reservation school for a richer and better school called Reardan. Junior let down his tribe, family, and culture when he left to go to Reardan, but he gained more friends, support, and respect. While he was attending Reardan he was more respected by his peers. The betrayal positively effected Junior because of the friends, support, and respect that he gained. Junior is treated better at Reardan than at the Reservation. People that attend the Reservation made fun of him and beat him up, but when he was at Reardan Junior established dominance and was no longer made fun of. Junior said how he "punched...show more content... Junior gained friends while he was at Reardan. Junior was shocked when "Penelope chose me to be her new friend" (192 online), since he only had Rowdy as a friend at the Reservation. When Junior was at Reardan he talked to different people, and made new friends. When Gordy and Junior had a conversation Junior said "we became friends" (79 online). Junior was a poor kid and did not have a lot of money. He was scared to tell everyone that he was poor because he "figured it wouldn't do any good if they knew he was dirt poor" (99 online). However, when his friends found out they felt sorry for him, and he said that they were "Being a really good friend" (106 online). When Roger found out that he had no money, he was being a good friend and "lent him money" (106 online). • 7. What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay To someone I loved, There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren't any physical marks for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and actions of those close to me. There was a quote I saw that said, "The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe were loyal." That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought were loyal. It's hard for me to trust anyone, but the pain should wear off in the night. By morning, I'll forget there was ever pain in the first place. I had been hurt before but this time around, the pain was different. It came with a sense of endangerment. I had a feeling something bad would happen as the pain diminished each day. So...show more content... Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball struck me in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief because I couldn't trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn't crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you. You didn't directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn't admit I has fallen inlove with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my shoulders. I couldn't fall in love. I absolutely couldn't fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me. Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. You broke my heart without even knowing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Examples Of Betrayal In Julius Caesar Is betrayal moral or immoral? In the Passage Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, both Brutus and Cassius betrays their best friend Caesar. Even though they both planned the death of Caesar, they both did it for a different reason. This could be one of the reasons why they both died in a different way. William Shakespeare uses the downfall of Brutus and Cassius to how that betrayal is immoral. Brutus was one of Caesar best friends but he still killed Caesar because he thought it would be good for Rome. Even though he thought it was for the good of Rome, he still paid the price for betraying his best friend. The start of his downfall is when he has leave Rome because of Antony speech in act 3 scene 2. His downfall ultimately results in him Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Theme Of Betrayal, Revenge, And Forgiveness Themes in the Tempest Trust is one of the hardest things to acquire, but fairly easy to lose. Putting ones trust into the wrong person could even lead to deception and regret. In the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare, we witness as Prospero makes that grave mistake of putting his trust into his brother, Antonio. After being betrayed by his own flesh the only thing that was on Prospero's mind was revenge. However, later on in the play he realizes that revenge is not always the best option and forgiveness can go long way. In this essay I will discuss how William Shakespeare ingeniously demonstrates the theme of betrayal, revenge, and forgiveness throughout The Tempest. Prospero, who was the Duke of Milan, was more interested in his magic books then his nobility. He was too distracted to notice that his brother, along with the King of Naples, Alonso, had begun conspiring against him. Prospero who would have never expected this defiance from his brother states, "The creatures that were mine, I say or changed 'em, / Or else new formed 'em having both the key / Of officer and office" (The Tempest 1.2.101–103). Unlike Antonio, Prospero considered their blood bond to be significant, trusting that he will always remain loyal to him. Unfortunately, he made a critical mistake as he let Antonio make the proper acquaintances, learn all the political tricks, and acquire their full support, while he stayed out practicing magic. Antonio had everyone under his control so getting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Infidelity, unfaithfulness, and modesty outline the surface of the play Betrayal written by Harold Pinter. From afar the relationships between the trio of characters seems normal but; when taking a deeper look, the correlations are noticeably dysfunctional. The three main characters, Emma, Jerry and Robert interact kindly, never seem to interrupt one another, ask innocent questions and do not, generally, inspect over much the answers. They help each other over the occasional awkward moments and talk when necessary. But these characters rejoice when knowing something that someone else does not and that knowledge is sometimes translated into power. Though it takes time, sometimes even years to breach things under the surface eventually and...show more content... She no longer exudes this strong woman image but rather takes on a weaker demeanor. We see this powerless image of her in several scenes when meeting with Jerry she constantly needs to be reassured of his love. At the beginning of the play in Spring 1977 where Emma and Jerry are sharing drinks at the pub, she is very emotional. Her feelings for Jerry during this scene are evident as she asks, "Ever think of me?" and "You think of me sometimes?" (Pinter 17). Her insecurity and low self–esteem shines brightly in this encounter with her ex–lover. During that first scene Emma confesses to Jerry that Robert has been cheating on her and that "he's had other women for years." (Pinter 25) Yet she insists on feeling hurt and does not feel guilty for her mirrored actions. In scene 4, when Jerry comes to visit Robert and Emma at their house, upon leaving Emma breaks away and cries quietly on Robert's shoulder. She seems overwhelmed with all of the interactions. At this point in the play Robert knows of Jerry and Emma'saffair but Jerry has no idea that he is aware. Emma is most likely weighed down by the lies and feels besieged with all of the secrets surrounding her. Slowly we see a once strong woman turn into a weak and unhappy person. Initially displeased with her marriage, she now has lost her lover as well as getting a divorce with her husband. When you compare the Emma from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Love, Loss, And Betrayal Essay Love, Loss, and Betrayal I can feel myself slipping, falling into the dark abyss. My mind whirls as I listen to a cacophony of noise rush around me. Then I feel the frigid water envelope me and it stings like knives burrowing their way into my skin, piercing every inch of me. I try to breath but the water clogs my throat and threatens to drown me. Then it all stops and I feel the sunlight filter through the icy water and brush my fingertips. As if it is telling me that I will be alright. This is what I felt like when my heart got broken by the person I believed to be my true love. The dark abyss is depression and the drowning is the waterfall of tears. While the knives are the pain you feel, and the noise is the sound of your heart shattering into a million pieces as you read the text that tells you it's all over. But the sunlight is your family and friends coming to comfort you and to tell you that everything will be alright. This essay is my story of how I found love, lost that love, and was betrayed by a friend. It all started my Freshman year, second semester in the library. I always sat at the back table because it was quiet place to study. There was also an older girl, Hailey who was from the alternative school who had to sit at my table. One day while I was reading a book and she was drawing this guy just strolled right over with this cocky smile and sat down right next to me. • 12. The Kite Runner Betrayal Essay example In "The Kite Runner," Amir and Baba both betray the servants most loyal to them. Hassan and Ali both do everything in their power to please their masters and remain loyal to them. Hassan and Ali differ from their masters in numerous ways but both pairs have similar differences. The master servant relationship between Baba, Ali and Amir, Hassan both differ in the characters' attitudes, relationships, loyalty and courage. Although Baba and Ali grew up together, they grow to be very distinct people. Baba is a respected Afghan businessman who constantly gives to the community. Baba also stood up for himself and others when he felt that something was unjustified. Ali on the other hand is very reserved and doesn't do anything when people make...show more content... Amir felt this way because in the end he was a Pashtun and Hassan was a Hazzara. When guests would come over to play with Amir he would Exclude Hassan. Amir would only play with Hassan when no one else was around. Despite Ali and Hassan's loyalty they are still betrayed by their masters. Baba's betrayal is much worse than what Amir did to Hassan. Baba intentionally betrayed Ali who he claimed to be his friend. Baba even said that he felt Ali was like a brother to him. But Baba caused what happened and directly harmed Ali because of what he did. Amir didn't directly harm Hassan and he also didn't cause what happened to his friend like Baba did. But Amir didn't do anything about what was happening to Hassan either. Baba broke his own rule; he robbed Amir and Hassan of their brotherhood by not telling them they were related. He robbed Ali of his honor by sleeping with Sanaubar. And he robbed his own wife of the truth by cheating on her while she was pregnant. He also robbed Amir of his innocence because while trying to make Baba proud he became guilty for what happened to Hassan. Amir could have run home to tell Baba what was happening to Hassan but he hid and waited so that his kite would be brought to him. Not only that but Amir goes to great lengths to try and get rid of Hassan so that his guilt can leave with Hassan. Both masters betray their best friends and "brothers;" but later on in life they try to compensate for it by doing good deeds. Baba builds an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Honorable Betrayal Essay Honorable Betrayal The William Shakespeare play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar tells the story of the assassination of Julius Caesar and the eight conspirators behind it. The play takes place in 44 B.C. in Rome. Marcus Brutus is the protagonist and face–man of the insidious conspiracy. He is also the tragic hero in this classic work of literature. Aristotle's definition of the tragic hero is a character that has a character flaw, also known as hubris, and experiences a downfall from a high position in society due to this flaw. After this downfall, a tragic hero experiences an enlightenment. Brutus fits Aristotle's description perfectly. Brutus has a severe character flaw and experiences a downfall from a high position in society....show more content... Caesar truly believed Brutus was a friend; Brutus again wrongly judges Caesar's character. The last misjudgment of character Brutus has is the misjudgment of Antony's true motives in Caesar's funeral speech. Brutus tells Antony, "You shall not in your funeral speech blame us, / But speak all good you can devise of Caesar," (945). Antony agrees to everything Brutus tells him, but secretly he plans on manipulating the crowd to turn on Brutus and Cassius. This misjudgment of character leads to a war between the Roman Empire and Brutus's armies. This character flaw, however, ultimately leads to the downfall of Brutus. The downfall of Brutus begins to occur as soon as he makes the decision to kill Caesar. Due to the character flaw of misjudgment of character, Brutus makes the decision to kill Caesar, which leads to his downfall. The first loss he experiences is the loss of a friend, not an adversary, who happens to be Caesar. Brutus truly does love Caesar, but kills him for love of his country. Right before Brutus dies he says: "Caesar, now be still. / I killed not thee with half so good a will," (997). Brutus speaks his dying words to Caesar, saying that he killed himself more willingly than he killed Caesar. It is obvious that he cared about Caesar. The second loss he experiences is the loss of his wife Portia. He tells Cassius: "Impatient of my absence / And grief that young Octavius with Mark Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Tempest Betrayal Essay William Shakespeare wrote the play The Tempest around 1610 toward the end of his career. The Tempest, a tragicomedy, blends aspects of tragedy and romance together and depicts them in a humorous way. The Tempest takes place on an island with an unspecified location. The play finds Prospero and Miranda, ousted former Duke of Milan and his daughter, living in exile on an island with Caliban, its lone native inhabitant. The unvarying scenario changes when a storm that causes a crew to shipwreck disrupts the way of life on the island. This seemingly natural event allows for many characters to gradually reveal their true motives as the play progresses. The shift from simple causes to complex ordeals marks a contrast to prior Shakespearean plays....show more content... The moment with no favorable outcome signifies the crumbling of one's will to serve. On rare occasions, however, the quality of loyalty is not fabricated and is rather a genuine sign of goodness. Gonzalo's enjoyment of serving others implies that it is part of his selfless character. The simple display of loyalty brings to light the true motives of all characters, which determines the side that they are truly on. • 15. Reflection About Betrayal Betrayal is a common thing in today's society. Forgiving others based on what they did is a big step. It takes courage to forgive others and heal. Betrayal is when you lose a person trust based on a person's actions. The day I felt betrayal was on my birthday, I would never thought the person I called my friend would do something like that to me. I found my "friend" was having an affair with my ex. I just wondered why would she do that it's like girl code. I found a way to forgive her for what she had done so I can move on with my life. I was at the time in my life where I felt like i could not trust anybody my trust was gone. But I built up the courage to find answers that's the number one step to move on from a situation....show more content... Moving on with my life closing a chapter that should have been closed long ago. Feeling a relief when all the weight that was on your shoulders are no longer there. Sometimes it's ok to overreact but at the end it's all about you and how you feel. Do things that you feel is right it's up to you to make the decisions. Do not dwell on the past it will prevent you from moving on with your future. It's always the ones that are close to you that would most likely to betray you. But it's all about forgiveness. People would betray you and do not expect you to react and treat them how they treat you. They would play the victim and make it seem like it's all your fault when clearly it's theirs. When I was going through the situation it was hard for me to trust guys especially. Today I still find it hard because I feel like everyone is trying to double cross me because of my past experiences. The feeling where you feel like everyone is lying to you but in reality they are not but you have to much pride in the way. I built up a wall to spare my feelings because I did not want a repeat of the past. My attitude started to get worst the reason was because I felt the need to treat people how they treated me. But that was not me no matter how hard I tried even if you betrayed me I will not do the same. Having a good heart can sometimes hurt you because you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. When I Felt Betrayal Essay Have you ever been in an uncompromising situation where you felt betrayed, had a lack of freedom, and was stuck feeling miserable? Well, this short but lyrical poem gives an inside look at how a woman would feel being forced into a situation against her wishes. This poem is about a woman who travels by boat, with wine, to a place she is not looking forward to which caused her to have a lack of rest. She has an unhealthy mind and she uses the wine to help her cope with her depression. She tries to go to her brothers for support, but she "only met with their rage" (761; 120). From close interpretation, it appears that she has dishonored her family traditions as they are strongly opposed to her plea for help. In addition, the woman in this poem may have felt betrayed by the one person who was supposed to love her, as she states "this heart of mine is no stone; you cannot turn it where you will" (761; 13–14). This symbolizes that she is not found of this chosen person in her life and she wants her significant other to know that she is human and has feelings too. Which is a perfect example of romantic betrayal. I feel that she may had been willing if it was someone more desirable. However, this character does not seem to have conveyed her true feelings of this decision because...show more content... However, in this poem the woman has been through way more than what she signed up for. Due to these detrimental experiences, it has caused her to have this lack of freedom from her family, feeling stuck in misery because of her unwanted significant other and feeling betrayed by the ones who she thought loved her the most. In conclusion, the moral of this poem to me is to speak up for what you believe in despite if you have an army standing behind you or you conquer the situation on your own. Either way, life is too short to not live your life the way you want Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Creative Writing: Betrayal Over the course of high school prior to this betrayal, I was never the best at making friends, but I somehow made a handful of the greatest friends I could have asked for, such as Ian. He was a always a clown, never leaving the group without a smile on our faces. Furthermore, he had helped me boost my confidence by showing and teaching me boxing and mixed martial arts; prior to this, I had been bullied several times and during dance practice, and he had seen me get thrown to the ground by another dancer, after being thrown down I had a surge of all the bad memories and I left the room and broke down. Ian had followed me and he comforted me by telling me a story of the times that he too had been bullied, He then proceeded to offer me kajukenpo, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Julius Caesar Betrayal Essay In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar", Brutus gives the final stab in the assassination of Caesar. Caesar shows feelings of betrayal when Brutus is about to engage in the action that ended his life. William Shakespeare leaves some sense of wonder about why Caesar felt so abandoned. This leaves Brutus to be the only one to betray. However, that is not completely true. There was a relationship between the two that is left out in this story. Brutus and Caesar were part of a chain of events that happened that made them grow together, but yet also grow apart. From the beginning of Brutus's life, Caesar was always welcoming to him. In the play, Caesar expresses betrayal when he says "Et tu, BrutГ©" (No Fear Shakespeare. Act 3, Scene 1, Page 5) before...show more content... Brutus wanted the fame and fortune, but instead, Caesar had everything he had ever wanted. Brutus states that he is afraid that the people have made Caesar their king (Julius Caesar. Act 1, Scene 2, Pg. 4). Brutus does not want Caesar to be crowned because he wants to be the king himself. Brutus says, "If it's for the good of all Romans, I'd do it even if it meant my death" (No Fear Shakespeare. Act 1, Scene 2, Page 5). To the reader, it shows that Brutus cares about Rome more than anything. Nevertheless, according to E. Badian, Brutus was personally arrogant and cruel ("Marcus Junius Brutus"). Brutus took money from Asia, "turned the wealth into gold and silver coins. Some, following Caesar's example, with his own portrait on them" (Badian). This evidence points to Brutus being jealous of Caesar's lifestyle and tried trying to make his life similar. He knew that the people of Rome appreciated the way Caesar lead the town, so Brutus wanted to get that same attention, but with even more respect. Assassinating Caesar was the easiest way to get the people to notice him. Afterwards, the city honored Brutus when he told them he was more honorable than Get more content on HelpWriting.net
